    By now, you probably know why arp thread lube does not go on the threads into the block. And why the lube goes under the washers.

    The bottom of the studs do not get lubricated. The only exception is if they protrude into the water jacket, in which case you use ARP thread sealant.
    This is because as you tighten the nuts, you don't want the stud to be driven deeper into the block. You're well aware of why, good job on only driving them hand tight during initial install. But you really do want them to have a higher coefficient of friction on the block than the nuts.

      And oof, did you say you don't lube the nut threads? That's a HUGE no-no. It's extremely likely that this head is under-torqued as a result, not enough clamping force. Has this motor ran yet? Please re-lube and retorque if you can!

      I hope they are the regular studs and not the fancy ones not to be touched by hand 😬 Otherwise I thought myself it was the top threads and nuts that were well lubed

      @@krismcleod272 these are the real real fancy ones you can touch by hand. CA625+ the L19 you can’t

    very surprising to see people stopping the stud in to the block and making it a bolt again, once finger tight with teh stud back it out a quarter turn to its not tight to the block, so its a floating stud

    Can you please tell me.......what size socket do I need ? It's a ½" drive 12point 3/16" socket ?......I'm trying ti find it online and everyone saying different sizes!! I heard you says ½" but I don't know if your talking about the drive size or actual ½ diameter of socket ?

    • @Supra_Rankin
      @Supra_Rankin 4 місяці тому

      I imagine you've already finished but the arp nuts for the 2jz head studs are 1/2" 12 point easiest socket to fit is a standard length 3/8 drive socket
