I tried family style this year for the first time and it didn’t go well for us either. My 7 year old daughter was listening well, but found it all too hard to keep up with. She was getting frustrated. I then gave her own books too and she flourished.
Loved hearing about your year .,This year was crazier than most years for us, because we have so many different ages. We also love documentaries for geography. 🙏My emoji for lots of prayers this year
Thank goodness I found your channel!! For the last three years I’ve homeschooled our 3 older boys and we’ve always done science, Nature Study and History as a group and my middle child was just like your son. Then all the boys would all be talking and I have trouble getting through the lesson. This whole time I thought it was either a curriculum problem or a ME problem. I never thought to separate them on those subjects! I was really worried about it because our youngest son is going to start school this year and I was worried about how all of this would work with 4 of them. Thank you so much, this was very insightful and impeccably timed considering I’m trying to plan for our next school year right now. I will try separating this year and keeping group subjects to Art and Bible maybe…🤔
Just found your channel, I love hearing about your year. I just posted an update about how our first year of homeschool went a week ago, though we are homeschooling at Kindergarten level, your video gives me insight in what’s to come, so thank you!
China From Above, India From Above, and Human Planet. There’s also a fun documentary-series on UA-cam I watch with my first graders - “Dangerous Ways to School”
🤠😵💫😁🛫 We had a good year but definitely had some ups and downs. I agree about using documentaries for geography; It is much more tangible. Vincent also does so much better with narration when he reads it himself.

Thank you! I really appreciate the honest insight because it was developmentally and individually appropriate.
I love the exit interview idea. Thank you so much for sharing.😅
Glad you enjoyed it!

🌪☀ some hard challenges this year but then the sun for enjoyment
Love the tip for geography! We used LMF this year in addition to others (7th grade).
I'd love to hear other documentaries you recommend for other parts of the world!

Do you pre read so you know what he’s reading?
I try to preread everything, or ask for recommendations for mammas that I trust. There’s been a couple times I didn’t preread and I wish I’d had!
