**THERE IS NO CONTEST; YOU HAVEN'T WON A PRIZE. DON'T TEXT ANY NUMBERS IN ACCOUNT NAMES.** Thanks again to Phisnom for participating in the interview, and for helping me design the thumbnail/title!!! **Which Fanverse game are you guys most excited for?**
You make it into like half my videos lol. It turns out that "FusionZGamer" shows up _everywhere_ in the history of the FNAF community. You're like the Kevin Bacon of FNAF. I was gonna put a note at 0:12 that said "you can't tell because there's no audio, but this footage is from Fusion's video" 😆
Seeing the care that Phisnom is taking while creating FNAF+ makes me really happy. It really doesn’t seem like it’ll be a letdown, and here’s hoping it could re-energize why we fell in love with the series in the first place.
I've been a fan of FNaF since FNaF 3's release despite probably being the weakest game in the series (for obvious reasons) let's hope the fandom keep their cool so they don't chastise Phisnom, taking his time will allow the game to be more polished and finished and if the concept and gameplay reveal was any indication, this is not only a separate thing from the original but a way more detailed and extra-rich version. Making games is hard and I'd hate to be let down if it was rushed... he should take all the time he wants
I’m not complaining at all, but I’ve recently noticed you in a bunch of comment sections I just got off of the Vailskibum Minions video, and I think I’ve seen you in a couple Bkeach videos). It’s like you’re becoming the next “Guy Without A Mustache”.
I absolutely agree with Phisnom about how we should be blunt and critical of works we like. I also agree with how he let's his work do the talking when he wants to prove a point. Blunt criticism while obviously being blunt can be the kick people need sometimes to get them into gear. It's not always the solution and sometimes softer criticisms should be used instead however we shouldn't shy away from it. Edit: thanks for the heart theft king. I'm glad that you cover stuff on this community and I'm so glad you made this video as well as the other ones covering aspects of the fanverse initiative and the creators behind them. I believe Scott had the best intentions and while some are making good use of his good intentions and some are using it only for their selfish gain. However I know that I may not have known all this if you didn't compile and cover the subjects. I believe that you're doing a good thing for this community and I hope other communities have a member like you sooner or later. Sorry that this edit had barely anything to do with the comment I made I just wanted to express my genuine thanks for you and your content.
true, if you look how much effort people put in hiding from criticism which could have been invested in improvement it shows just how much people still have to learn
I feel a lot of people tend to ignore or deny flaws with something they like, which isn’t helping anyone. Like, don’t you want the thing you enjoy to improve? Like for example, something else I enjoy, RWBY, is absolutely fucking abysmal in some areas, but people will immediately get defensive if you mention anything negative. People are weird
@@KikiCatMeow yeah butt many people are angry with phshit and his criticism by the fact that he is too harsh about it and many of the devs he has criticised were just starting out.
Phisnom has definitely become a very interesting developer when it comes to the impressive fan games or the neat looking art. He seems like a good and caring developer who puts effort into the things he's known for and I certainly cannot wait to see what's in store for FNAF+. Also nice Transition from you to Scott and the variants of phisnom at 12:21 another successful video.
one of the first things i was told when entering a game design course was "dont be precious, be ready to take criticism and throw away bad ideas" because thats how you make a good game, a lot of games often fall short by taking the first idea they had, finding that it doesnt work but sticking to it because they are too scared to start over. I honestly respect Phisnom's brutal criticism because its the best way to improve, security breach was a trainwreck and the only thing steel wool can do now is move forward and improve based on criticism. (Edit: Edited to remove the heart... im done)
I guess the dlc will show if they listened or not. The fact it’s an estimated 2023 gives me hope though, and also gives me hope it’ll be it’s own application instead of an add-on, similar to Poppy chapters 1 and 2. I feel like the fundamental issues with SB will ‘ruin’ the dlc if its an add-on
@@KikiCatMeow The only way that DLC is gonna make a difference is if the gameplay of it is different entirely. No matter how stable Security Breach becomes it is still a very poor game story and gameplay wise.
@@ValidT I think the DLC could also make a difference if the gameplay is the same but the vibe is much scarier than vanilla SB. Less colorful and more scary-looking animatronics, darker areas, more stuff to manage et cetera.
@@Goffyahhgameingchair you'd be surprised how much thought, detail, silence and misery goes into games but when it's all over it is either your biggest dream or a colossal misunderstanding. I'm passionate for game design so I couldn't be happier to see this game nearing it's debut
Phisnom has the right mindset, never understood why the community had been so upset with his opinion on SB. He pretty much stated the facts and the state of the game, not consuming product after product without questions. (Despite some of his reactions.)
*Direct criticism wasn't really the question with Phisnom though, as plainly stated criticism is vital to the improvement of a game;* I agreed with much of the gameplay, horror, story, bug related criticisms he had---indicating an unfinished product that shouldn't have been released----it still wasn't ready (regardless of why it still wasn't or why the game was pushed out the way it was). *IIRC, it's how he communicated those criticisms that was the issue, not really the criticisms themselves.* EDIT: @BeastMaster09 and his comment pretty sums up the true problem with Phisnom's 'communication methods.' General toxicity and severe unprofessionalism; which no matter how you try to excuse, deflect, or sugar coat it----is not healthy for any large community. So unfortunately, either Phisnom misunderstood theft's question on this subject, or deflected the issue to something on a 1 to 1 scale with Scott----this is a completely different scale to the size and diversity of the FNAF community now (no matter how you cut it) and is not comparable to a much smaller or specific 1 to 1 scenario----he either deflected to an incomplete comparison logical fallacy in an attempt to silence legitimate criticism of his comments, or he really just didn't get what Theft's (the community's) legitimate criticism of his comments was actually composed of and was referring too, I'm hoping the latter, but sadly, I wouldn't be surprised at the former either. *Sadly, loving to give out harsh or toxic criticism, but selectively refusing to acknowledge legitimate criticisms of your own actions when they are inconvenient is all too common nowadays.* EDIT2: Side note, apparently Phisnom has also had some really unnecessary/toxic reactions and beef with other members of the community in the past (mentioned below by @Enternal Memeage), so, if true, previous reputation may have also impacted how the twitter post itself was received, which may have just been a small part of a larger problem.
@@toasteroven6761 I fully agree with you there, I hope it I'd be a simple misunderstanding rather than Phisnom deflecting the question. He's a pretty damned good dev who's managed to bring back my interests in fnaf again with plus.

I can always appreciate a man who isn't afraid to speak his mindset. Phisnom seems like a really talented guy and I'm excited to see what he does in the future. Even if he'll no longer be involved with FNAF, I'm sure he could make plenty of great original horror games!
I feel like he does it just to call attention to himself...which is also why I feel like he's delayed fnaf plus for this long for that exact reason as well. He seems to love controversy and being the center of attention. I just want this game to come out man.
@@Pikminenjoyerbunchofnumbersso phisnom shared his opinion on twitter about how the security breach DLC ruin is boring somebody replied and said: "can we tweet this after FNaF+ comes out, it's only fair" and people started sending him death threads and gore videos and phisnom even encouraged it ( idc if its as a joke or not it is still pretty messed up)
Phil's streams of SB were my favorite precisely because of how he didn't sugar coat or handwave the issues with the game. He even talked about what he legitimately liked about it in places. I felt that he was extremely fair to it. He's correct. If you brush off major issues with games as OK, you are telling that company that they can go ahead and make any broken thing they want and you will still pay for it. You don't get better games that way. You get WORSE games every single time because you have directly told them that they don't need to put in the effort to make it good. We will never know what the original intended vision was for SB because enough fans formed a defense force and told SW that they don't need to try harder or to make the game complete. Some fans even wanted the DLC to be PAID after how SB turned out, BEFORE THE BUG FIXES WERE MADE. He's brutally honest because he knows people deserve better than "You give me $40, and I'll give you a confusing mess where you can fall through the floor or brick your console". During his streams of other games, you see his passion for design, fun mechanics, atmosphere, and storytelling. He's a gem of a developer and player, and I'm looking forward to FNaF+ because of how he poured his soul into making that game feel as eerie as everyone imagined the first game in their heads when it first came out. In this modern era of "Just do the bare minimum to cash in", that's a rare breath of fresh air. Broken things don't get fixed by telling the breaker that they did a good job. Broken things get fixed by telling the breaker to fix their mess and clean it up.
Well I do respect his game development skills and do respect him for saying the truth about security breach. But his condescending and dickish attitude makes me hate him. Because ok I understand that he wants to share his opinions on the internet but if somebody even disagrees and challenges his opinion. he Blocks them on twitter and starts talking shit about them (ex: dawko and jellyliam with his final nights series) like if somebody disagrees with him he stars acting like a toddler. Witch makes me lose all respect for him personally but his games are still amazing to play so im kinda conflicted
i agree with everything in this video. it's like i saw in this one video. people who say things are perfect and that theres no reason to improve aren't fans of the things they like. they are fan boys/fan girls or simps. if they did care, they would give good criticism to the things they like
Since I grew up near the actual inunaki tunnel, yes the tunnel exists, I just wanna say that it's not really scary. I was surprised that the place has a bad rep because the dam near it is actually really pretty, especially the surrounding area. It's a nice place to drive or hike around. There is this weird area with loads of Sakura trees. It has a big parking area. They probably meant to build something there and never got to it. There are many different reasons to why it has such a bad reputation and is known as "haunted, despite it's beauty. Obviously it's an abandoned tunnel and that's always "scary". The name itself is probably a huge contributor as well. Inu means ''dog'' and ''naki'' means cry. And an abandoned tunnel that's named ''tunnel of the crying dog''... It's definitely "spooky". The other is the village that was sunken to build the dam. It's probably where the idea of "the village behind the tunnel" came from. It wasn't on that side of the tunnel tho but actually the opposite way but... Oh well. The last contributing factors are probably the saddest. Back in the days Japan had a huge problem with delinquents. And in 1988 one of these delinquent groups tried to steal a guys car. He refused to give it to them so they decided to kidnap him and bring him to the now infamous tunnel where they tortured and then burned him alive. There was also a dead body found in the dam in 2000. But there seems to be no information on this. My mother's boyfriend who had lived there in 2000 said it was a woman's body according to what he heard in the news back then. There were also two car accidents afterwards. A few r-pe and insurance money murders happened near by as well. But it was at a different dam. Still it all adds to the spooky stories. Sad because again. It's actually a pretty place.
When I think about it now, from Phil's perspective, his childhood with horror, and how he noted key details about Steel Wool's game-making process and the way they handled the creation of Security Breach feels like a Sonic Fan complaining at SEGA for making Sonic "no longer good anymore". It's a sense of brutal honesty that I've only seen a few Sonic fans and content creators express, and now it seems to follow into this indie game fandom thats grown quite a lot.... Though, he's pretty much right (especially with FNAF no longer seeming that scary at this point with colorful merch and all and Security Breach itself), it might be a good idea to be, at least wary of how he uses his honest opinions or else he could get in serious trouble in the future, even with non-FNAF related things.
I have mad respect for Phisnom for his no-filter style of criticizing the series. I agree with just about everything he said about SB, and Steel Wool's mentality regarding it.
@artistic autistic I don't even know, I haven't even interacted with him and I was blocked! If I had a genuine & justifiable explanation as to why, then I would understand, but the motherfucker just blocked without an explanation.
i was watching a fnaf iceberg video the other day. one of the things in the iceberge talked about Phisnom that made him look like a bad person. your video shows that phisnom is a good, honest and talented person i would also like to add that the icons phisnom uses are very well made and kinda cute
"My first PC exploded...I put a firecracker in it because I thought it would make it go faster..." I must say I do admire Phisnom's ingenuity and resourcefulness.
tbh as controversial as he can be and weirdly dark he can be; he is right though. They pushed out SB without any second thought and all because of empty threats (Since what would people do? lol. kill them and then no game would happen okay lol) As a learning game dev myself; and I have an assistant rigger to help me since I'm still new to it, so it's nice to have someone with an degree, well perhaps I shouldn't, I actually promoted him to 2nd official game dev since he doesn't even need to work on the world map etc sometimes all a dev needs to do is help work on the characters, and I promised him great pay if the game does better than expected since he earned it for helping me. but I told him even, that there is no rush, that there shouldn't be a rush to anything. And he agreed. He liked my passion and how much time and effort I'd put into it. SB made me angry only because it was I'd say half baked, but even less then that. It's like putting cookies in the oven for about 5 minutes, still cold and hard and sure people like cookie dough to eat, there isn't an actual cookie to munch on. Just soft dough that taste good but could be a thousand times better. and there's the argument of "cookie dough is still delicious on it's own without having to be baked into an actual cookie" and those are the hardcore SB fans who won't even criticize the game as if it was perfect, and it really isn't and even scott wasn't happy about it. It had potential, it had everything it could've been for it, but rushed due to empty threats and demands which I'd never go for. Cause in the end, you're only going to get more people upset at you. I'm only angry because it really was a great series, but then it started falling apart after FNAF VR since now we're just getting into more complicated story telling that doesn't have any answers or "it's not real vs what is real" that didn't need to exist. For me if it stopped after Pizzeria Simulator that would've been the greatest finale since it summed up everything practically now it's more confusing, and as MatPat once said it's like trying to throw things at a wall to see what sticks. It's like Steel Wool doesn't have a damn clue what they're doing either. No good guidance. To what was a wonderful mystery is now a total catastrophe in my eyes. Over saturated, over done. Even I know that series shouldn't over stay its welcome I understand that this was scotts last big effort to make a game, that he was just a person who worked at Dollar General to make his pay, while learning on his own about game deving and creating. this was his last chance that he was gonna give himself, and I can understand being so excited about finally, after so long finally something stuck. something stayed. Something was loved that he created and the last thing really, or rather almost like a fear, is watching it slowly die down. but sometimes you just have to let it die as a legend then let it die as a clown. He could've used whatever money was left to make the big final movie and end it right there and then if he wanted push out more books and that's that. I think continuing it, is only making it like how Teen Titans was, an amazing show and then now you're making it into like a Teen Titans GO! where it's memed, it's mocked, it's water down I hope to never do that with my series. I have two. one as a manga and one ....erm it's supposed to be an animated series, thing is though I need an audience for that which is why I thought the video game introducing them as a comedy survival would be the best bet. you get to explore their world, I can put my friends and such in the towns to explore as cute anthros since it's not canon, you get to see tho, their personality, how they would respond to things, see their lives and their antics, have some fun and learn some things. Sure the games aren't canon but that wouldn't mean there wouldn't be.......something~ hidden to reveal.....well something~ but I'd want it to end legendary, I wouldn't want to keep continuing it like it was memeable garbage. and sadly that's all I saw SB as... so he has a point....and I don't blame him for dropping out since I did too after that.
@@theftking oh hehehe I do, I have a gaming channel :3 it's sadly not much cause well ...the algorithm is....garbage xD But I mostly make comics/animations, post my let's plays while discussing whatever is on my mind, and currently editing a fun LOZ theory! All I have on this channel of mine is behind the scenes of modeling characters, some decent animations of my series, and a Prologue of my manga series (soon to have chapter 1) since this channel is for my original artwork while the gaming channel is strictly for franchises. This gal keeps herself busy. I'm just kind of..how should I put it? the shadow of the internet right now lol
Totally agree! I used to be very angry about everything that came out of Fnaf, because honestly it's bad, or it doesn't do justice to what Fnaf was at the time. It started to affect how I viewed the entire franchise in general. So I stopped giving importance to them, the saga ended in Pizzeria Simulator, I had a great childhood, now it's up to the others, and if that means that what I wanted is gone, well. I have to accept it
@@joshke335 Amen to that. tbh to me, the saga ended in Simulator the rest that were created were just for fan service and to keep p with demands of more. That's what I believe probably happened. Literally the saying "how the mighty have fallen" really sums up what had happened. I get it's hard to let go of your own series and let it die off slowly, but just cause it ends the memories and fanbase will always be around. Scott sadly did more harm then good trying to keep it alive as long as he possibly could. :/ I think a lot after this dropped out of FNAF I think even Markiplier did as well since he didn't even care to go really go back, I think he jst did once for a stream to keep promoting "markiplier in spaaaccee" xD but I could tell throughout his time playing the "magic" of fnaf even for him was gone. tbh and maybe it's just me, I always wondered what scott would do after fnaf? just retire? or make mini side games of other characters for fun? *shrugs* I just...ya know...dont think it should've been dragged like this. and it seems you're feeling the same on that
@@savageratentertainment I came late to the community, it was my cousin who showed me Fnaf 3, and I loved it, I grew up with the franchise and I have always respected and loved Scott very much, I would love for the saga to continue infinitely, but critically, the best thing was to finish fnaf in the 3rd or 4th game. SL and Pizzeria Simulator were just an extension, but at least they gave it an ending. Currently I feel that fnaf no longer exists, neither the community nor that essence. Fnaf VR was the ultimate touch of nostalgia. I tried to get used to it or force myself to like SB, but honestly I couldn't, it's a game that seems mediocre to me, in many aspects. The community I grew up in stabbed me in the back , they kicked me out of a group for showing disgust for SB. And well, it affected me, I was very angry, but I understood that this had to happen, it was sad but you have to accept it
Bruh, the thing about Phil saying he wanted to put chucky in a cage, ME TOO ME DAMN TOO! I LOVED IT SO MUCH AND WANT TO DO THAT! Now I can and already have, I bought a bird cage and a good guy doll and put him in.
So I mostly agree with Phisnom's point of view. It's important to be tough on games to see them grow. But I feel like there's a difference between criticism and cynicism. If you present an idea critically, you present it in a way shows it's flaws, but also points out how it could improve. Cynicism is just being negative for the sake of being negative. I feel like there's a lot of people who think being cynical is being critical, when it's... really not. As important as it is to point out flaws, it's also important to show the good something has. It's important to highlight what something does right as much as it is to point out what's wrong. If you only ever see the flaws, you're gonna think it's nothing but trash. It's important to do both.
I respect Phisnoms personal beliefs but YIKES he has some TERRIBLE takes in regards to how you should handle your opinions, do NOT take anything he says to heart because if you start acting cold and heartless just to justify your own opinions existing, that's how you lose connections and no it sure as fuck isn't worth it
Right. I get where he's coming from, but a lot of the time it just seems like he's cynical for cynicism's sake, you know? Even in situations where it's not helpful for anyone. You're right- that's exactly how you lose connections, and it's typically over petty stuff, too. That, and it makes people hesitate *to* connect, and that's not very good, either.
@oliver I don't think anyone was talking about his SB criticism here... Edit: even if they were, just look at how he reacts to people. He's over the top, at best.
Since he makes good stuff, its just he has no filter. He publishes games as fast as possible (then he fixes the bugs over time), so he is an overall really good game creator and can give valid criticism, I'm not trying to make him look perfect, hes just good at what he does
I noticed the title had little to no clickbait. It had absolutely zero exaggeration, and was straight to the point. I'm assuming that that was one of the thing Phil requested in order for him to decide to do the interview? Just wondering. Either way, I'm glad this video exists. FNaF+ is the fangame I was most excited for from the Fanverse initiative. Edit: OK, you completely changed it.
Phil wanted the title to be "FNAF PLUS DEV _EATS BABIES_ ?!", so I think you're mistaken. Phil and I deliberately went out of our way to make the most absurd thumbnail/title combo we could. _FNAF PLUS EXPOSED_ was also in the running, but... I just couldn't do that. The video has _nothing_ to do with FNAF PLUS Anyway, none of my videos are clickbait. Clickbait is misleading. If you regularly mislead your viewers, they're gonna get pissed off. People need to understand that a dramatic, attention-grabbing headline _isn't clickbait._ When you call someone a "clickbaiter", you're calling them a _liar._ Family channels insinuating that their child has been diagnosed with a deadly illness, only for it all to be bs? Yeah, _that's clickbait._ If my video says "WHY SCOTT CANCELLED AFTONBUILT", you can bet that I'm gonna be talking about why Scott cancelled _Aftonbuilt._ I made thumbnail/titles that I think will entice people to click the video. That's the _entire purpose_ of thumbnails - drawing attention to and differentiating one's video. It's so funny hearing kids complain about "clickbait"; _they know not true clickbait._ They don't remember the long-long-ago when literally every UA-cam thumbnail was a busty woman in a bikini. Even MatPat and Phillip DeFranco were doing it
@@theftking jeez now thats a response. i respect your honesty, and i feel annoyed when people call everything enticing "clickbait" congrats on your fast growth dude

@@theftking clickbait isn't always entirely misleading. There's also partial truth clickbait, or exaggeration clickbait. Before, it was passive, and now it's exaggerated. Why did you change it, though?
I love the quote at the end, that struck a chord with me. I think Phisnom is on to something, cant wait to see how fnaf plus and his future projects turn out
It's important to be critical of the things you love even when you do like them and Phisnom is a real one for understanding that. Fans shouldn't pull their punches just because they like something. My favorite video games are the ones that I complain the most about because the closer a game gets to perfect, the more frustrating that it is that it's not perfect. We shouldn't just criticize Security Breach because it's bad, we should also criticize the good games because they are good. For example, Super Smash Bros. Melee is a lot of fun but Pokefloats can go straight to hell.
I'd have to agree, Security Breach is almost completed and them saying it's all good really speaks volumes for how all future games will be released from them. If they want a good game, they shouldn't promise a deadline, they should promise a finished game
I never knew that Phisnom made "A Shadow Over Freddy's", I still hate that game at heart, not because it was bad, but because it was TOO good and scary, like I watched people like fusion play that game for like the first night and had nightmares for up until I forgot about it 5 years ago, I still remember freaking out at night thinking that the shadow-y bonnie figure was going to creep up next to my bed....
While I agree with Phisnom about SB being terrible. I feel like he’s not looking at both sides of the discussion. And I feel like he’s forcing his opinion on others, whether they agree with him or not. Is SB a bad game? Yes. Are people allowed to enjoy it, despite its numerous flaws? Also yes. All I’m saying is, Phis should probably dial back the hostility a bit, or else his anger will get him into deep trouble.
While this is a great point I think that blunt and unwavering criticism could to steel wool a lot of good. Criticism is like a kick in the pants, you fall over but have the choice of getting right back up again and trying again or you can just keep doing what you had done and just keep getting kicked.
@@captainleonox3818 I’m not saying blunt criticism is a bad thing, like you said, it can be used for good. But I’m saying that Phis is using too much blunt criticism. And that may come back to bite him in the arse in the future.
@@beastmaster0934 that is also true. there could be another aspect that hasn't entirely been discussed from what I've seen. Phis has been under a lot of stress lately so the extra spicy criticism could possibly be a way of venting, not that its a good one, but it could be.

I think he actually addressed it. So many who have criticized SB haven't been up front about it and tend to just blend into the mass, not really standing out. I think what Phil did was a necessary "evil". He was blunt, but from what was shown in the video, I have yet to see any ad hominem be used. You can't censor criticism to your specific liking. You can criticize the use of threats, insults, straw man arguments etc., but can't complain by saying for instance "he said it was abysmal which was unnecessarily harsh, he could've just said bad". For some people things aren't just bad, they are truly abysmal.
The thumbnail of this video "The Evil behind fnaf+", honestly gave me a spook. I read it at first as "The person who made this is an evil person", not as like "The process behind the idea of this game", if that makes any sense, and got genuinely sad for a second cause i was really, and still am, looking forward to it. It's not like a clickbait title, but the thought of whether or not another fnaf fangame is going away is always kinda sad to think about
I agree with him about FNAF Security Breach that not only was it easy to break, it was executed and preformed very poorly for all the hype it was given. Everyone was looking forward to it just to have a easy to break, ok game released. It also felt like Steel Wool cut content out to get it out faster because they were running out of money, resulting in a mostly finished game with missing content that was poorly tested. Scott would never have done that to get it out faster, he wouldn't make it himself because he would have known he didn't have what takes to make it. Most of us would have been ok with it if it took another year to release as long as it turned out to be a good game, which didn't happen, even after all the delays.
This interview is easily one of the most fascinating I've heard within the franchise. Scott and Phil clearly have very differing beliefs and techniques when it comes to developing a product, but their values in doing so are the exact same.
Even if im not a personal fan of his attitude often, there's no denying Phil knows horror and is extremely skilled at game development. I commend him for speaking his mind openly even if i dont always agree or im generally not as critical. And I cannot WAIT for FNaF + It's easily the fnaf project im the most excited for.
@@apairofglasses775 they literally said that, despise disliking Phisnom's attitude, they appreciate the work that he does and cannot wait for FNAF+. Now come on grandpa, let's get you a reading comprehension.
Honestly I love that Phil is so brutal on the franchise. I think someone who doesn't hide their opinions, even if they are harsh, is a respectable person. Because if there was no brutal honesty, then things would never get better. Long story short, I love Phil and I can't wait for Fnaf plus. Glad work theft king!!
Tbh, just wanna say that id laugh if FNAF went back to it's roots and he came back to FNAF. Like just completely back peddling on the whole done with FNAF thing. I agree with a lot he's said. It's just something id find funny.
I don't get how anyone can be upset about this Phisnom having critiques and disliking the below average Security Breach game. Sounds to me like if you're upset about an actual artist / game dev having critique, you're either a child, or an extremely low tier artist. Critique is extremely necessary and the fact that this "fanbase" thinks it's wrong to point out why a game is bad and how they would improve it, is bad, makes me think this fanbase is pretty sucky to begin with.
Huh, this actually opened my eyes to Phisnom, I just heard "He's a a*hole" and went with the crowd, but now that I now more about him and his philosophy I can respect him as a creator and fan
To be fair he kinda is, but not for the SB comments, more for his rude conduct towards other creators. Not that I'm trying to cancel him or whatever, far from it, but he does have a habit of looking down on others (in the community)
@@Bylethisop off the top of my head, when he blew up at dawko for asking if there was any news on fnaf plus, not to mention the weird tweet about blocking anyone who "can't mentally handle" his account. Again, not trying to cancel, but I'm certain I can find more examples if I just scroll through his Twitter for a little while. A lot of his "bluntness" really just comes off as mean spirited, at times. (And fyi this isn't about SB drama because I don't really like it myself)
Actual legend, Phil is literally one of the funniest people to watch and is very talented at what he does. I honestly respect him more then anyone else in this community for not just dealing with shit we are given but fighting back for something he cared about and still sticking with his word to finish Fnaf Plus and possibly giving us the best Fnaf game.
The interview is finally here! I find it hilarious that all of this started from Phisnom thinking that FNAF was another game that he played in the past, imagine if he just ignored the game on steam, none of this wouldve happened.
I just have looked at your subscriber count and I cant believe you have almost 200k.I watch you since your first theories about gregory being a robot and your video about what went wrong with SB etc. And I remember when you were celebrating 10k-100k
I’ve loved FNAF since the original trilogy days. I agreed with every single blunt criticism Phisnom had with SB. I could not be more excited for Plus because of it. I know he’ll do his best to make sure it doesn’t flop, and I absolutely love how blunt and honest he is. Here’s to FNAF+’s success in the future.
I really don't understand why people are mad at Phil anyway, him criticizing something that he loves shows that he is willing to understand the flaws of it and trying to make it better for is game
@@shadowmasterking6542 Exactly! Literally anyone who looks through my messages in the FNAF Discord will see how much I criticize the main franchise too lol If you criticize the franchises you love, then you care about ensuring that it’s *good.*
So…a bunch of people in the community are mad because some people won’t kiss the company’s ass? What they released IS an absolute disappointment. What they released makes the community look like they’ll settle. The fan games have done better than Steel Wool. And that’s not really an opinion at this point.
Man, it seems when one thing happens, someone else has to cry about something in the FNAF fandom these days. Why people are always trying to cause issues is beyond me, but I guess that's what happens
@@x-nimator9997 nah, it wasn't this dramatic in 2014 to early 2015 because it wasn't overran by children that do nothing but whine and cry about the littlest things smh. They need to learn that it isn't their game, it's the devs and Scott's, what he says goes and if they can't handle that they can just leave instead of threatening and harassing people
I would just change the thumbnail, because it seems like its telling that Phil did something bad like what ultranite did or Jonochrome, so I would change it so its not misleading
I'm at the same point as Phisnom, for me the franchise I grew up with ended with Pizzeria Simulator, Fnaf VR was a beautiful hit of nostalgia, but from that point on the franchise is no longer even the shadow of what it was. And honestly, the community is terrible, I was kicked out of a group just for making an OBJECTIVE review of Security Breach, that's crap
@@AndrewJohn100 lol I never said that the franchise would fall for that, I just don't like how it turned, referring to the direction it took, it feels like it became very childish and with a lot of wasted potential
I hope someday phisnom learns that having a serious case of eternally online isn’t really a good thing and sometimes you do need to not say anything. That doesn’t override his amazing skills in game development and I’m still excited for fnaf+
While i do agree that criticism is important when making a game, that you shouldn't hide yourself or ignore others when they're supposed to be helping you, i feel there should also be a certain line drawn somewhere. Namely, the line that separates constructive criticism, that helps developpers better their games and enhace the experience for the players, from free insults, that only serve to belittle someone/something and don't raise any particular flaw or problem of the subject, and offer much less of a way to fix it. Now from what i hear, Phil (if i may call him that way) mostly does constructive criticism, considering he seems to have picked out actual flaws in the games and even proposed a solutionto those problems. i only hope that he knows that the blunt approach to criticising a game can annoy the dev and push them away more than actually help them understand what's wrong with the game ; and that it's sometimes hard to make out the difference between someone that wants a change because they truely believe that it'll be a healthy thing for the game, and someone that wants a game where only they get to win more than a healthly balanced game.
I remember when Phil had a pretty bad rep in the fnaf community once the fanverse started, but im glad the view on him has changed and i trully think he deserves this apritiation, the care and love he is putting in the series is astonishing!
Phis is just an amazing human being, not an amazing person, that takes years of personally knowing someone to judge. But a nice enough human/eldritch being.
I personally loved security breach, and that is a valid opinion. phisnom did not like it, that is also valid. everyone is entitled to their own opinions. don't hate people for having differing opinions.
Gregory,Do you see the small vent on the floor? Have you ever heard of among us,Gregory? You need to vent. I know it will be hard for you to be sus but I know you can do it Gregory.
I think the problem with phisnom is that since he lacks a filter when it comes to expressing himself he can be seen as a jackass but with good lonele wolf intentions, for example imagine you are struggling with a level and someone comes to you saying he can do it with his hands tight perfect, that is phisnom, considering all the struggles popgoes went through and all his scrapped sequels, hearing about phisnom came out with those comments just make me thing he is a jackass, that can do good alone, but can't work with others and doesn't know the feeling of being rushed, push, and other difficulties when dealing with a team.
There are some dog breeds that doesn't make any sound (maybe except for their paws when they're running?) when they're hunting So that might be what phisnom was dealing with
I have a friend in a similar situation. She was a fanfic writer for Undertale (more importantly one its AU's called Underfell) and was really good at it. She planned out the fanfic to a T and whenever I asked her any certain details or questions about the story she was making she would have an answer for it. No plotholes, no issues, nothing. everything had a purpose as someone who loves digging deep into lore of stories it was just appreciative. She was also asked to help write the diolog of one of the characters for an undertale fangame. About a year ago she had quit the Undertale fandom. This was for a lot of reasons, she was being treated very poorly by the fans getting hate for "copying" other people (most of these claims fell flat as most of the accusations were ideas that she made LONG before other content creators made similar ideas), along with this there was some drama between her and another undertale content creator that caused her to lose almost all her friends from the fandom. She is still working on the fangame and after that wont be working on anything undertale anymore. What she does now is a lot better. She does streaming for the most part and have been really fun to watch! On top of that she has been making strides to make her own content. She is currently working on her own story that is just as deep and complex as the underfell fanfic that I admire her for and I am proud of how far she has gone in that year.
now that he said it i do believe fnaf security breach did not end up as i imagined. even if he does leave fnaf i will look forward to his next project. he understands the level of quality that is required for a modern game.
I'm gonna be honest, I wasn't really happy about SB either, it didn't solve or give anything to the lore It looks good and such, but is filed with bugs I would've liked something to solve the actual lore; like, maybe newspaper clippings instead of notes in that one room?
Honestly I don't know why people hate on phisnom for his statements on security breach Everything he said in his rant was either completely right or completely justified
After this video, fiz is in a controversy base on his opinions about a video game that he is brutally Honest about? Many does not want to hear / agree with his "ugly trues" he is consider a problem? That is a short sighted way of thinking and some kind of echo chamber.
the biggest thing that this video has taught me is that i am absolutely terrified of how scary FNAF Plus is going to be. if Phisnom could make A Shadow Over Freddy's in just under a month, what the fuck has he been doing for the game that's taken over a year to make???
What Phisnom said about criticising games we love is absolutely true. There are multiple games I play that have a ton of issues. A lot of people make their voice known about this. Sometimes the company listens, sometimes they don't. But what is always consistent with complaints is that: A. The people who make them get criticised themselves for even DARING to criticise the game. B. The people who complain are usually people who have been in the community for a long time, have their career based around the game or are very passionate about it.
**THERE IS NO CONTEST; YOU HAVEN'T WON A PRIZE. DON'T TEXT ANY NUMBERS IN ACCOUNT NAMES.**
Thanks again to Phisnom for participating in the interview, and for helping me design the thumbnail/title!!!
**Which Fanverse game are you guys most excited for?**
Love your vids
Fnaf+ and candys 4
fnaf+ definetely
I'd personally say Popgoes Evergreen
I’m excited for Candy’s 4 because if it’s anywhere as good as Candy’s 2 (the perfect game), it will be top tier
I made it into a theft king video 😎
Great vid btw.
Hello there Fusion
We love you fusion!!
Congratulations fusion
e.
@Mr Big Brother YT Seems you got bad taste in what a good passionate game looks like.
@Mr Big Brother YT Okay cool your opiniob but that's pretty unpopular, alot of people already are excited.
Also bad taste does exist so cope
@Mr Big Brother YT seems like you got a big ego
*lets
Ironic that blunt criticism seems to be one of the reasons behind the pair’s controversy
Also nice Transition from you to Scott and the variants of phisnom at 12:21
another successful video.
one of the first things i was told when entering a game design course was "dont be precious, be ready to take criticism and throw away bad ideas" because thats how you make a good game, a lot of games often fall short by taking the first idea they had, finding that it doesnt work but sticking to it because they are too scared to start over.
Less colorful and more scary-looking animatronics, darker areas, more stuff to manage et cetera.
mhm , indeed...as an aspiring artist and storymaker etc..I agree
What's with the edit? lol
It's been an amazing journey but let's hope Phisnom is okay, he's been under some stress with his game
Yeah making a game sounds stressful

@@Goffyahhgameingchair you'd be surprised how much thought, detail, silence and misery goes into games but when it's all over it is either your biggest dream or a colossal misunderstanding.
I'm passionate for game design so I couldn't be happier to see this game nearing it's debut
Well dont let him off the hook he was in the pear incident as a member of the pear
*IIRC, it's how he communicated those criticisms that was the issue, not really the criticisms themselves.*
EDIT: @BeastMaster09
and his comment pretty sums up the true problem with Phisnom's 'communication methods.'
General toxicity and severe unprofessionalism; which no matter how you try to excuse, deflect, or sugar coat it----is not healthy for any large community.
*Sadly, loving to give out harsh or toxic criticism, but selectively refusing to acknowledge legitimate criticisms of your own actions when they are inconvenient is all too common nowadays.*
EDIT2: Side note, apparently Phisnom has also had some really unnecessary/toxic reactions and beef with other members of the community in the past (mentioned below by @Enternal Memeage), so, if true, previous reputation may have also impacted how the twitter post itself was received, which may have just been a small part of a larger problem.
@@toasteroven6761 I fully agree with you there, I hope it I'd be a simple misunderstanding rather than Phisnom deflecting the question.

I feel like he does it just to call attention to himself...which is also why I feel like he's delayed fnaf plus for this long for that exact reason as well. He seems to love controversy and being the center of attention. I just want this game to come out man.
ok but why does the thumbnail say: the evil behind fnaf plus? like seriously is phisnom really considered a bad person just for having an opinion?

Honestly, I fully respect Phil for his brutal honesty, it makes him seem so much more genuine as a person.
I'm hyped to see not just FNAF plus, but also Porkchop's Horror Show!
No one cares bozo
Though, he's pretty much right (especially with FNAF no longer seeming that scary at this point with colorful merch and all and Security Breach itself), it might be a good idea to be, at least wary of how he uses his honest opinions or else he could get in serious trouble in the future, even with non-FNAF related things.
bruh are you really criticising him for pointing out the obvious flaws with SB and the current direction FNAF is going in?
I have mad respect for Phisnom for his no-filter style of criticizing the series. I agree with just about everything he said about SB, and Steel Wool's mentality regarding it.

tbh as controversial as he can be and weirdly dark he can be; he is right though. They pushed out SB without any second thought and all because of empty threats (Since what would people do? lol. kill them and then no game would happen okay lol)
As a learning game dev myself; and I have an assistant rigger to help me since I'm still new to it, so it's nice to have someone with an degree, well perhaps I shouldn't, I actually promoted him to 2nd official game dev since he doesn't even need to work on the world map etc sometimes all a dev needs to do is help work on the characters, and I promised him great pay if the game does better than expected since he earned it for helping me.
but I told him even, that there is no rush, that there shouldn't be a rush to anything.
For me if it stopped after Pizzeria Simulator that would've been the greatest finale since it summed up everything practically
now it's more confusing, and as MatPat once said it's like trying to throw things at a wall to see what sticks. It's like Steel Wool doesn't have a damn clue what they're doing either. No good guidance.
To what was a wonderful mystery is now a total catastrophe in my eyes. Over saturated, over done. Even I know that series shouldn't over stay its welcome
I understand that this was scotts last big effort to make a game, that he was just a person who worked at Dollar General to make his pay, while learning on his own about game deving and creating.
this was his last chance that he was gonna give himself, and I can understand being so excited about finally, after so long finally something stuck. something stayed. Something was loved that he created and the last thing really, or rather almost like a fear, is watching it slowly die down. but sometimes you just have to let it die as a legend then let it die as a clown.
He could've used whatever money was left to make the big final movie and end it right there and then if he wanted push out more books and that's that.
I think continuing it, is only making it like how Teen Titans was, an amazing show and then now you're making it into like a Teen Titans GO! where it's memed, it's mocked, it's water down
I hope to never do that with my series. I have two. one as a manga and one ....erm it's supposed to be an animated series, thing is though I need an audience for that which is why I thought the video game introducing them as a comedy survival would be the best bet. you get to explore their world, I can put my friends and such in the towns to explore as cute anthros since it's not canon, you get to see tho, their personality, how they would respond to things, see their lives and their antics, have some fun and learn some things. Sure the games aren't canon but that wouldn't mean there wouldn't be.......something~ hidden to reveal.....well something~
but I'd want it to end legendary, I wouldn't want to keep continuing it like it was memeable garbage.
and sadly that's all I saw SB as...
so he has a point....and I don't blame him for dropping out since I did too after that.
I used to write comments like this. Then six months ago I started making videos.
You should consider making videos.

So uhm even when making other series, I keep myself busy. I guess I"m just a workholic lol since on my main channel idk if you really saw since don't blame you lol.
I think a lot after this dropped out of FNAF I think even Markiplier did as well since he didn't even care to go really go back, I think he jst did once for a stream to keep promoting "markiplier in spaaaccee" xD but I could tell throughout his time playing the "magic" of fnaf even for him was gone.
tbh and maybe it's just me, I always wondered what scott would do after fnaf? just retire? or make mini side games of other characters for fun?
I think the title predicted the recent Phisnom drama
Phil when playing the game does have thing that he like about the game albeit very little.
He pretty much said he didn't like Security Breach and the direction FNAF seems to be going in. Which is perfectly fair.
This aged like milk.
Yea, same. Ppl is overly praising him but to me he still is just a bit of an edgelord whose opinion still matters a lot to the fnaf fandom somehow.
@oliver I don't think anyone was talking about his SB criticism here...
Edit: even if they were, just look at how he reacts to people. He's over the top, at best.
Since he makes good stuff, its just he has no filter. He publishes games as fast as possible (then he fixes the bugs over time), so he is an overall really good game creator and can give valid criticism, I'm not trying to make him look perfect, hes just good at what he does
@@memegalodon4522 bruh
Damn that tunnel story was freaky. If that had happened to me as a kid I probably would've crapped my pants.
What if it was the homeless man? I really think that.
The video has _nothing_ to do with FNAF PLUS
Anyway, none of my videos are clickbait.
Yeah, _that's clickbait._
If my video says "WHY SCOTT CANCELLED AFTONBUILT", you can bet that I'm gonna be talking about why Scott cancelled _Aftonbuilt._
I made thumbnail/titles that I think will entice people to click the video.
Even MatPat and Phillip DeFranco were doing it
@@theftking hi theft king
@@theftking jeez now thats a response. i respect your honesty, and i feel annoyed when people call everything enticing "clickbait"

I owe him a high-five for that one, that was the only game that ever scared me THAT bad, THAT quick, and for THAT long!
This aged poorly 💀💀💀
While I agree with Phisnom about SB being terrible.
I feel like he’s not looking at both sides of the discussion.
And I feel like he’s forcing his opinion on others, whether they agree with him or not.
Is SB a bad game?
Yes.
Are people allowed to enjoy it, despite its numerous flaws?
Also yes.
All I’m saying is, Phis should probably dial back the hostility a bit, or else his anger will get him into deep trouble.
Agreed
While this is a great point I think that blunt and unwavering criticism could to steel wool a lot of good. Criticism is like a kick in the pants, you fall over but have the choice of getting right back up again and trying again or you can just keep doing what you had done and just keep getting kicked.
@@captainleonox3818
I’m not saying blunt criticism is a bad thing, like you said, it can be used for good.
But I’m saying that Phis is using too much blunt criticism.
And that may come back to bite him in the arse in the future.
@@beastmaster0934 Yeah I agree, if somehow FNAF Plus does end up sucking than Phisnom's criticisms will be looked at with a lot more scrutiny.
@@beastmaster0934 that is also true. there could be another aspect that hasn't entirely been discussed from what I've seen. Phis has been under a lot of stress lately so the extra spicy criticism could possibly be a way of venting, not that its a good one, but it could be.
*Sadly, loving to give out harsh or toxic criticism, but selectively refusing to acknowledge legitimate criticisms of your own actions when they are inconvenient is all too common nowadays.*
[This post was shared from a comment thread].
edit: It is sad that Phisnom is leaving the FNAF community, any game developer of his quickly grown caliber would be missed.

With all the controversy happening, seeing that thumbnail, I first thought Phisnom did something and was like "Man, not him too."
Even if im not a personal fan of his attitude often, there's no denying Phil knows horror and is extremely skilled at game development.

Now from what i hear, Phil (if i may call him that way) mostly does constructive criticism, considering he seems to have picked out actual flaws in the games and even proposed a solutionto those problems. i only hope that he knows that the blunt approach to criticising a game can annoy the dev and push them away more than actually help them understand what's wrong with the game ; and that it's sometimes hard to make out the difference between someone that wants a change because they truely believe that it'll be a healthy thing for the game, and someone that wants a game where only they get to win more than a healthly balanced game.
phisnom sounds like an actually really chill dude. sounds like he would be fun to play a horror game with "hint hint".

There are some dog breeds that doesn't make any sound (maybe except for their paws when they're running?) when they're hunting
So that might be what phisnom was dealing with
I have a friend in a similar situation.

I don't think Phisnom is in a controversy. The response to him and this video has been overwhelmingly positive so far.
the biggest thing that this video has taught me is that i am absolutely terrified of how scary FNAF Plus is going to be. if Phisnom could make A Shadow Over Freddy's in just under a month, what the fuck has he been doing for the game that's taken over a year to make???
Imagine talking shit about him on stream right after you get a video from him
I think we can all learn from Phisnoms honesty and willingness to stand for what he believes in, especially in the world we live in now.
What Phisnom said about criticising games we love is absolutely true. There are multiple games I play that have a ton of issues. A lot of people make their voice known about this. Sometimes the company listens, sometimes they don't. But what is always consistent with complaints is that:
A. The people who make them get criticised themselves for even DARING to criticise the game.
B. The people who complain are usually people who have been in the community for a long time, have their career based around the game or are very passionate about it.
