It’s been so long since there was an upbeat moment on the Destiny Islands, if it weren’t for Re:Coded, this version would be definitive for every game after 1.
This game on GBA was my first kingdom hearts game (I didn't own a PS2), so I was surprised when I finally played KH1 and the destiny islands music was so upbeat.
@@GiordanDiodatoKH2's version is the one who has the feeling of being back home again. This one is more reminiscent and more melancholic frankly, with the lack of violin and flute making it feel more like a memory rather than being there.
*0:31** Is it me or does this version of the Destiny Island theme has some snippets or references to the Organization XIII theme? Yoko Shimomura is a freaking genius! Since this game takes place in Castle Oblivion, which belongs to the Oganization, this is a really clever nod to their theme*
I would also say that it adds a sinister undertone to the original theme throughout, whether or not adding in the Organization theme is responsible, which is of course brilliant because by this point in the game, Sora's mind has been THOROUGHLY @#$%ed.
The original one has a happy, exciting sound to it. This one has a very relaxing sound to it. One is preparing for an adventure, the other is resting from one.
Well you gotta remember this was when sora was traveling through castle oblivion, this was an illusion based on his memories and that’s why it felt empty and scary
@@OmegaVideoGameGod When Riku visited this world in this game it was pretty sad since he’s seeing Illusions of his friends and then they disappear right away to show that he pushed them away in the past. Also he of course remembers what he did that night to the Islands too and that’s I think when Riku starts to try to become a better person(at least I believe so).
I agree and playing these games in order is nightmare fuel how they just introduce organization 13 and we didn't know who we were fighting@@soraandkairi1194
These easily emulable KH games already feel well old and nostalgic. I remember when I had no PS consoles, and all I could rely on to play KH and keep up with the story was my old trustworthy DSi and my PC to emulate GBA. The rest would be scarce cutscenes on UA-cam from highlighted moments of the franchise. KH has come a long way since then. In a way, coming back to these older titles and feeling nostalgic is represented with this song, at least to me.
Just arrived to this part today My brain could only think of the Everywhere at the End of Time album because this sounds eerily like it could fit there I hate how fitting it is, it's just a burning chain of memories
I've always found it stupid that this music plays in a way that indicates that the game is almost over despite the fact that Destiny Islands is not the final level it's actually the second last level and both it and the actual final level in Castle Oblivion are annoyingly long levels with several bosses you need to take out so really at this point the game is anything but close to over essentially the game overstays it's welcome
You're not living until you listen to this at an actual beach.
I'm doing it right now
At sunset would be even better

KH1's is supposed to represent childhood innocence
CoM's is supposed to represent reminiscence and that you're finally back home again.

GBA ver. of CoM was my first KH, played this when I was 11. Now, 15 years later, I still listen to this when I sleep. How time flies...
It is a shame that I can't find any hour long versions of this, the only hour long or 10 hour long ones are of the upbeat kh1 version.
@@jackeyesteon9427 no need extended version, just loop the video and you'll find yourself fast asleep.
@@clasycist I only have one problem, I can't loop it on my TV and I charge my other devices while I sleep.
I agree time is just a number, certain things never have to change.

When you're stressed listen to this.......
I like how this one doesn't get annoying quickly...
It just feels empty
No happy vibes from previous Destiny Island themes, just... Nothing

I miss this so much!!! 😍🥰💕💕
This always makes me feel at home. Where I'm destined to be. With all honesty. Stay awake. Live Rich.
