When I was young, I used to ask my mom why she has hair growing from her chin and why she has dimples in her skin. She would always say in the kindest way "just keep livin" you'll understand. Now at 50 I understand everything!

I’m 68 and I worked 2 jobs while taking care of my momma and grandma. My Sons are 44 and 46 and always are saying Ma I don’t know how you did it. I did it out of love and it was the right thing to do. Plus I had their college tuitions to pay and make sure they were straight as their Mom like my Mom did for me. Now that I’m retired they make sure I’m straight! God Bless them. ❤

I must say that I am aging gracefully at 76 years old. I try to stay active working in my little garden, going for walks in the park with my husband 5 days a week for 45 min., and riding my bike. I can't do everything that I use to do in my younger years, but I try to keep active. Also, my 12 grandchildren keep me young minded , reading 📚 and playing puzzle games. Do my body ache sometimes, yes it does. People sometimes think that my oldest daughter (58 years old) is my sister, lol 😂, but I am very grateful unto God for keeping me and my husband through many trials and tribulations. 🙏❤️🙏

Aging varies widely depending on the life stressors one endures as well as how one handles those stresses. Our mental health also plays a role in how we age.

I can definitely relate. My mom is 80, still independent, care for her bedridden husband has traveled to visit me in Saudi Arabia twice, once alone.
She fell sick upon her arrival the first time, only to find out she was having withdrawals from zanax she'd been taking since my older brother died, 20 years ago 😮. Yes, 20!!!
That's when I saw for the first time in my life, her vulnerability.
My mom was frail and weak, to me and of course instinct kicked in, to take care of her.

This topic is on point. My cousin and I have had this same conversation about getting older. How we use to think 40, 50, and 60 was really old when we were younger. Now that we're in those age brackets, it's not like what we use to think. Your body will DEFINITELY let you know your age. I'm in the parenting a parent phase right now.

I'm from the dirty south and I lived on the west coast for 15 yrs and now I'm back home. So yes I see a big difference in how we age in the south compared to the west. People are more active, conscious of what they eat and care about their bodies and physique. Especially the 50 and older, they have beach bodies which is amazing to see!!! Now that I'm 50, I look very different from my mother and grandmother, meaning how I dress, my personality, my eating habits, my daily activities and how I interact with my children and grandchildren. I think it's all in the soul or spirit because I have always been the same adventurous youthful spirit. I am very active and have always cared about my body and what I eat which has kept me looking younger than my true age. I went Vegan 4 yrs ago due to my health and wish I would have done it much sooner. My grandmother lived to be 90 yrs old and my mother lived to be only 55 yrs old and my goal is to live past 100 yrs old. I have tried to introduce my new Vegan eating habits to my family in the south and it's been a challenge. LOL they refuse to give up eating MEATS and processed foods!!! My Dad will not stop even after removing 1 of his lungs due to cancer. So all I can do is be there to support him through his health journey. One of my sons and my Hubby is on board with me and a few of my grandchildren so this is breaking family curses and change will come... Peace Love and Light.

We were just talking about this among friends. For example, 60 looks different now than years ago. 60 seemed “old” and presented as old, slower less active. 60 year olds today seems so much younger, active and vibrant. Tab has a point in thinking maybe because we are older we think about it differently.

Today, people generally carry age different than folks in 50s, 60s, 70s and 80s....We no longer let society tell us we are old and should dress old...People now eat healthier, get better sleep, take supplements and take better care of themselves. We dress younger as well. We live and let live and we are thriving as we garner more knowledge about health and wellness...I told someone the other day...I will not be doing my 50s like my Granny or ancestors...baby Im gonna thrive, live and be healthy and look good doing it. So its a new mindset around aging and I Love it

Y'all are so right when you say "... I feel the same..." BUT when your body reminds you that you're aging, it's a jolt of reality that can be heart stopping, literally as well as figuratively.
I'm 45, battling MCTD (Mixed Connective Tissue Disease) while trying to see after my dad who is 69 and has been in a nursing home for the last year, and my mom who is 63 battling the "Big C" and early stages of dementia all while STILL working and being out-and-about like she a young twenty-something. I'm an only child and it's stressful as all get out but I can't help it; they need me and I don't mind doing it.

My father passed at 62 liver cancer… was alcoholic when he was younger but changed his life for the better in his 30yrs on but it caught up with him. He passed so sudden I took care of him with my mom enough to know I did my duty. But learning more now I’m
Glad my mother is a person she tooo fast and she take care of herself I don’t worry to slow down a lil just retired 50yrs and aging gracefully etc but I’m trying my best to model to take care of of myself much as I can to age well like my mother is now and my late father did till he did then ❤

There is a dedlicate balance in allowing them to maintain some independence however safety comes first so the child has to act as the parent in LOVE not control. I thank God he allowed us to keep both parents in their home during theri short term illness before God called them home. Dad was 88 Mom was 86.

Aging definitely looks differently based on where you live. I lived in Chicago and would be out until 3/4am with ppl in their 60s and it was normal. In the South I can barely get my 30/40 yr old friends to come out.

Born in Baldwin Hills ( The Jungle) moved to the South 2 yrs ago, married a southern man. There is a difference. I go home often. I feel like I've aged 10 yrs. Also, experiencing culture shock. Living in LA, you take fit or granted the rich experiences. I love it here but it is an adjustment. Trying get him to move to the Westcoast 😂❤ 🙏

This was such a funny and good episode and very true. I fuss at my mom and grandma about stuff because i want them to be around, but I do need to give them grace. Hey Chance, youre momma gonna get youuuuu😂😂😂. But Tab when you said about how you feel young but other things going on.. OMG.. YESSS. My body just told me on Wednesday, no more red meat. I said..WHATTTT😢. I'M JAMAICAN 😂😂. I must have my tings.. but my body said.. Nah chick.. So yes aging is a whole thing and im now embracing it. ❤❤. Thanks for this yall!! I love y'all so much.

MY DAD DIED YOUNG AT 47 AND I WAS YOUNG. I DIDN'T HAVE AN OPPORTUNITY TO CARE FOR HIM BUT MY MOM AND STEP DAD I WAS ABLE TO QUIT MY JOB TO HELP CARE FOR THEM UNTIL THEY PASSED AWAY. I TOOK MY MOM TO SO MANY DOCTOR APPOINTMENTS AND I AM THANKFUL I WAS THERE TO DO IT. I AM APPROACHING 47 NOW AND I THINK OF MY DAD SO MUCH THE CLOSER I GET TO MY BIRTHDAY. LIFE DEFINITELY LOOKS DIFFERENT FOR ME WITHOUT MY PARENTS HERE AND THE REALIZATION THAT NOW I AM THE GRANDMOTHER NOW.
