Would have any wood burning stove make the bees eat bees eat more honey over the winter, And may starve them?

Just wondering how much one should try to grow that hive during winter. Raising baby bees takes a lot of resources which makes the bees eat more food which means they have to use the restroom. It will be interesting to see how it turns out. I'm sure you will learn a lot about doing it for the future. Best way to learn is doing it.

You are right on all counts. We figure that they should stay warm enough in the house to be able to raise some brood. We purposely put a very small hive in there that was never going to make it over the winter here. We will see what happens!

Just hope you don't live in an earthquake prone area with a setup like that, not only a shaken swarm but loose in the house if it were to break open. It should be secured from top as well too IMHO. Wouldn't mind a bee house set up with a few like that though. Would be better with some expansion options though as Hives do shrink and grow.

Funny! Yea that would be bad. It does have the room to add for more frames up top when it grows in the spring.
