God bless you. You really helped me out with gas welding. Your videos disappeared from my feed, and the first time in a long time I got notified of a video from you, and it’s an eight year old video. ? Anyway, be good. Take care.
Wow! I just discovered your channel and within 15 minutes I learned so many things. I really struggle with math and I have a hard time figuring out the correct angles in my wood working. Some of the tips and tricks you are showing make it really simple to understand. Thank you so much!!
Ethan, Cool video on the t-bevel. It's amazing how the "basic" tools are rarely discussed and how meaningful they are. The demo you showed about the 2-degree difference in the miter cuts was insightful because, as you said, it could impact the project where length is concerned. I now use this tool to determine accuracy of inside corners of my cabinet boxes and even squareness of ceiling-to-wall measurements for framing. Thanks for providing both tool basics and (clear) examples! -Derrick
Just would like to say thank u it was an old carpenter at one of my jobs one day had told me about a t buckle and I broke one. Never had anybody show me how to use it
Thanks for taking the time to make these videos for "the rest of us". I like your down to earth approach and right at home accent. Plus - you make me think of how David Crowder would approach wood working... :)
Great video, I need to get one of the T-Bevels so I can get the angles I need off the base that my wood-stove sits on so I can finish the trim around it. Did the flooring last year and just kind of eye-balled the measurements for the lengths of the flooring. I have trim to put around the base to cover up the space I just couldn't find anything that would give me the angles...now I know exactly what I'm going to need. Thank you for a great video. You have some awesome easy to understand instructions on many of these measuring tools. The speed square and carpenter's squares are great tools, and learned how to use them several years ago while I was in junior high school because I saw all the markings and took the time and had my shop teacher explain the markings, and how to use them.
Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge.Your humble way of teaching makes learning a pleasure. When I learn something new it enriches my life, and in turn, someone else's too.
Great Job , Thank you for sharing ! .. I learned a lot from you watching your videos about tool tips tonight .. I know no big deal for lot of people out there but for us absolute beginners these kind of videos gives us the encouragement to move on to the next thing and/with our little projects using these tools .. Knowledge is everything as they say ..
This was awesome, I have owned both tools used in this vid for some time I bought the speed square because I knew it was useful but had no idea how to use it. you also gave me many more uses for the T-bevel gage thank you :)
big fan of all your videos you show,I've learned a great deal. I'm new with working with routers. please show a video on basics on how to perfect this machine.thank you
+Classic Work thank you for responding back to my request. looking forward to the video. I know you are very busy, so no rush, just whenever you get the time.thanks
Nice video and well presented. I'm a plasterer by trade although since work is drying up, I have been needing to take on any job. As I'm a perfectionist I like doing quality work. This is useful for brick paving. Also building pergolas. Thanks. I have the sliding bevel and drawing up some angles on the computer.
Ethan buddy, your videos are so damn helpful. I'm just starting out in hobby carpentry and I've been watching all your videos. Thanx so much for the help an keep up the good work
The two examples aren't identical. In the first example, the brass part of the bevel gauge extends to the left of the brass. In the second example, it doesn't, which suggests that you weren't holding the bevel gauge in the same place in both examples. It's possible that I've made an error in my observation, but I don't think I did. Just the same, I like your videos. Very informing!
My question is , can I use this tool to determine angle cuts on valley rafters or any other rafters. . . I really appreciate what you are doing for people like me who learning stuff like this on UA-cam. I still have. a problem to cut rafters on a gable roof edition to cover my porch . . I am watching your channels to understand more about measurements and cuts. THANKS for this video.
I'm sorry? Man you taught me more in a few minutes than most teachers and coworkers have in many years. Thank you.
Thanks for all the information. I just picked up this tools at a garage sale. I will continue watching all your videos.
Well done. Nice seeing the traditional methods and not just another digital solution.
As a retired and disabled carpenter, I enjoyed this walk down memory lane. Thanks.

Yes it can. There are easier ways of doing it though that's why it is not used for that.
I've found that my old carpenter's tools also work for my new jewelry making hobby. An angle is an angle, whether it's on pine, cardboard or silver.
Good video! Thanks for posting it. Spend some time in the gym, start with arm curls.
