    There a still quite a few E9 Mack's being run by aficionados down under here in Australia, I drove a couple of straight pipe 500hp E9 Superliners in Western NSW in the late 90's and they could be heard coming 2 miles out of town early in the morning, always liked the Mack 12 speedbox.

      I also drove mack r600 mod 350 Cummins 9spd like the old saying goes if it ain't a mack you might as well take it back same goes for a cat machinces 👍👍

      thats correct.......especially when pulling doubles......the thumping would approach and then as it went past, the howl of the 12 speed would wash over the observer.

    I worked at a company in the 80's and 90's that had three Superliners with the V-8s. We pulled dump trailers and lowboys with them. They had the pulling power but drank the fuel. That's a very solid truck you have there.

      The E-9s in Australia were capable of getting 6 mpg as a standard semi @ 42.5 T or around 85000 pounds. But add a lowboy and they"ll work a bit harder. The E-9 Mack was also one of the first B train engines along with the 8V92TA Detroit . Cummins never figured as they didn't have enough power until the Signature came out.

    You're living my dream right there, WOW!
    I've always been a MACK trucks fan, but my ultimate wish was to own a Superliner E9 just like the one you found down to the color and class.
    Please take good care of it and make it look like when it came out of the factory. Would love to see more videos of this beauty 👍

    My all time favorite truck. If they came with twin stacks it had a 500hp V8 and if it was single stack it had a 350hp straight 6. Company my father drove for custom ordered 2 roll off trucks in 89. They have a plaque on the passenger side of the dash that says CUSTOM BUILT FOR BERKSHIRE CLEANWAY, DALTON MA. The driver's asked to have them single stack but with the E9 500. So people thought they had 350's in them until they took off. Haha you can get good power out of those E9's. 👍👍

    My grandfather’s “retirement rig” was an ‘87 Superliner with the E7 350 straight six, 9 speed. Can’t remember how many oil changes, lube jobs, & washes/waxing I did on that truck for my grandpa, that’s how I fell in love with Mack Trucks. Good luck with that old bulldog.

      the E7-350 "four valve" mack engines were incredibly good for what they were......very simple,reliable,fuel efficient and lots of pulling power, they could equal a 400 V8 Mack or a 400 Cummins no problem.

    Is it a Mack motor or a Cat 3408... The Mack motor is epic sounding. Love it. They are Fantastic trucks that sound as great as they look. Scrappy Insudstries got one and cleaned it all up inside and out and haul all their heavy equipment with it. Love to see you do a series on this truck for sure. An all around great feature to have on a youtube channel. Those Mack motors are low frequency Earth Quakers lol

    the rather problematic Mack 9 speed box........front sections are fine, its the rear range change section that gives the trouble, once the multi pack clutches start to wear, they make pretty horrible noises when shifting hi/lo range. She idles nice, the injector pump is in decent shape.......when they "roll" at idle, you know they are getting old and need work.

      Bled the fuel and checked it all over, adjusted all the brakes. It took a while but once it got fuel up to the injectors it fired right up. I’m upset I never got all that on video.

    How much is the regular consumption of that engine? Let's say every 100 km?

    • @wazza33racer
      @wazza33racer 4 місяці тому

      depends on the load........grossing 80 metric tons on road trains, we were getting 1.4km per liter. By comparison, a NTC-400Cummins would get about 1.6 km per liter. The V8 Mack was not fuel efficient, despite the charge air cooler.

      It’s a E9-500, Mack 9 speed and rear ends, I think 4:74 gear ratio, Nu Way air ride. It was ordered by a fuel company out of a town near Scranton so it hauled a tanker all its life.
