Dude, great video. Best kicks I've ever bought were the centennial edition 992's. Got em from the new balance outlet here in Lawrence Massachusetts. Most comfortable and longest last sneaker ever.

New Balance 99x has been my go to line of shoes for years and I've walked around in them so much starting with the 998, 990, 997 then 990v2, 991, 993 and now 992, just got the navy 992. My favourites are 997, 998 and 992. Not 99x but the 2002r are great as well. Cheers!

Solid comparison and great video - just earned yourself a new subscriber! In my experience, i found that 990v5 and 993 are the most comfortable, 993 might be more just because it has a smoother balance of bouncy cushion and firmness. I love the 992 as well but find it a bit too soft the longer you wear them (probably the softest of all the models you compared)

991 as my all time favourite in every category. Then 993 and then 990v4/5. Wasn’t feeling the 992. Yes, 992 and up sized a little bit bigger, so 991 was a 9.5 and the 992, 993, v5 were all size 9 for me.

Go with your regular size. If you own made in USA new balance sneakers, I would go with a half size up.

I own 990 v 4 and V5 , v4 is very comfortable. I also own 993s they are slightly heavier and bit more supportive as well very comfie. It hard to find sneakers that are more comfortable. However, people with narrower or smaller feet 11 or less and d width have much great choices

993 is the best shoe New Balance has ever made. I've tried so many models of NB shoes and the 993 is the only one that fits me well. They better never stop making these. I tried wearing the 990v5 for awhile. The toe box rubbed my big toe and caused ingrown toenails, and that was in the wide width! And I don't even have a very wide foot at all. I just ordered wide because I didn't want my toes to feel crowded. 990v5 is also more shallow in the toe area than the 993. The 993 seems to be made of better materials too, that will last longer -- premium suede vs. pigskin (990v5) and better, more durable outsoles that don't wear down as fast. I'm just waiting for production to get back up to speed after all the supply chain issues, and as soon as my size is back in stock I'll be grabbing a couple more of these. Thanks for the review!

I haven't read the other comments but I have had all these NBs and agree with you on everything, but the most comfortable is the 990 v1 it is way more comfortable than any of the above 👍

Great review, once you own one, you end up going down the checklist! Personally 997 is my favorite looking shoe and 990v3 was the most comfortable

i got the 990v5, 992 and 998, but my go to is honestly the 2002r it’s got insane suede and the most cushiony.
I love the 2002R. But didn’t include because it’s not part of the 99X.

Just curious what size are you in the 574? Because I’m a size 9 and in 574 my toes are like literally touching the end of the shoe but it’s not uncomfortable because they are so soft. I feel like they slip around less when I run in short dynamic movements which I like. I got the 990v5 on sale from pac sun awhile back but in 9.5. To my surprise they fit me perfectly. Now I’m wondering if maybe the 574 are actually too small and I need to wear 9.5. The 990v5 do feel kinda big but not loose. I got fitted at a running warehouse a few years back and they said in running shoes in a 9.5. Sorry for the long comment lol but I wanna know before I order the 993 👍

I run in my new balance 993's many times per week and these shoes show no wear at all. They seem to last forever like a pair of timberlands or a carhartt jacket! Love the 993

I have the exact shoes 991 20th anniv my TTS is US11 but my right pinky toe starts to hurt after a full day's wear. My 990v5 just arrived today in TTS so looking forward to trying them on. Hope this helps.

@@dbluntson5243 I wouldn't say my R is noticeably longer than my L but these are the first sneakers ever to give me this minor issue. I just wear thin socks to minimise the blistering. Like many videos suggest, the toe box is a bit small but I had no choice on half sizes in my location which is New Zealand, only full sizes.

Excellent video. I have a question…I recently bought the fresh foam 1080v11, how do those compare to the shoes in this video, mainly the 990v5, 992 and 993 ?
I know that they’re completely different shoes with different styles…The 1080 v11 has fresh foam whereas the others don’t but I want to know if it ‘s worth buying the 990 v5, 992 or 993 if I already own the 1080 v11’s.
If you're looking for max comfort, you're better off sticking to the 1080v11 because the Freshfoam is definitely much softer than Encap. The knit material of the 1080v11 is also much more comfortable as it is stretchier and will comform to your feet better. However, 1080v11 has the generic running shoe aesthetic hence if you're looking vintage shoe, then go with the 990v5 or 992

That was an excellent comparison between the 99X models. I’m new into NB with only 1 pair of 992s for a month so far. I’m considering some grey 990v5s and the Slam Jam 991…but I’m glad to know it’s optional at this point 😎

Aesthetic wise I like the 993 best, however it might just be that colorway you have. That indigo is beautiful on that silhouette, unfortunately they're all sold out of all size 8.5s and 9s on all 4 colorways of the 993 hopefully they will restock sometime in the near future🤞

The 993 is definitely the most comfortable of the 990 series for me but sadly as a result of the pandemic they have discontinued narrow widths of this shoe so my size is no longer available. I bought some 990V5's as a replacement but they just aren't the same. I might try buying some women's 993s in a size 1.5 bigger to see if those might work for me better.
Best shoe NB ever made. They better not stop production of the 993. It's the only model NB makes that I can wear!
@@sl2608 Sadly NB has discovered they can make a lot more money making "collectable" shoes that no one will ever where than making running shoes. First they took away narrow widths and I expect wide widths will be next as more and more of their production goes to specialty collector shoes.

Hi! I just got the NB 991 Anniversary as my first NB pair. I'm a true to size 10US in Nike and Adidas shoes (slightly wide feet), i got a size 10US for the 991 anniversary would that fit too small? I'm contemplating if I should've gotten a 10.5.

for me comfort wise 990v5 is comparable to the 997 (beautiful grey) the most 2 comfortable pairs I have, after that the 1500 is followed by the 999 and 998 and the last spot goes to 1300. This is just what I have at home, I would like to try 992 or 993 (since it has more cushion than 990v5) damn new balance stole my heart and feet for years, not mentioning my money too though hahaha

I wonder why you did not do them cronologicly - the cushining systems change a bit every time a new model comes out. And I think it would make to most sense to go through them in that order. 998 -> (999) -> 990v2 -> 991 -> 992 -> 993 -> (990v3 and v4) -> 990v5
But apart from that great video. And make sure to get the 990v3 when they come back later this year (but go a half size up from your 992 size) ;)

looking at the 991 Patta but not sure on sizing. I wear 9 in 990OG & 1500 but a 8.5 in 992 so I'm not sure which size to go for.
Since you wear a 9 on the 1500, go with a 9.
I will probably have to get 990 V5 because of foot insole, protection all around foot. Not happy with how stiff the shoe felt after trying on in N B store. Disappointed with lack of color choices!! This shoe selection is because of serious injury at work hit,& run while outside. Many Drs recommend N B for support the higher the number the better the show. A rep at N B today suggested 847, 1540 V3. As soon as I can get the 200.00 for 990 V 5 I can go to N B to pick up. Excited to try on 847, 1540!! Looking forward to finding a pair with great support to help my feet, toes, ankles, arches, heels!! I will not be running in these shoes except to chase ice cream man already down the street. 😁 I really want a pair of Kawaii Lenord shoes!! 🏀 Cool shoes more colors than any N B shoe. 993 seems to be discontinued now...I just picked up a few more on Ebay....the NB factory store that I go to no longer has any 993s for sale. Its all about the 990V5 now.

Most pairs will have pigskin. But they may use cowhide was well.
Which is more comfy midsole wise, 992 or 993? 993 looks more comfy since the heel area is less chunky and more smooth on transitions from heel to toe off for walking.
I also can't seem to find these indigo 993's anywhere in my size 12. I found a burgundy pair which looks REALLY good. Hopefully I can snag it up this Thursday. I also seem to not find ANY videos of the burgundy 993 on youtube
They’re both really comfortable but without having them on at the same time to compare it’s a bit hard to say which midsole is better. But I’m confident that either one will be very comfortable.

Very true. I don't have very wide feet. However, some of the Made in USA you may be able to find the wide feet fit option.
Do all the 990 v’s run the same in sizing? (Ie 990v5 vs 990v3)
I own a 990v5 and 990v1 and those are 9.5. My v2 are a size 10, but for the v2 I could probably go with a 9.5 as well for a more snug fit.
