Love how you cut up the truck instead of just pulling off the shifter assembly. Great engineering. Can't wait to see how the other truck on the crown vic front end turns out.
Just a suggestion.. Instead of spending 150 on a bench seat shifter.. You could take a piece of metal, like a 4" by 4" and drill holes and move your shifter up far enough to have it drivable. I'm sure by now you're already putting your bucket seats in but hey. Just a suggestion. Love your work man
Ashton Lawson That's the same thing I was going to suggest. I hope he reads this one. There should be something in his scrap metal pile that he could do that with. It would mean 2 more nuts and bolts, but it would be temporary. Have a good day.
super cool job it all work's esp,. w/ all the parts u wanted toooo esp,. the Z bar......... & the way long all thread bar great job finally paying off........ the go-pro show's it all w/ the lite u had under the go-pro.......
From what I've seen you have the welding and fab skills to alter that shifter to fit. Just a matter of cutting the shift lever and welding in a curved piece. On the other hand you already have the bucket seats. You could just go ahead and put the buckets in. In any case congratulations on solving the problem with the clutch linkage instead of doing the cable or hydraulic route that you didn't want.
Just a fore warning about the clutch fork, I recommend putting a return spring going from the engine cross member to the clutch fork. Because as you drive and everything breaks in. Your clutch rod may start rattling against the fork. Mine did after I finished my engine swap. just my two cents so you don't start chasing a noise around like me.
I did this same swap on my '78 GMC. Three speed on the column to the TKO floor shift. It's a great trans. I see you have a video on making a shifter, I ended up just moving mine to the center plate on the transmission.
Make an adapter bracket with a 30 degree bend in it. Just big enough to bolt to the shifter base and the linkage rod. This is a temp fix and when you go to your buckets you simply remove that bracket and bolt the shifter back to where you have it.
Once you get driving if the clutch pedal is still to heavy and short of a throw you can mobe the rod further down the shift fork away from the transmission. This will gove less throw for the clutch (or a longer pedal push to the floor) it will also make the clutch lighter in doing so. Might make it a bit easier to daily drive. Glad it worked out! Make sure to all jam nuts and locktight to the all thread!!
Hey I have a quick question I have a 68 ford f250. I have a 390 fe motor bore over 30 good power. I want to put a 3650 trans with it hold up. They sell adapter plates for it thank you like your truck man.
you could go to a weld or machine shop with the existing shiftier and tell them your problem and have them build (plasma cut) a shiftier that will go around the bench seat im sure they have a 1/4 drop plate they can use
Cant you cut a groove into the bench seat to give the shifter more room until you get the frames on the other seats and install them? I dont know if you are looking to sell the bench but it seems a quick temp fix. Awesome video. Thanks for sharing.
this is just a thought, but id recommend that you put some sort of a pedal stop in for your clutch so you dont push it too much past the end point on the pivot
I have a 1964 Ford Galaxie 500 2 door Fastback and it's a 3 spd on the column, but I'm converting in over to a C4 auto. question: what is the year range of a C4 Auto that I can use on my car just by bolting it right up to the car without a adapter plate needed?
The cone that goes against the shift Fork where the adjustment nuts are you should try to find one that's threaded it's like 77 to 79 pickups had them. I had one come apart one night and lost the end had to drive home with no clutch.
Craig, can you please share which clutch fork you're using and which throughout bearing? I am assuming the stock F100 clutch fork and the bearing from the clutch kit (maybe the foxbody type)?
I am running a crown vic crossmember and having trouble with my zbar. Can you take a pic of something from the front of your zbar, like at the mount looking towards it. My zbar is at a weird angle trying to make sure it's right. Is your pretty much level?
It seems to me that you may end up having issues or an unhappy medium in pedal travel and play with that z bar. Hydro and fabbed to your stock pedal may be your only option.
Don't buy another shifter, just get ahold of some 1/2" plate steel make it 2-3" long and bolt plate to bracket and shifter moving it forward. Put a boot cover over it and no one will notice. Once you get your buckets set-up, remove the steel plate.
why buy another shifter just heat and bend the one you have :) been there done that with a 1965 chevy 5 speed lock the handel in a vice and heat just above the bilt point itll be trial and error so bend a little at a time til its forward then you just need to go up a little higher and bend it back
My 62 has a dump truck seat in it wich has a cut out in the middle for that very thing. And you’ve probly already taken care of it anyhoo.btw; that ceiling is very cool, although being a straight up confederate I’d have a battle flag , but we’re all American right , right !
BE 4 U GET THE CLUTCH BROKE IN YOUR LEFT CALF & ALL THAT WILL BE BIGGER.....LOL WILL IT BE WORTH IT ALL..... HECK YEA FINALLY DRIVING IT ONCE U GET THE TINEY GLITCH WORKED OUT OF THE NEW SHIFTER.........LOL
Why don't you notch the center of the bench seat to clear the shifter rather than spend ~$500 for another aftermarket one that goes far away from the original place???
YES .. Can't wait to see it going down the road..
Love how you cut up the truck instead of just pulling off the shifter assembly. Great engineering. Can't wait to see how the other truck on the crown vic front end turns out.
Actually doing the same swap in an 74 f100.. this video helped me prepare for what I’m gonna have to do to install.. thanks

I was thinking about a 5 speed and I wanted to stay with the mechanical clutch linkage and you just showed me how , cool . Build On
super cool job it all work's esp,. w/ all the parts u wanted toooo esp,. the Z bar......... & the way long all thread bar great job finally paying off........ the go-pro show's it all w/ the lite u had under the go-pro.......
Nice job that looking really good Craig can't wait to see you drive it
does the threaded rod screw in to the piece that engages the shifter fork . Iam liking the 5 speed idea should go good to my cleveland
Looks great I love the bench seat though. I agree with you too thunderhead289 is a rockstar
Don't forget to add a spring so that the rod wont fall out.

Looks cool cant wait to see the difference it makes in the way it drives

Yea this was just cheaper so I just made what I had work

Awesome job. Soon on the road again with nothing but smiles per mile
Nice finally got the transmission in mater. I also watched the new floor panels video and cracked up.
Once you get driving if the clutch pedal is still to heavy and short of a throw you can mobe the rod further down the shift fork away from the transmission. Thanks for the info! I’ll most likely go hydraulic soon anyways but this will do for now with some fine adjustment!
BTW....congratulations!!! Awesome when all that hard work pays off.
Is that the floor pan out of the rat turd truck said you was going to use it. It cleaned up good.

You tossed that water bottle like a champ

Loved the last clip at the strip!!! Great job with the trans.~Pat
this is just a thought, but id recommend that you put some sort of a pedal stop in for your clutch so you dont push it too much past the end point on the pivot
5 engines later and he still owns it
I have a 1964 Ford Galaxie 500 2 door Fastback and it's a 3 spd on the column, but I'm converting in over to a C4 auto. question: what is the year range of a C4 Auto that I can use on my car just by bolting it right up to the car without a adapter plate needed?
Why not just go with a hydraulic set up?
Craig what about a pistol grip shifter??
I think the shifter can be moved rather than cut the floor. Any reason why shifter couldn’t be moved forward?
Craig how much for the bench seat once you're done with it?? My grandpa can use one for his F-250 highboy he found after 27+ years.
The Coronet Shop I think his instagram said $60 but dont quote me on that.
The cone that goes against the shift Fork where the adjustment nuts are you should try to find one that's threaded it's like 77 to 79 pickups had them. I had one come apart one night and lost the end had to drive home with no clutch.
Awesome can't wait to get my T56 in my firebird :D
You can install the shifter you have 180° from where it is now. There are 2 shift cups in there about 3-4 in apart.
Make sure you allow play before the fork engages. The throwout bearing won't live if it rides on the clutch.
do you have a part number for the bellhousing , I called American powertrain and they said they did not know the part number .
so u going to hold it in all the lower gears to drive it a bit till u have the bucket seat's in.........????
Craig, can you please share which clutch fork you're using and which throughout bearing? I am assuming the stock F100 clutch fork and the bearing from the clutch kit (maybe the foxbody type)?
MIke W stock fork and bell housing so everything mounts the same as original. Just replaced the throwout bearing with a new one from oreillys.
nice job craig its looking great
U KNOW WHAT BUD............ I'M RE-LIVING MY YOUNGER YRS,. WHILE WATCHING U ALL IN THE OLD ( MAT ER OR OR ) SORRY I 4 GOTTEN.... )....LOL
are you going to put the piece you cut out of the floor for the shifter back in? looked like you didn't need to
I am running a crown vic crossmember and having trouble with my zbar. Can you take a pic of something from the front of your zbar, like at the mount looking towards it. My zbar is at a weird angle trying to make sure it's right. Is your pretty much level?
Yea I have photos of everything. Shoot me an email @ carrnaggeclassiccars@gmail.com I’ll send them to ya
Good luck on your truck man I love your vids
I peeped those bucket seats on the ground
Now that's a true friend if u not paying him
Awesome man I knew you could do it! Lovin the series keep it up!
if im not mistaken you should be able to unbolt and rotate your shifter housing 180º..
Where did you manage to get the TKO used? Been having a heck of a time finding one used for my f100 project.
It was the only one on Craigslist at the time. That’s where I got it
Thecraig909 right on brother. Keep up the great videos. Awesome to see others in our generation still into the old stuff
Hurst shifter looks good. Too bad you couldn’t find the one with more loop in the shaft.
Nice, it’s coming together great!
hell yeah brother great job 💯
V-notch the front of the shift lever down low, bend and weld it, and you should clear that bench.
What's size from your axel shaft after that mod since trans to dif?
It seems to me that you may end up having issues or an unhappy medium in pedal travel and play with that z bar. Hydro and fabbed to your stock pedal may be your only option.
Don't buy another shifter, just get ahold of some 1/2" plate steel make it 2-3" long and bolt plate to bracket and shifter moving it forward. Put a boot cover over it and no one will notice. Once you get your buckets set-up, remove the steel plate.
Need a jam nut against that heim to keep the all thread from backing out
why buy another shifter just heat and bend the one you have :) been there done that with a 1965 chevy 5 speed
lock the handel in a vice and heat just above the bilt point itll be trial and error so bend a little at a time til its forward then you just need to go up a little higher and bend it back

Have you tried any other shift knobs ?
Did the drive shaft need changing
Get some Borla Atak mufflers you won't regret it they sound awesome!
why didnt you switch over to hydraulic clutch?
Cool stuff dude !!
Hey craig, looks sweet bro, im the dude that talked to you on instagram about being in San Diego.
can't you put the shifter in the same location backwards?
Hey you need a return spring on the clutch fork!!!
Where did you get your steering wheel??
Aviation snips are dead quiet in the still of the night ! Buy any chisels yet ?
Awsome great job
Is this the TKO?
Are you going to put the seat up for sale
Cut and weld the Hurst out further is all.
that's sweet man
I wanna build a bump side one day and put a 5 spd in it
The Clutch Linkage look like it is going to hit the Exhaust might be how you filmed at 7:10
Like the video before it even starts just bc it's a Craig Ford vid
BE 4 U GET THE CLUTCH BROKE IN YOUR LEFT CALF & ALL THAT WILL BE BIGGER.....LOL WILL IT BE WORTH IT ALL..... HECK YEA FINALLY DRIVING IT ONCE U GET THE TINEY GLITCH WORKED OUT OF THE NEW SHIFTER.........LOL
Good day Craig909 how are you dude?!
It would be awesome to see u have a pistol grip shifter
What happened to the chassis swap?
I need to finish this first so it drives
Dude, keep the bench seat!
Imagine driving with three people in the truck lol
Too freaking funny.
Yee yee brother
Yaaaay
Cool
If your getting rid of the seat any way just cut the seat 😂 and put some brown cloth on it
Why don't you notch the center of the bench seat to clear the shifter rather than spend ~$500 for another aftermarket one that goes far away from the original place???
You really can’t notch a seat without destroying it
Not first!!!
Benchseats > bucket seats.
Should have pulled the shifter and spun it 180 degrees, that would have moved it forward. Dont ask me how i know this. Lol
Just use first third and 5th!!
motecalevol then he did all of this work to have a fancy 3 speed
Yes. . .a fancy 3 speed WITHOUT REVERSE!!!!
make videos longer please
Buckets...
First ayy
