Excellent review. Very clear and precice. I purchased this tool for home use. Automotive bateries/charging, Riding lawn mower safty switches, pool pumps, old stereo/speaker repairs, house electrical wiring problems ect. I just ordered this model from Amazon and waiting for delivery tomorrow. From what I read the small temperature reading is supposed to be ambient and it could be very useful if you work in Hvac or automotive.

I feel so dumb for sending two units back as defective because I was testing them on a power cord to see if they worked :( I wished the instructions would have been more clear about how to use the clamp end for us user who know very little about how these thing work.

One thing they missed in the design is that the min max mode has no way to display ongoing readings during the capture session, only min and max. It's more useful being able to see the readings in real time and just have it be able to retrieve the min and max at the end.

Historically clamp meters were not widely used in automotive works apart from the HT probes. They have only started to become popular in the last few years as the cost of linear Hall effect transistors have reduced in cost. They are now widely used and a much better option than cutting into a circuit to make a measurement. I use clamp meter commonly for doing comparative cylinder compression tests. Best regards Chris

I wish there was an easy & non destructive way of troubleshooting lower amperage or even digital circuits as well like engine sensors and canbus.
I currently have a project car where it randomly after driving a whiile loses the whole engine communication bus. Probably a wiring issue somewhere but not too easy to find since the harnesses are not very easy to get to without dismantling everything.

@@nowthenad3286 Sorry I’m not really up to speed with current test gear. But the Kaiweets is a good meter for the money and is exceptionally value. I actually thiink the Fluke meter is good value despite the higher price point. The thing about the fluke meter is that you know it has been properly tested and if there is a problem the manufacturer will resolve the problem. These other brands have been rushed to market and usually have a few bugs, when I report the bugs, the manufacturer has no interest in fixing them. It is also about confidence. If you really need to buy a low cost meter buy the Kaiweets you will be happy, however you will never be unhappy with the fluke. Hola....

would you recommend this meter for testing mAmps like in a relative compression test for a car?
I was initially looking into a incel clamp transmitter but they run about $100 and you need a separate multimeter and have less functions.
My only concern with this multimeter if it measures up to 1000amps ac / dc or only measures high voltage.
I plan on using it mostly for domestic automotive applications like measuring fuel pump current and relative compression which I usually measure in mAmps.
or maybe one of the other multimeter models by kaiweets would be more suitable for my use?
I don't want to spend more than I need to for something I don't really need.
    Thanks.

It can definitely measure the start motor current but the idea of relative compression is that you can compare compression from one cylinder to another and it won’t do that. You need a scope and a current clamp and something to measure the timing. However I do think it would be useful for measurement of DC current in automotive applications.

@@allthegearnoidea6752 looks like the ht206D might be a better model for beginners?
It cost like $60 less and does everything the ht208D does except measure 1000amps.
Do you have a recommendation for a current clamp that can be used with a multimeter with a digital graph?
      Thanks.

Is there any limitations for inrush measurements? I got this meter recently and was very disappointed to find no values on the display while measuring inrush current. I got it replaced but still having same problem. Is threre any limitations with this feature or I'm doing it wrong.

I didn’t have any problems measuring inrush as I demonstrated on my video. Try using the settings that I used. If you want to let me know what your measuring I could try to do the same using my meter.

Thanks for your reply sir, I'm delighted to have your response. After my comment I visited Kaiweets official site to get some detailed information about this model, and I got it. I was surprised to find that it's not capable of sensing inrush current less than 10 Amps. My god! They don't bother to mention this anywhere in the manuel, and I was like it can sence any inrush quantity like a load current. All my load were below this threshold that's why the meter was lilent every time, I got it replaced for no reasons. Please do check on this as per you comfort. Thanks!

@@rmjnm I didn’t know that. You can increase the reading by putting more turns around the clamp. That could help you get above 10 Amp threshold. If you are trying to measure a very small inrush the Micsig current clamps used with an oscilloscope may be a good choice.

    Hi, thanks for the review!
Which clamp meter is better, this one from Kaiweets or the GVDA GD112C?
Does this HT208D have LPF, LowZ, DCA Zero?
    Thank you!

Sorry never heard of the meter you’re asking about so cannot advice. LowZ is explained in detail as are the other features your asking about. Thanks regards Chris

will the clamp also messure hertz ? im looking for a delicate clamp meter that will do ac dc and show me the hertz with the clamp only is there anything avalible for this thanks for the video

    • @Sentido-Critico

Fluke 376 measures hertz trough the clamp, and has a low pass filter so it works perfectly well with VFD ouput, at low amps readings as 1 amp. Icould not find any other clamp with this feature, please let me know if there is one. Uni T has a model that says so, but the specs are not clear of the hertz range, seems it beggins at 40 hz, and no one in their “customer support?” never answered me about this feature.

all chinese mfg do this, but chinese do not ask for positive review!! usa and europe do this. So review honesty fully depends on owner!!
