Having your livestock pursuing your attention is a sign of how well you treat them.
Thanks, I appreciate that.
If it ain't 95% sketchy, then it ain't sketchy.
LOL
Looks like that steer is applying for the new, Lead Steer , position
LOL He had a weak resume. LOL
Holy cow, it worked!!
LOL You had doubts? LOL
Dear Mike,
You did a stellar
Job bring that huge panel thru the gate then standing it where is needed to be🎉🎉🎉!
Great job! I voted on this😃
One thing I love about you is you’re so friendly with all you animals!! Thank you for that You really care about there well being!!!!!
Kathy
Washington State 🇺🇸👍🏻🎄🎁🎅🏼☃️❄️
Thank you, I appreciate what ya said. Thanks for watching Kathy.
Mike you show the hard work as well as the results. The animals show how well you treat them. They show how much they love you
Good job Mike ! Now rest some with something to drink.
Thanks Good idea!
Man, for being a one man job that worked out smooth with your driving of the bobcat .... I bet you looked back on that and even told yourself "hey great job!" Kudos Mike!
Nicely done Mike - I can’t believe your brilliance in using the skid steer to get the panel into the corral!! I was cheering big time when you cleared the fence!!!👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Good afternoon, Mike. It's nice to see the ground was a lot drier for your cows, not standing in water or mud. Incrediable "effort" on your part, maneuvering and setting up the Windbreak, looks really good!
Thanks Laura
If they are in Finishing School, paint the trailer like a School Bus.
LOL
Well that went well! Am sure in the coming cold days ahead the team will be thankful for that windbreak! 🤠
Hope so!
Thanks for sharing a great video and everyone have a bless weekend hugs and prayers❤❤❤
Your welcome, and thanks Wykeisha hope your weekend goes well too.
Drive some t-posts in front of it to give it some more stability.
Its pretty solid as is, but T-Posts would have been used if the windbreak was used elsewhere.
Theres a device nonelectric device called a drill doctor. Made in ashland oregon. They fix your drill bits. I watched them being produced when i lived there. Cool priduct
I think Ive seen those on infomercials.
That oil field pipe is used to drill oil wells, it is super hard high tensile steel. You could cut and drive in some longer pipe posts to support the wind break all the way up.
Mike it looks like you may have a case for harassment, that heifer was just a little too friendly, ha ha. Was the friendly heifer your free-martin? A suggestion, you could put a few posts on the inside of the pin to help keep the wind break from being pushed over from the outside wind, if that becomes an issue. Thanks for sharing, have a nice evening!
Im about ready to go see the HR dept! LOL
Good job, Mike! 🤠
Thanks Carol
Look over there at night and the cows will be watching movies on that wind break. Great job putting that up Mike.
MERRY CHRISTMAS
🛐🎅🤶🎄🦌🦌🦌❄️
Merry Christmas to you too!
Greetings from Australia. I just love what you guys do, brings me back to my childhood growing up on a very small pig farm. Whilst I did love all the pigs and piglets, as a child my true love was the cows we raised, I could never convince my Father to buy me a horse. At the largest we had a herd of 20, that was started when I was 8 and we were given an orphaned week-old bull Holsten calf, and it was my job to feed and look after him and he became my best friend for years. He grew up to be a very big boy no one ever told me to never turn my back to a bull and he never knew that he was not meant to be a Mama's boy whenever he would run to me when he saw me. Marty reminds me so much of my Ben. We end up with a mix match of different cows, Herefords, Droughtmaster, Murry Grey, Jersey X and a huge Braham Cow who always gave us twins. Living in a subtropical part of Australia we did not have the challenges that you experience but we had years and years of drought and very hot summers which brings about its on challenges to overcome. I know it is a few months away, but I always look forward to your 30 in 30.
Love your story of Big Ben. Glad you have that warm memory,
NOW THAT was a miracle!!!!!!❤😊 U are very hopefilled!!!!
Thanks
How about if you ran a fence the long way and divided the yards and shed in two . A team one side b team the other . You won’t have to build another shed and you can use the big shed you already have. Long yards the full length of the two yards still gives them the same amount of room. Trying to save you a heap of work. Tfs
Amazing, I just suggested the same thing.
That is an option I have. I havent decided which route I will be taking at the moment. Thanks for the suggestion though.
Hello Toni how are you doing today?
It’s great to watch you Mcgivier things on the farm. Another adventure completed!
The bits I like the best is Spyder. Goes through metal uprights like butter.
Hi Leslie how are you doing today 😊❤
This will make a huge difference for the steers. Thanks Mike!
I think it will too. Thanks for watching.
Hi my friend how are you doing today ❤😊
Our Wyoming Life is brought today you by the number 2, and the letter f. Finagle.
Your cows are blown away by that wind breaker. Ok, maybe not literally, but it'll make their lives much nicer. Great job!
Great job,the A team will be really happy.
It's good when you know ur equipment and what and how you need to do for it to work! 😊
Hello Carmen how are you doing today?
Hi Mike Erin & kids, great video & windbreak for the cows.Have a wonderful week end.🎄❤️🎄
Thanks Linda
Mike, is it wide enough? Unless they huddle like a football team? LoL hopefully you can add some sides soon! Oh, I get it! Werer going to play Football! Looking forward to it. Stay Warm!
Thanks for sharing our wyoming life I hope you have a great weekend
Your welcome, and same to you
Thanks our wyoming life
We have friendly cattle this year, we buy them when they are 15 months old. Was given a kiss yesterday on the cheek, surprised me!!!
Mike, that went really well for you! Thank God a gust of wind didnt come along when you had the panel balanced on the skid steer! It looks like your fences will be plenty solid to hold it. It ticked me the way the steers wanted all your attention! Just like big kids!
Mike, it seems like the 1 cow was trying to thank you. Like trying to say, we appreciate you. It seems they knew what you up to. Great job on the wind break! Have a great week, OWL! I hope we can help you with you future projects!😊
In Minnesota we used slab wood and sandwiched the fence between for a long windbreak
That would have worked here too. With the panel sitting there and not being used it was more cost effective for the time being. Thanks for watching Karen.
You have to be careful in Wyoming. I was watching a Sonne Farms and I got notice that you "breaking wind today". I wondered what in Heaven's name in going on at the ranch. 😮
LOL I make it a rule NOT to break wind on camera!
I TOTALLY ENJOYED WATCHING THE VIDEO MIKE
Glad ya enjoyed it Randy.
Yes finagle is a good word. Thanks for the video. 😊
You’re welcome
Yes: finagle. No second ‘n’. It’s interesting, as it’s history and etymology is obscure. I always thought it sounded Irish 😄.
Pretty slick operation you have there Mike!! How quickly will that small pen fill in with snow from your blowing winds? For a fine Saturday video option, how about that fine video called Erin Bakes Caramel Rolls, and Mike takes a package of the caramel rolls to the post office to be sent to Matt?? -Bob...
Mike wants to add sides and a roof so I am thinking it being on the inside makes it easier to accomplish that task. You don't know how it will work out just have to do what works best for you and go from there ❤❤😮
Happy holidays from st cloud Minnesota have a great day
Happy holidays Todd. From Gillette, WY.
Mike, why can't you split the A teams shed into 2 parts, one for the A team, the other for the B team, so they both have shelter?
Is the shed not that big?
Great video, as always. Your cows just love you.❤
What about your plumbers' metal tape - to tie it to itself through the openings in the fence
LOL It wasnt the right thing to use on the wind break.
Son! I say Son! Breaking wind is fun. It's fun.
Have ya thought about putting a fence down the middle of two corrals and cutting in a opening on other end of shed for A team? You could use your panels inside the shed to separate the sections?? Just an idea....😊
This makes three of us that have suggested the same thing
You should use the outher to sections up next to it as well
Hate to say it but I never have had any luck with Kobalt tools. Great job on the wind break and as always enjoyed watching your videos
Mike can't you use the other 2 panels that you moved to close the 2 sides in. Maybe make like a bay window shape. That would cut off the wind from 3 sides. 🤔❤️🫶❤️ NC 🇺🇸
Hey Mike, I bought 2 if the box set of "make your own adventure"(I think that is the name.) I am going to give them to my niece who has 4 young boys. They also have 7 boy cousins, and 3 girl cousins . I really hope they like them!
Hi Lydia how are you doing today 😊❤
I'm surprised you didn't use plumber strap. Probably would have worked. I'd still hammer in some t-posts in front just to make sure it didn't buckle or shift. I thought it was funny that you tried to curse yourself with the wind. The A-team will love it!
LOL Not everything will work with Plumber Strap!
@OurWyomingLife 🤣 I was thinking the holes would reduce the strength. Just funny!
🎉😂Woo Hoo! Great going Mikey! My first choice! Love the show and never miss it! Joni😊
Thanks so much Joni.
Those are pets. 😊
Every so often there are a few that are real friendly.
It was almost like you had planned, measured and knew what would fit 🤪 🤪That actually should work out very well. Good job Mike!
Stay warm and safe brother from the imperial county California and have a merry Christmas 🎄🎄🎁
Will do Francisco, and Merry Christmas to you too.
Hi Mike
Hi Barb
I hope that Stays this Winter for you Man,, Lot of Snow pushing on it...
Mike you must learn drilling metal 101. Start with a drill bit much smaller then graduate up to the larger bit or you will rapidly burn out your bits. Nothing wrong with Kobalt bits....you created the bit problem. Same applies to concrete bits!
Drill pilot holes and use cutting oil.
Wow! What impressive bobcat work!! And I love how friendly your cattle are. You’re an inspiration!
Kay from So. IL
Hi my friend how are you doing today ❤😊
@@kenhartman9981 on my way to pick up the great grandson and go to church. How are you?
Great job! You made it look easy.
Thank you.
Hello my friend how are you doing today?
Those cattle would thank you if they could!
Think they will really appreciate it when the wind really picks up Deb.
Nice job Mike.
Plenty of help for putting up the wind break. Nice having friendly animals to work with. I realize this isn't always the case. The break should help a lot for them.
Great video and job! I was holding my breath there for a minute when you were lifting that panel over the gate, just waiting for the wind to topple it! But, you got 'er done!!❤🇺🇸
Thank Monica, but you weren't the only one hold their breath! So was I. Ya never know when the wind is going to gust here. Im just glad it didnt while I had the panel up in the air! Thanks for watching.
Don't push so hard and oil your bits👍👍👍.
Question for you, Mike: with those wooden sheds and lots of hay around, what fire suppression methods do you have in place?
He loves you!
LOL I think you maybe right.
They like to fannegal a kiss from you opportunity 😂😂😂😂😂
LOL Only had to ask! LOL
u bolts could be a good alternative to drilling through the oil pipe!
You made that look easy.
I tried too.
You can go back and use Galvanized 2-Hole Pipe Hanger Straps to hold it in place.
Sorry Mike , I have to be alittle tough on ya this time.working in the cattle industry has taught me how everything has To be built for the animals saftey. By putting the panel inside the pen you have created 3 areas where they can cut themselves. On each end and across the ground. I probably would have put it on the outside. Just something to think about. Hopefully it will all work fine.
Rusty metal will dull a bit fast. If you can grind the surface rust off it won’t dull your bits
That worked out better than I thought would.
The whole project went pretty well today! Thanks for watching.
😮Dang boy..
Nicely done!🎉
Thanks
Can you put a gate inside the shed to make two sections until you can get another shelter built this coming spring
I would have used U bolts. Oh well as long as it works.
U-Bolts would have been a good option, but I used what was on hand.
But i love you Mike! Let me like your tonsil's! Your lovely breath mooves meeeeee !!!!!! lololololol!
LOL Thanks for the chuckle.
He's trying to butter you up as he knows you're a softie, maybe the butcher block will be later than sooner.
lololol Merry Christmas to all!!! @@OurWyomingLife
Enjoyed this video. Just an idea, if the area is wide enough why not put a fence thru the middle long ways divide the barn and add a door on north end so both teams can get into same shed if they need it. Just an old lady idea.
Good job Mike I'M sure the cows thank you!
LOL Thanks, they didnt say anything though!
Great job Mr. Mike! I know they will appreciate it greatly!🐂🐂🐂🐂🐂🐂🐂🐂
Thanks PitterPat.
I have not finished the video yet but i was talking to the computer screen….”strap a cattle panel on the forks then lay that windbreak on that for stability”…now it’s time for me to finish the video to see what happens………drum roll :)
Instead of bolting the barrier, why not drill the roofing sheet, insert a thick wiire and tie it to the sturdy fence posts. The wires will have a bigger hold on the roofing sheets as it will hold them to the fence posts. Just thinking out loud.
Hey Mike 👋, don't you think that driving 3-4 T-posts into the ground on the inside of the pen to secure the bottom of the panel down there would be a good idea ? Just a thought 🤔. Have a great evening 😊.
Plumbers strap around the posts vs drilling holes in the fence? Just a thought.
But she loves you. She just wants her miss. Lol
Hello Elizabeth how are you doing today?
Is that Marty or Freya. ? That's so friendly
You need to put a few screws at the bottom so if the wind gets really hard it will not blow the bottom up and the whole thing fall.
Just fyi in case you hav be to do something similar try using u bolts. Can't wait for the rest of the build for this so there is some cow comfort. Could you have divided the building and made a narrow run to one side for the A team ?? Maybe too small a building? Great work
Next time try using some U-bolts that go around the pipe. You wouldn't have to drill into that hard crap that way!
Maybe you can put a couple ost on other side too
Dont think they will be needed, but ya never know what Mother Nature will throw this way.
Hi Mike why dont you just turn the middle fence around and your barn apilt in two A team on one side and B tean on the other....keep the good work
It trying to tell you how to run your ranch . But why couldn’t you put up a temporary divider in that shed and both the A& B team in there until the worst of the weather is better
I sometimes found a dull drill bit will work a bit longer with some oil... even WD40 will work. Give it a try!
Shed looks like it needs a bit of cleaning up ?? A gate flat in the dirt / manure at ( 2:11 ) and boards in the corner of the shed probably with nails sticking up ? Only takes a moment to resolve these issues ! Rather rough on a manure spreader hauling out metal and boards !!!
Was that a bottle calf that was giving you all the attention?
Hi Christy how are you doing today?
OH The Drama ! ...
Could have saved some work by attaching it to the outside of the fence. Worked out thou!
