Officially my favorite setup on the channel! Used to see this sort of setup all the time when I was younger before boggers as similar tires got so dang expensive.
Get 6 lug 14 bolt rear axle from suburban and make damn sure that you have the expensive wheel bearing hub assembly. From experience the China bearings with 15x12 and 36x1450 tsl and 2 sets of bearing hub units lasted 15 days.
I’ve always liked the way Thornbirds look on an OBS Chevy when they’re on a reasonably sized rim, like a 15x8 or a 16x8. To each their own, but I’ve never liked the way excessively wide wheels make a truck look, especially if they’re also large diameter wheels. They seem like a great way to wear out the drivetrain prematurely & destroy the paint if it leaves the asphalt much.
Been running this tire and wheel combo since i was 16 in 23 years i have been threw lots of Swampers. Only tires i buy are Interco Superswamper Tsl/Sx radial or the Thornbird. Look's great man with the tire and wheels much better than the old nittos.
Use to have thornbirds on my 99 obs Silverado about 15 years ago, I loved them tires, they do suck mileage wise and howl like crazy on the highway. I didn’t really mind the howling or the mileage they were awesome.
Looks awesome! Dont know if anyone has told you thornbirds slip and slide bad in the rain please be careful if you do drive it in the rain, had a buddy have a set and he almost got in alot of wrecks in the rain because they slide so much. Clean build love the content man keep it up!
This video gives me some hope that there is some good in the world 😂 i grew up with this look I will always love it! I’ve had quite a few tsl’s and the thornbirds have always done me right looks amazing!!
Nothing like set of 15 inch steelys with some swampers or boggers on them😎… also if you wanted to those tires can be cut and siped for better traction, but if riding on road too the smoother topside of tire does run nice if its not tainted
Looks good for a street queen .if you plan to do any wheeling with it I hope you have plenty of front-end replacement parts. That tire and wheel combo is super heavy for gm's weak ass drive and suspension part.
If you like them great! but the consensus was that those were the worst tires that interco ever made. i have never seen a set of these worn out straight. There loud on the highway still and have poor traction off road especially in mud. I remember wanting those around the time when your chevy was brand new because they really do look awesome with those knobby side treads. i was disappointed to learn they weren't all they were cracked up to be. hope you have a different experience with them and if nothing else they look pretty bad a$$
The wheel setup is sick dude. needs those Westin chrome/black side steps to pull it together and maybe a KC light bar with the smiley face covers on the roof. Get a paint restoration or repaint on it!!!
Makes me miss my old 97 Silverado. One thing I never did but would like to see is a custom headlight job, possibly projectors but whatever preference you like on them. I think that would be a cool mod along with some tail lights and third brake light
I love 22s and 24s but man... classic Mickey Thompsons or welds on a classic truck with bogger like tires is a unbeatable look it's beautiful please keep this setup
I really think you will end up hating those tire. I had a set on my 98 Z71 and they are the worst. They ride like shit and pull you all over the road and a hydroplane bad
I’m not a hug fan of thornbirds but they are beefy! You can never go wrong with old school bullet hole wheels, especially with an obs. I bought a Raptor 700R SE two years ago, one of the best four-wheelers I have purchased.
That set up looks great on the obs. Glad you went with those them thornbirds are good tires and not sure why more people don’t run them. Keep up the good work God bless
All it needs is straight pipes or some flowmaster 10s or 40s too complete that generation look and sound i remeber my dads obs single cab leveled on 15×10 and 33s big bars in the bed and kc lights and chrome brush gaurd man that thing was sick flowmasters now i have my own im just missing the wheels... now i know what too get i might get the 15×10 -43 since im only leveled
Thornbirds ride like a cardboard box and off-road are only decent for running in sand. Its totally worth the extra money to get some boggers. Bad ass looks and excellent off-road capabilities
If you ever want a badass tire get the old school buckshot gumbo mudders but i believe you can only get em in a 16 inch and im oretty sure you can only get em in one size now wich is like a 36 10.50 or around the same size as a Q Swamper but they have even deeper treads
I didn't like the thorn birds. I like the ground hoggs and tsl better. The tb here in fl didn't work well in the red clay and the black swamp muck and I really thought they would be good on the sand. But for me not really.
How's the road noise on the black top? I have a 1996 Z-71 standard cab short bed with a set of Kanati Mud Hogs. Really great tires and quite affordable as well. They won't last forever tho and was considering a set of these thornbirds. This was a dedicated mud truck that I rescued and cleaned up pretty good. Sadly I do way more driving on pavement than I do off-road hence the road noise question. Cool video and awesome truck!
Definitely the right tires
That thing looks MEATY, might be one of the coolest OBS Yukons I've ever seen
Officially my favorite setup on the channel! Used to see this sort of setup all the time when I was younger before boggers as similar tires got so dang expensive.
That was the set up when I was in high-school. Thornbirds and bullet holes. Gotta paint that frame tho. It's Killin me 😂
Absolutely love the old school look.
NOW THATS THE KIND LOOK IT FITS THE TIME PERIOD OF THE TRUCK.
Had the same set up on my 98 3/4 ton but 16x10s and 285/75/16 gladiators. Absolutely loved the look and so did everybody else.
Get 6 lug 14 bolt rear axle from suburban and make damn sure that you have the expensive wheel bearing hub assembly. From experience the China bearings with 15x12 and 36x1450 tsl and 2 sets of bearing hub units lasted 15 days.
Looks good I mentioned axle because it evens out without spacers
By far the best wheel and tire combo on the channel to date
I remember back in the day those tires where popular. Not a good mud tire at all tho. Good sand tire
Much better than the grapplers…perfect classic look with the rims and tires
Killing it on this one! Just need the hood painted and updated headlights
Nothing but smiles when I see this setup 👏👌
That’s the best looking OBS Yukon I’ve ever seen. Those wides go so hard🤤
Glad you went with the thornbirds 🔥🔥
Most definitely the right look for Denim Absolutely love it.
A dual exhaust setup would look sick on this thing
I’ve always liked the way Thornbirds look on an OBS Chevy when they’re on a reasonably sized rim, like a 15x8 or a 16x8. To each their own, but I’ve never liked the way excessively wide wheels make a truck look, especially if they’re also large diameter wheels. They seem like a great way to wear out the drivetrain prematurely & destroy the paint if it leaves the asphalt much.
Great choice on the Thornbirds. Always loved those tires.
Love this look. Need to find a lil mud now
Been running this tire and wheel combo since i was 16 in 23 years i have been threw lots of Swampers. Only tires i buy are Interco Superswamper Tsl/Sx radial or the Thornbird. Look's great man with the tire and wheels much better than the old nittos.

Hell yeah!! I’m so glad you went with the Thornbirds! Much better, and time accurate ! Badass! It looks fücking SICK!
A single cab short bed obs would look fire on that setup too 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Yeah, those tires are definitely the better option and mounted on those m/t wheels.... perfect!
Looks awesome! Dont know if anyone has told you thornbirds slip and slide bad in the rain please be careful if you do drive it in the rain, had a buddy have a set and he almost got in alot of wrecks in the rain because they slide so much. Clean build love the content man keep it up!
The old ones didn't have siping.
Yes and yes. 15” wheels and 35” tires for the win. Great call on the Thornbirds also.
Recognized the thornbirds from thumbnail IMMEDIATELY LOL. Love those tires!
That thing is awesome! Definitely the perfect wheel and tire set up you could have went with!
That’s thing looks killer now it just needs an exhaust to go with the look cat back true dual with flow master 40s and 4” tips
This video gives me some hope that there is some good in the world 😂 i grew up with this look I will always love it! I’ve had quite a few tsl’s and the thornbirds have always done me right looks amazing!!
Best setup on the channel yet
Yup that was for sure the move! I think some welds would look amazing as well.
I remember them tire from the late 90’s. They look awesome but really did not pull that well in the mud from what I remember anyway
Memories from a lost past. You hit the mark my dude! Need some bump in the trunk and it's perfect.
On another note. I can hear the 10 bolt crying already.. 😅
Ah the good ole days, my brother ran thornbirds and I ran baja claws. The claws definitely beat the thornbirds offroad but I always loved the look.
Nothing like set of 15 inch steelys with some swampers or boggers on them😎… also if you wanted to those tires can be cut and siped for better traction, but if riding on road too the smoother topside of tire does run nice if its not tainted
Clean! Would like to see the valence off as-well as the bumper plastics with the billit grill and clears😍👌🏼
I had some Thornbirds on my 96 Tacoma back in the day and I absolutely loved them! Super mean look!!
Love thornbirds will say tho be careful when you get to 30% or less tread they like to separate and tear wheel wells up! They look and sound sick tho
Looks good for a street queen .if you plan to do any wheeling with it I hope you have plenty of front-end replacement parts. That tire and wheel combo is super heavy for gm's weak ass drive and suspension part.

Absolutely love this set up only just a little too wide for my taste but the set up as a whole is incredible!!
Keep up the amazing work!!👍
The wheel setup is sick dude. needs those Westin chrome/black side steps to pull it together and maybe a KC light bar with the smiley face covers on the roof. Get a paint restoration or repaint on it!!!
I had the exact same setup on a 2002 GMC Yukon SLT, was awesome, the tires definetly sing on the pavement, or shoild i say roar
Makes me miss my old 97 Silverado. One thing I never did but would like to see is a custom headlight job, possibly projectors but whatever preference you like on them. I think that would be a cool mod along with some tail lights and third brake light
Next mod definitely needs to be some exhaust work
The most hated Interco tire ever made. But I've always loved them! Good choice.
Best setup for sure! Can’t sell this one!
Just sold my 97 Yukon with a level and 33x14 tsl super swampers looked identical loved that truck
I love 22s and 24s but man... classic Mickey Thompsons or welds on a classic truck with bogger like tires is a unbeatable look it's beautiful please keep this setup
By far my favorite setup/ build so far on your channel , now you just need to try out a squarebody Chevy
Definitely need to put these on Larry
That set up looks great on the obs. Glad you went with those them thornbirds are good tires and not sure why more people don’t run them. Keep up the good work God bless
Your setup is insane i daily 39.5 boggers here in Florida daily.
Finally some normal sized wheels and tires that actually look good instead of the oversized pavement princess wheels and tires on everything.
Man I had that set up only 15x14 on my 92 Extracab👍🏽…memories..excellent choice..Aloha🤙🏽
That is the absolute worse riding tire I’ve ever owned, but they are absolutely sick looking!!
I love my thornbirds.. I think the og rivet style fender flares would be a nice touch on that rig.
Hell yes, it looks bad ass and fits the time period is correct for shore
looks sick brother ! Great choice. Only thing i would do is put a 1 or 2in block to lift the rear so its level
Bubba setups for life 🤘
That thing looks awesome on the old school setup
Love it makes me miss mine. I had a burgundy one on 15 x14 mickey wheels with the 35 x14. 50 thornbirds. 👍
this might be the best looking truck on the channel
Being from south Florida I love those TSL Thornbirds. I got those same rims.
Now to see if you take it up on that power line trail.
If you ever want a badass tire get the old school buckshot gumbo mudders but i believe you can only get em in a 16 inch and im oretty sure you can only get em in one size now wich is like a 36 10.50 or around the same size as a Q Swamper but they have even deeper treads
Thornbirds have always been badass tires.
Thank you for going classic on this one, looks awesome!!!
Take the Yukon to that off road trial
Awesome tires, rims look fantastic
Looks good...I think it's ready for a solid axle swap..
Those tires are absolutely awesome!!!!!!
Take the plastic bug guard thing on the front bumper off. That will make it look a lot taller it’s also really easy to
very quickly becoming my favorite truck on the channel! chomper is close second. Also, if you ever get a fourwheeler I'd be here for atv content to
I didn't like the thorn birds.
I like the ground hoggs and tsl better.
The tb here in fl didn't work well in the red clay and the black swamp muck and I really thought they would be good on the sand. But for me not really.
Nice! Never thought i would see a wide 15 on this channel! Need a road noise / how well they balanced video next
This looks superb!
Thats perfect all you missing is white full letters on the tires and a long :-) antenna
Cool video and awesome truck!
i’m ready for these to get put on every chevy you have
A color matched roll pan🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
That’s looks amazing. The stance is great 🔥
OMG!! Love the new setup! I’m an old school guy all day! 🤤😍
That set up looks good man. Keep them on there and also keep up the good videos. Love the channel man!❤️
Looks great, I'm envious!!!
Now we’re talking! I didn’t really like this truck until now👌
Love the wheels and tires. My only complaint is the u bolts. Please trim them. Everything else is perfect!
Finally some bullet holes on this channel again😍
Thornturds look cool until they hit anything more than wet gras.... TSLs, Boggers, or Mud Radials will work better for most off-road applications
How do they sound going down the road? Sick set up, love the smaller rims and thicker tires.
Should have put everbrite on the wheels before you mounted the tires. Makes taking care of polished aluminum trouble free
Looks like some thornbird super swampers lol I live in the south too nothing like those jacked up trucks and big tires
Favorite build so far
Perfect setup for that year!
