    You should title this how to launch an automatic on radials.

    If you're driving through Mexico at night and get hit up by the ese's you better have run flats, atleast.

    On slicks I hit pedal to the metal on the track no partial throttle and hook. On radials I can’t to that not even on the street you have to play with it as you say.. waterburnouts 🏁

    I still love bias slicks. When second stage3 NOS 250hp hits it doesn't blow tires away. Curves and rain is stop and the car lives another day. LOL or park and count the money you won. Slicks are also what or not, your needs are. Like your video and it's also keeping with what your comfortable with and driving habits! Thank You good Video!

    Nice video, but your car definitely is having chassis or suspension issues. You should be able to stall 2-3000rpm for launch and be fine unless it is just a untreated road surface. But if your on a treated track you should not have any trouble leaving at 2-3000rpm. Racers leave at more than that off of a trans brake and do it without problems. If you are having traction issues you may need a anti-roll bar or CalTracs. 4-links and ladder bars are also a huge traction upgrade to go with the drag radials.

    Manual guys if don’t have 2 step or line lock. Use the ebrake. Drop the e brake on the first yellow light and drop the clutch right after e brake drops

    Radials are made for hooking without pedaling the gas. You should be able to dump that gas pedal hard and hook... I run radials at the track and as long as You heat them up with a good burn out you’ll hook every time. 👍🏼🏁

    • @CarWars
      @CarWars  6 років тому +3

      Hasty Hemi it depends how much power you have and tire size, that's the bigges tire I can fit in and there not enough to dead hook, I tried many times to dump the throttle and it would light the tires up every time, even with a good burn out and good track conditions

      defiantly not true that they dead hook every time. maybe with 4-600hp

      @@patrickm.blanchard8497 That Cadillac of his has 750 HP at the wheels! you will still have to pedal the throttle with that much power. Exactly as he described in the video.

      @@CarWars your suspension is not set up correctly, period. There are 2000hp cars dead hooking radials. If you’re spinning, it’s a most likely not the tire, and you don’t make too much power for a radial.

    How to launch? That is 100% down to the setup of your car. My 73 Trans Am will launch the hardest with the pedal on the floor, trans brake on, and go. Just get your chassis dialed in. And just to clear this up. I'm beyond 1000 whp with a Whipple setup, and under 3400 lbs. so it's not due to a lack of power and torque.

    Manual here, I need to hold the RPM at around 3500 or so, just under my cam, when its time to go, I'll gas it on, then give the clutch a "hit" without letting it up entirely to get the car rolling some, once I'm rolling and if I haven't haven't "blown the tires off", I'll then floor it and release the clutch, if all goes well, I get drama free 1.6 or 1.7 60ft, not great for a 11 second car, but seems to be the best I can do right now with drag radials.

    Bias ply are bias ply and slicks are slicks. You can buy radial slicks or bias ply slicks. You did get the sidewall difference right though.

    • @joshberg8542
      @joshberg8542 6 років тому

      Slicks are a nickname for bias plys because radials have to have a tread pattern to be DOT approved which is required by most radial classes. You can get cheater slicks which are a radial construction but are outlawed by most classes because they do not have a tread pattern.

    • @kells18
      @kells18 6 років тому

      JB Sound like you got some age on you JB. That might be true for some events but not all. Especially if you do road coarse racing. I’m just say bias are bias. And radials are radials. You can get either with or with out tread. Check Hoosiers catalog.

    • @Diddy_Doodat
      @Diddy_Doodat 5 років тому

      @@joshberg8542 radials don't need to have tread! The are radial tires that aren't DOT certified, hence "slicks." There are street radial tires and strip only radial tires. What are you talking about?

    How about manual, and with drag radial it will wear down or break the drivetrain right, coz more traction and lowered pressure and prepped track.

    Stop hitting the pedal to the metal 🤭
    Drop the pressure and do a good burnout. Should be able to launch it at a good rpm. No need to "roll" the throttle.
