Absolutely but this trailer nails the themes of gears of war. It doesn't try and show you some fake gameplay to get you hyped, it doesn't throw as much bullshit on screen as it can to make it look interesting. It took a simple, effective, gritty tone to portray hopelessness. Not only down to the individual fight but the background as well, the ground is caving in and the world itself appears to be burning and dying and all you can do is make a desperate last stand. It completely and utterly knocks it out of the park. I am excited because they took the exact approach that made the original so exciting to begin with

Some new games that I would've preferred would be something like a General RAAM game, (based off his excellent comic Rise of RAAM) Gears Tactics 2 with the locust being a playable faction this time and a pendulum war trilogy set right before E-day.
They change half the writing team and executive producer. i would not be worried about that. The only fact that they are doing a prequel instead of Gears 6 show that they have brain and most importantly interest to it. You can't make a good game if you have no interest in what you're doing.

i'm kinda worried about the "modern touch on Marcus and Dom". But to be honest, to become has tough as marcus is in the original trigoly you need to go throught A LOT. So i understand why Marcus would be more "sentimental" in E-Day, and become tougher after his dad's "death"

E-Day stole the show. It's honestly tied with Indiana Jones as my big purchase for the Xbox Series (and/or PC). I even began a playthrough of Judgment and new playthrough of the first game (in its Ultimate Edition PC port, sorry) just because I'm so excited for this game. The trailer is brutal, atmospheric, and gothic; just how a Gears game should be. Funny thing is: I'm actually in the camp that really likes Gears of War 4; although it didn't bring anything to the table, I feel that the game's focus was on refined gameplay and atmospheric blue-on-red visuals. And it actually excelled in that department despite weaker writing than its three direct predecessors and Judgment. So I do feel the potential for The Coalition to make a truly fantastic Gears game is there. And because we're ditching the plot of "Kait Diaz and the Retcon of Doom" (aka. Gears 5, which even I'll admit is the weakest and only one I refuse to play) in favour of telling the story of the longest day of Marcus' life, the sky's practically the limit here. Don't worry, you can laugh at me for liking Gears 4.
Nah I think everyone is in agreement that the multi-player and horde for 4 was good. It was just the story. Sad that they ditched the roots of a mature and dark universe for a cheesy and lame story that you had to read how many books to even understand. When I played 4s story it was sad that I didn't see any of the old characters aside from Cole Baird Sam and fenix. That and with how serious a threat would be that the enemies that almost wiped out humanity coming back? They didn't do anything to alert the Cog. The multiplayer was fanatic though. Loved every bit of it.

If you watched Omaha’s. Videos or anyone’s videos on Gears 5 the evidence showed otherwise. That’s why we are getting E-Day instead of Gears 6.
