    You'd be surprised how many modelers knock mini art and dragon figures for being slightly different sizes from one another there's a review on UA-cam of someone really going to town on them about it and bec one of the mini art horses is abitty sm than a dragon hosre! But you hit the nail right on the head there about people and animal's not being all exactly the same hight and build! And nowadays with the newer more accurate kits coming out there really is a massive difference in figures now to what they used to be that's for sure! Eve the umpa lumps off willie Wonka are different sizes haha! Good shout!

      Thanks SB, now that would make an interesting dio, armed Umpa Loompas running rampage through the Wonka factory 😋😋😋

      Alcatraz252 Thank you, much appreciated, I actually found it kind of relaxing, easy to lose yourself in the process and time just flys by 👍

    Great job dood!.....
    Keep at her....
    Done plenty of mods & have been sculpting my entire life as an artist, but taking on such a task @ such a scale is a bit spooky!
    Consequently I have a STOUT appreciation for the SHEER TALENT some 1/35th commercial resin figure makers/sculptors possess...
    Next Up Halidon: 1/72nd!...;)

      Thank you, very generous of you. I still need lots more practice, and I suspect 1/35 is as small as i can go, I can hardly see what I'm doing at that scale, any smaller and I would be sculpting in braille 🤓🤓🤓

      @@HalidonDioramas I know the feeling!
      Funny how one can see the progression of ones skills & new techniques used-(Or more time spent on a piece)- over just a rather short period of time...
      Seen it so many time now with my own work, as Ive been slogging away @ a HUGE-(5X10 ft)- WW2-(Normandy)- German PanzerWerkStatCompany diorama, >begun in 2007< Been working full time on it for last 6 years or so.....
      Could have bought another NICE HOME for whats gone into it over the years!...WELL past the point of no return...HA!
      - Counted 588 resin/plastic figures the other night just on/in/around the tanks/field hospital/ect-(& that doesnt include the parts boxes full of infantry busy passing through;)-
      An American fighter pilots wet dream!...;)
      I swear Ive re-built all the models 3X's over due to personal creative progression, where the former work parceled out for the project just wont cut it anymore...;)
      Keep it up dude, as the skills learned with modeling are transferable to other artistic work! -Patience primarily!...;)
      ~Take care....

    I do hope you make a mold of this or others. Being that this your very first, one can only imagine how much better your progression is going to be.

    • @HalidonDioramas
      @HalidonDioramas  7 років тому

      HG Barnes Thanks HG, I will definitely do some molds and casting, not of this figure because he wasn't really designed with casting in mind, but I have just stocked up on silicone and resin, might have gone a bit nuts with the amount, so I will need to do a lot of casting to get through it all 😄

    Really well done Glen for a first attempt your a natural and your 100% right about never finding the figures you really want. It's liberating to free yourself from having to put up with what the manufacturers sell. My only criticism is that I'm a bit concerned with what Zorba is doing with his hand in his pocket as my mates and I would have slated him right off for playing pocket billiards but then that's the real benefit of being able to leave or change things as you please. 😆👍👍👍

    • @HalidonDioramas
      @HalidonDioramas  7 років тому

      Clive Cro Thanks very much Clive, very perceptive of you about Zorba (lol, good name) technically his left arm is longer by about 3 inches (full scale) which does give him easier access to the plumbs 🍒🍒🍒

      I am pissing myself laughing here Glen I haven't laughed like this since I last played pocket billiards myself 👌😂 Zorba looks great he's probably looking for his🍌too. You should make him a kebab shop I'm sure he'd really appreciate that. 😂😂😂

    Well done on pushing your skills even higher, the figure looks superb . I do not have the temerity or the patience to even think about sculpting did I mention laziness. So well done for knocking the learning curve way out of the park and ending up with a figure that looks really fantastic. It is startling to think that you can produce such high quality work on your 1st attempt chapeau. I am stuck on world war one fighters (aka rigging nightmares) Still trying to finish something . Of course it might help if I stop hurling them at the wall in frustration. patience mon brave patience !

      splod44 Thanks Splod in not sure about temerity and patience but I am an absolute master at laziness 😄. I love WW1 fighters but I know I couldn't do the rigging it would end up in a mess of glue, fingers and string 😜😜😜

    Brilliant job mate! It's so difficult to work with such a small scale; and you have accomplished it with flying colours! I'd love to try one day that size and the materials you have used; I'm not very happy or comfortable with my Milliput stuff

      Felis Barcinonensis Thanks Felis, very much appreciated, especially since you are the inspiration for me giving it a go in the first place😄. I think hands and faces will be hugely challenging but I'm not putting myself under the pump about that, I'm happy using Hornet heads until I get more exietiebce👍👍👍

    Damn! I didn't even know there were schools in Australia!!! Learn something new everyday! LOL! I wanted to watch it yesterday but then I wasn't prepared to get humiliated by you again. Today is a terrible day anyway, so it doesn't matter if I get shinned or kneed. I agree on your point on the uniform height of figures, but if you put a 54mm figure (1/32) next to 1/35 figure you immediantely get the impression that there's something wrong. Maybe that's only because we're used to see things that way. Anyway, I can't imagine that I'll ever try to sculpt a figure, not even if I used a Hornet head, some hands and boots. Intimidating to say the least! I really don't want to be responsible for making you need a bigger hat, but this is great. Period.

      Non-Prolific 1/35th Scale Model Builder Ha Ha, yes we do but they tend to focus on sport, utes, drinking and roo shooting 😜. Very kind words Jens, and let's not get into comparing, you kick my butt every day on scratch building mate 👍👍👍

      LOL! Interesting subjects in Australian schools! I really mean it, Glen. You're one of three fellow modelers I know who sculpt their own figures. That alone is incredible, but you and one of the other two do it in 1/35 and I just reviewed two wonderful sets. So I can tell if you did a great job or not. I must stop thinking about this, because if I ever started sculpting I had to change my channel's name into something like "At A Snail's Speed Working 1/35th Scale Model Builder". Wait! I AM already modeling at that "speed"!. What's slower than a snail??? :)

    Excellent mate. I have never tried anything like this (never had the need to so far to be honest) but although this isn't a tutorial, having this as a guide would be helpful if I ever did try it. I had a thought, for something thinner than a needle point, what about an old 0.2mm airbrush needle? That might give you an even finer point.

    • @HalidonDioramas
      @HalidonDioramas  7 років тому

      GT Scale Modelling Thanks GT, when I do the next one it will be better planned and I will try do do it more like a tutorial, although I feel that's a bit presumptuous of me given it will only be my second go, perhaps just a clearer showing of what I do might be a better description. Great tip using an airbrush needle, I will definitely give that a try on the next one. Cheers 👍👍👍

    • @SouthPark333Gaming
      @SouthPark333Gaming 6 років тому

      Also, I love the thing you say about size! It has always annoyed me that all figures are the same size. So I always used different companies together, and sometimes I would even use 1:35 scale and some of the old multiples airfix 1:32 scale figures together.

    • @HalidonDioramas
      @HalidonDioramas  6 років тому +1

      Thanks, I am not sure that i am qualified to give any advice really, I am just learning myself as i go along. I guess the most valuable thing i have learnt is be patient, do small areas and let them cure, try to do to much all at once and you can end up messing up a lot of what you have done along the way as it is not set. Good luck with your sculpting :)

    Great work Glen.I Use Milliput White superfine for the detailed type stuff it is easy to work with and can even be used upside down. LoL Awesome result tho Glen How long in total did it take? Love his little dance near the end :-) J

    • @HalidonDioramas
      @HalidonDioramas  7 років тому

      John Moore's Scale Model's Thanks John, I will give the superfine milliput a try, everything's upside down from here anyway 😜. Total actual sculpting time was probably 4 two hour sessions, I don't really keep track but I doubt it was more than 8 hours total. But I learnt a lot doing this and think the next one which will be better planned will be quicker to get done. 👍
