Best space RPG I’ve ever played the problem is that it was too damn short I wanted more! I’d like to see a prequel and a sequel. My theory is aliens or possibly the corporations got too big and powerful and destroyed Earth or something happened towards the end of the game.
It took me 20 hours to get through and its replayability is pretty high. I feel like 20 hours is pretty standard for a story driven game. I am about to play through a second time on hard and then I will do super nova. I am just going to do the main story missions those times so we will see how long those plays take.
I think the DLC is bigger than the actual game if you want more.
You missed a few points. Most important of which being that the crew of the Hope realize that the colonists because inedible because they turned to goo after a while.

That is correct, Phineas Welles mentioned it at the start that he needed some special chemical solution so he could revive the colonists (your player in the game).
As you piece together this narrative exploring the Hope, I have to say it's very...sobering.
The theory on what happened to the crew, assuming the cannibals survived and kept eating the colonist... eventually explosive cell death will ruin the remaining 'food'... leaving only each other.
I honestly wish they would make some prequel DLC where you get to live the events of what happened on the ship.
That would be some nice filler content while we wait for OW 2
I wonder if we'll get that in OW 2, i read somewhere its not based in halcyon but idk how legit that is so take it with a grain of salt.
Im more interested in what happened to Earth. My theory is that a rogue black hole entered the system. It is also my theory on how the Hope's Skip drive was damaged.

Well it wasn't destroyed, becasuse someone was sending messages to halcyon. And took the time to encrypt them.
@@alyctro8158 In game they stated that Halcyon had stopped receiving messages from Earth 3 years ago, essentially went "Dark". Several ships were dispatched to investigate and vanished.
@@MichaelMiller-bs3tz But given the HHC's reputation, they could've faked the whole thing. Distanced them selves, and cut the communication. Someone must've tried going around that and sent those blank messages because only a certain someone would understand them, and decrypt them. HHC keeps lying to the people, and they are evil.

I am still on my first playthrough, had it about a week and have been slowly making my way through the quests and side quests a few hours each day. I am about level 20 now I think.
I have been to meet Phileas in his secret lab and had the chance to talk to him myself, but also to snitch on him and his location but I didn't. I feel like his work, research and end goal is for the good of the Hope and the Colony of people still surviving there, and hope things go well in the end!
Your story has given me some new insights into the way I feel about Phineas and the board. I can't wait to see how it all plays out, and to start my next play-through to maybe do things differently.

Is this...'fan fic' or based on some research into..whatever source materiel there may be? There's a few Elder Scrolls books but I'm just curious. Also, am I the only one who's noticed an almost complete absence of merch & shwag? Where's all the Outer Worlds T-shirts, hoodies, hats, jackets, bags, coffee mugs, key-chains, blankets, lunch boxes, condoms, coffins, not-so-limited Limited Edition lithographs, concept art books and other assorted sundry?
This is entirely comprised of in-game logs found on terminals across the game.
It's sad but basically everyone forgot that this game exists a year after it's release, the official twitter account gets around 20 likes per post and the subreddit is pretty much dead

@@Mizra-dq3lj Give it time. Communities for games as good as these need time to fester. New Vegas was a sleeper until years after its release yet look at it now. Eventually, in the coming years, the community will grow and grow as people talk about this game across the Internet.
The intresting thing is fallout 4 was set in the 2200s at the point of the fallout so maybe that's what happened to earth.

I bought this game just about a year ago, and I've really enjoyed it. I've played it through 4 times already - got nearly 300 hours in it.
SPOILER ALERT!!!
I always try and be good, and help Phineas. But.. I've always thought his plan was bloody stupid. He should be researching nutrition, and new ways to feed the colony, not how to add more hungry mouths - he should be working with Adelaide McDevitt and Eva Chartrand. His idea that there are brainier people on the Hope who will save the colony is just wishful thinking.
No matter how many time I play the game, I can't make sense of the plan I'm helping to carry out. But it's such a fun game, I don't care.
Theoretically there are better Researchers on the hope. They are "the best and brightest of their generation". Given the results he likely didn't wake the best first given what was happening. Remember you were a no one, little more than an intern on the ship. the thing that makes no sense to me is who sends a colony ship with that many people without also sending a few months of food for them with it. There should have been hundreds of thousands of tons of grain or other dried/canned food in the hold. The atmosphere or water was more likely to go bad before food became an issue which means they would need something that converted CO2 to O2 the most cost efficient would be plants which also could subsidize the waste processing and food stores the ships back story doesn't make sense.
4 years later. This game still beat Starfields... Now imagine they have the budget of Starfield..
