If you're a private pilot, you can rent planes at the local flying club at FAAA Airport! You're required to pass a flight test, upon which you are issued a temporary license to fly there for a period of time. When I first did this in the early 90s, they let me take a plane solo! Since then, I was required to have a club instructor in the right seat. It is the most beautiful aerial scenery in the world! I flew all over Moorea.... so much fun! I recall it cost about triple what I was paying in San Diego per hour. Totally worth it!
Good to know about this option - what's the club insurance like? Or is there coverage at all? Do they recognize the new BasicMed or does one need the legacy class 3 medical certificate?
