In 1997 I was invited to sit in the cockpit jump seat for this exact takeoff experience on Minerve Airlines! It was an incredible experience! As a private pilot, I was able to rent aircraft from the flying club at FAAA Airport and fly over to Moorea! It's the most incredible scenery in the world!

If you're a private pilot, you can rent planes at the local flying club at FAAA Airport! You're required to pass a flight test, upon which you are issued a temporary license to fly there for a period of time. When I first did this in the early 90s, they let me take a plane solo! Since then, I was required to have a club instructor in the right seat. It is the most beautiful aerial scenery in the world! I flew all over Moorea.... so much fun! I recall it cost about triple what I was paying in San Diego per hour. Totally worth it!
