That cameras dying was absolutely hilarious with that entire speech about saving storage and HDD’s! 🤣🤣🤣 That’s a special guitar - first Solar is epic! I hope that stays in your family forever. It is part of Solar history . . . and YOUR history! Thanks for the background on this amazing guitar that launched an entire brand!
I love the back story of Solar guitars. I’m a big nerd for business history, and hearing you and Louise rented a Condo upstairs to receive the first shipment is the kind of hustle I love. I worked for this guy who owned a hookah lounge and he told me the first year he had no furniture because his living room was filled with inventory. He even made a couch out of boxes of coal 😂 Hell yeah dude 💪 thanks for sharing!!
The part about buildi g a brand was helpful to hear. I'm currently building the first six guitars of my upcoming instrument brand. It's a _lot_ of tasks, competencies, and priorities to juggle. I'm having fun with it. These will be the last guitars I ever build by hand. I can't wait to get a CNC machine going, and then who knows, maybe somewhere down the line I will be able offshore some work, too.
You mean locking tuners? I've never had a problem so far, and have had 5 guitars now with locking tuners. I love them, more for ease of changing strings than anything else. I used to think locking tuners helped tuning stability. I guess it might, but I've never known that to be true for myself, unless the tuners are loose, etc. The most important part for tuning stability is not having binding in the nut. In my experience
On the note of filming in 4k, you’ve always been one of the most polished and high quality creators. Not just the content, but even the watching quality when you made amp demos back in the OG days. Nobody else did that. We really appreciate it!
Love to see this guitar :) Remembering how fun it was to design the pre-solar guitars with you and the logo... I did not have a clue it would become so big, i'm so glad for you , Louise, and Greg (and the rest of the family :) ). On a side note, i'd like to say the Solar team is probably the best team i've been working with over the years... congrats to you all guys.
i bought my first solar E1.6ET a long long time ago, it came with nickel frets and no locking tuners unlike today and it still plays and feels great, stood through the test of time.
7 years already wow It seems like yesterday Solar dropped. Was lucky enough to get some of the first production models . I still have them and they are killer guitars . Still wanting a gloss Olympic white and gloss black E and X type. 😃
Great video dude. I like this series a lot. Great way to tell the stories behind your collection and give them some love in the process. I appreciate the content. Good stuff. Much Love ❤
Still looks good, that guitar!! 😜👍 So this one's already 7,5 years old actually.... You've come a long way, Ola! And doing very well indeed - keep it up! 😎🤘
Love it. I put EMGs in my first Solar as well. I am an active pickup player though. I like the compression and brightness it adds. I don't think about 'finger tone' much so it doesn't bother me personally.
Personally, I know that I will never ever ever get "sick of" Solar Guitars. Never before in my life have I played finer instruments. ✨️ (And yes, I have played a 1967 Gibson Les Paul valued at nearly $5,000)
Absolutely agree that set-thru and bolt-on guitars sound better. They're more snappy, brighter, sound better for super clean processed guitar sounds and, I prefer rosewood fretboards over ebony for the same reasons. Don't get me wrong, I own a lot of guitars that are neck-thru with ebony fretboards - including ESP Custom Shop pieces that were made for me, but when I'm going for the tones I love, I usually end up grabbing my late 90s ESP Horizon with a bolt-on neck and roasewood fretboard.
I love that "My Guitar - Series" !!! We want more of these !! (... but I don't understand 9,5 to 48 for Drop C ..????!!! I feel 10 to 52 for D Standard way too flubby (or floppy) on my 25.5 scale guitars, like a Jackson Kelly for example !!!)
I will never get sick of you hyping your own company dude. Been a member and devoted Solar customer for years because I believe you truly have the customers best interests in mind. Keep it up man!
Ola, thank you! It’s a blast to watch your videos! I thought the best way to support your work is to buy one of your guitars, that’s what I just did. \m/,
With the original non-X EMGs you can try the 18 or 24 volt mod to fix the headroom limitations that you see on those DI tracks which hard clip at 9 volts. Still not the same as passive but it's worth trying if you haven't already, or use an 81X. I've been following you for over 10 years now and know you're an SD guy though of course
Cool report 👍🏼 I have also still the EMG 81 in my first ESP Custom from 1989 sounding & working perfect 😉And of corsé for me also exist only the black colour , but in all kind of things , from my guitar to my van etc 😁 Cheers Hey by the way where is🌪 Pix ? seeing a video from you now without her is to me like having a sunday without Ola Cheers
I have nr 47 of 49(?) of this series, the A1.6 BOP Ltd. Artist, with only the volume knob. It´s still my workhorse and my "best feeling" Solar, and I have 10 other Solars to compare it to :D. Still my favorite!
Now THAT'S a collector's item. Interesting, your opinion of Neck Through, Set Neck, and Bolty. I'll go to my local shop and test this theory. You know, a Fender is a bolt on, and that's a bright (rather than darker) tone. Always thought it was the pickups that provided the dark/light tone. Makes sense 100% that the construction would play a roll as well. Learning shit with Ola. Thanks fer the edge uh muh kay shin.
Living on the edge like Jon Bon Jovi…of Aerosmith. HA I still have my ATG baritone - I think it was 2017…and it still plays and sounds amazing. Had to put some 3M clear film around the bridge pu as it starred getting shiny there from rubbing my greasy nacho fingers on it. Anyhow, just wanted to say thanks for a great guitar. It’s not often I leave anything stock but it was perfect right out of the box.
I have an A2.6 i believe from 2017 or 2018. So simple and I think i paid $600. It is probably my favorite guitar and that blows my mind because i love several of my other guitars one of which Ive had as far back as 2009. As curious as I am about other brands, its hard to risk it when my solar is so kick ass. Hell I love mine so much I sometimes wonder if it were a fluke. Like if i get more solars or even higher end solars, will they be as good? Man even the solar duncan pickups are sick. I think they've even become my favorite ones that I have and Ive got a variety. Got to admit my solar was the best and most versatile guitar purchase in my 34 years. I'll never sell it. I wanted the pink alexi laiho model since 08 and finally got one in 2022ish. Its tough to admit but I think I appreciate my solar more. I definitely play it more❤🤘
> No other colors than black Proceeds to launch, as one of a few brands, some of the coolest colors ever, including pink (on my wishlist), neon lemon (looks incredible live), neon green (bass with black strings
Nice ! Put back the Duncan Solar pickup and reconnect the neck one. This guitar deserves it. I neither do like the emgs (even though the Black Album is still my dream production sound)
my next guitar is going to be one of your B stocks, because I'm fairly "economically challaged" but I also can't enjoy any object to its fullest if it's pristine and I'm always very careful to keep it that way. the first dent is like a spiritual initiation 😊 baptism by scrapes and dents
What a cool video. Super stoked for your success, man. You worked your ass off, and you're a genuinely good human being. Proud to have been with you from the living room amp demo days \m/-_-\m/
Always liked the look of reverse headstock. Because of mick Thompson Ibanez. But couldn’t get past the tuners turning the opposite way. And the low string resonance and tuning stability issues. I’ve only tried a Jackson x series and schecter reaper though. Not a good experience
Hey ola. Im from south africa. My guitarist bought this solar when it launched back then. It was imported through thomman. I swear it was earlier than 2017? Couldve sworn it was in 2016.
I do that a fair bit with EMGs. Leave the passive neck pick up not connected. However, the other day I though I would wire the passive up to the EMG buss. I heard it wasn't suppose to work as the pots are 25K instead of 500. Yet....it works.
I think now I realized why I never really liked the EMG 81 that much. My finger tone has always been very important to me, so maybe that's why I always stuck with passives. even with Fishmans I could definitely feel my finger tone more than with an EMG
Buy a NAS for your storage woes... they arent cheap but if you're buying endless hard drives, a NAS will make it easier. also, a NAS makes you cool to IT nerds
Always loved the 'My Guitar' series & that was extra cool learning more about the history of Solar.
me 2
never thought I'd here ola the swede say tired of chugs
I realized yesterday when sitting down to practice I instinctively clap my hands once before playing because of you and your videos.
Never seen Ola get as emotional at the end their, it's not easy to build a company from scratch and have it going for 7 years now. Congrats Ola!
Ola saying, "I'm sick and tired of playing chugs" was not on my bingo card today or ever.
That cameras dying was absolutely hilarious with that entire speech about saving storage and HDD’s! 🤣🤣🤣

I'm having fun with it.
These will be the last guitars I ever build by hand. I can't wait to get a CNC machine going, and then who knows, maybe somewhere down the line I will be able offshore some work, too.
The problem with self-locking tuners is sometimes they won't self-unlock.
You mean locking tuners? I've never had a problem so far, and have had 5 guitars now with locking tuners. I love them, more for ease of changing strings than anything else. I used to think locking tuners helped tuning stability. What an awesome surprise to wake to! Thank you Ola!!

My fourth Solar is supposed to be here today,it will be my first evertune I’m so excited!🤘
Evertune is GREAT. There is no going back.
@@kauko8124 yes but then you cant make funny weird noises :(
@@pipocadocs5994 That's why you need at least two guitars. :D

Love the My Guitar series

I’m sold as soon as I can I will own every model I promise. I’m a huge fan of the channel love the content.🤘🏼
This is my favorite series outside of the festival vlogs. Loved learning about your Dimebag guitars
still need to get one of these
i bought my first solar E1.6ET a long long time ago, it came with nickel frets and no locking tuners unlike today and it still plays and feels great, stood through the test of time.
the evertune keeping the 46 low e in check.
EMG 81 just scratches that itch man…
Love Solar guitars man, some of the best and most affordable guitars for what they have in them.
I love my neck though LTD Arrow, I dont often go that high but its just so smooth to get those upper frets.
7 years already wow It seems like yesterday Solar dropped. Was lucky enough to get some of the first production models . I still have them and they are killer guitars . Still wanting a gloss Olympic white and gloss black E and X type. 😃

I love this series. This Solar is just a pure beauty. I'm a sucker for just 1 knob... Who needs a tone knob?
Another great My Guitar episode :) and great to hear the story of how it came to be for Solar Guitars!
Solar history lesson was cool, it would be cool to see how a guitar is taken from concept to production.
Still looks good, that guitar!! 😜👍

Yes ola, always thought you sounded better with emg 81,
Being from Louisiana, super excited about the kirk Windstein model. We are going to see Crowbar 11/29. I am saving up for green explorer trype one.

One way to work around the Dark Tone of a neck through is to remove the tone knob since it filters out high end.
Please do a video of your Ibanez RGA8 with Blackouts 🤘🤘🤘
Why does that emg sound so good clean!!
It’s a high output bridge humbucker 😂 it has no business sounding that good clean haha
Good day, Ola.
