- Australian Army Tips for Crushing Kapooka in 2020 & Goodbye to 31 Platoon who start their military careers tomorrow making 2020 the most memorable year of their lives and leaving creature comforts behind to enlist in the best small army in the world.
Kapooka is long nearly 100 days without a break but you are not alone and within this video are tips and tricks to just get through recruit/ basic training but to thrive and enjoy the new mates that will all be soldiers and on the same journey if not the same end point.
As we come out of Winter 31 Platoon will be the next batch of young men and women to step forward so lets wish these volunteers well and if they are going to make a mistake then only let it happen once.
You start basic training to become a Australian all CORP's soldier before going to your specialisation Initial Employment Training Muster and you reputation starts with 100 points so be a great team mate and do anything you can to assist in morale for your mates and we shall see you on the other side now go and enjoy your last meal and fun beneath the covers plus don't forget your pets they won't understand where you have gone.
Take it easy 31 Platoon or should I say "Hallway 31"
#australianarmy #inthetrenchesdwithcas #bestsmallarmyintheworld
A tip from personal experience. Try not to sleep talk. Stay awake if necessary lol. One guy called out hallway 5 in his sleep and had the whole platoon echo it back (the echo system which you will love) at 3am. We stood in the hallway for an hour with bottom sheet over our shoulders for no good reason till our section commander rocked up in his pj's and told us we're fucked in the head and we should go back to bed.
Mate had a soldier of mine no one could tell him used to cry out "No Dad" in his sleep very dark hey and very sad.
@@inthetrencheswithcas1762that sounds heart breaking, abuse?
I went through with 31 platoon in early 2010 and I'm still going.
Good luck to all!
Just think of it as like playing a game you don't know the rules to.
Every phase of your career will get better and more rewarding and tomorrow is where it starts!
Right on great positivity and happy to hear nate
This is Brendan's wife (Rachael), Im so proud of my husband for watching your channel religiously in the lead up to yesterday/today. myself and the kids are so proud (whilst also really upset and missing daddy) of him and cant wait to see what he accomplishes while at Kapooka :)
Hey Rachael, great to see such a supporting family I am proud of you back my dear, your all in for an adventure and i am here to answer any questions you may ever have to get you more transparency on where your life is taking you etc.
Duty First/ Family First Love and Respect form Cas and my family too..
Hehehe l remember there was four in a room in Kapooka and one night one of our comrade said Greg,Tony,Bill are you awake and then his bed started to vibrate,we all had a crack at him the following day,l reckon he would not have blisters on his hand these days.
Greg Palmer that’s bloody funny I’m cracking up replying to you lol
Thank you so much for all the encouragement you have provided for my son. He is off next Tuesday and you have been an inspiration to him.
God Bless you!
Pam let’s remind your young Lion he is enlisting in the month of ANZAC so no quitting and trust the process it’s just a game show and he starts with 100 points and only he can lose them..
Sense of humour is key..
Proud of him in advance and thank you my dear
All the best 31 & Ethan. Onya Diamond Bravo.
Addie great support as always mate thanks for what you do mate you soon enough
Looking exceptionally handsome in this vid Mr Caswell 🥰 the editing is awesome, those transitions 😍 I’m going to miss everyone who’s going but I’m so excited and proud of them ❤️💪

Yes every time a platoon leaves some of our personalities leave for greener pastures but like a mother bird we want to see everyone fly
Hi Cas. I am Sas. I got recommendation in the Royal Australian Army Ordnance Corps as Warehouse Coordinator. Kapooka will happen soon for me. My PFA is delayed for a bit because of Shin splints I have. I am motivated and I have overcome the issue but still got to get Sports doctors clearance. Your videos motivate me a lot. I can't wait for the day I go in Kapooka.
Saswat Das welcome to the RAAOC Rangers.
Great video as always Cas. I’m headed off to Newcastle tomorrow (31st) to leave for the hotel. I’m pretty nervous at the moment but I’m keen to give everything a go and meet some good people there. Cheers mate 👍
Yoo who's jumping in the Army next yearrr
Me bro I'm going to kapooka very soon and I'm going to become a artillery operator
@@deepfriedtomato6065 me too

going in as infantry soldier as soon as I get fit enough.
I leave for Kapooka on the 19th of October and this video was of great help for me. I've heard lots and lots of stories but none of them have helped me until now. So thank you Cas
How'd ya go
I liked kapooka. 41 echo company 2010 or better known as getto company. We did our training in de-mountable buildings. I only joined chocs and served 8 years and enjoyed most of it. Fitness was key at kapooka for me. A lot of people struggled. One girl at the range tried to fire but kept getting stoppages. It turns out she left the cleaning rod in the barrel :) Lots of memories mostly from people fcking up.
Ghetto Company love it yep fitness is a key ingredient.... Fucking up is just the gravy on top lol
Leaving on the 3rd of may couldn’t be more excited Caz help me through the whole process

One of the most important things to remember...is to do complete every task given to you immediately...if you procrastinate the work will back and, you will get behind and never catch up

would you recommend a 47 join the army reserves (re-enlist) I was in back in 1992-2000.
Because I’m 14 and I want to join when i graduate
Connor McIntosh now is time to treat school like a mission mate great job
In The Trenches With Cas. Will do cheers mate
I'm jumping in the army next year when I'm 17
Great Name lol
Take your time do it right and we’ll get you there.
Rushing can ruin your chances so slow down and win support by those who love you by training, doing well at school and learning from the channel ..
Yeah I agree with Cas on this one. I enlisted when I was 17 in 96. I was pretty fit from playing footy and running track, until I hit basic. It was a new definition for physical fitness. Sometimes you want to quit but keep your chin up and marching out will be waiting.
Going to the army on the 27th of october
Good work mate your on the list enjoy your last month as a normal dude and don't stuff up between now and then..
my partner is going into the army (Infantry solider) on the 27th of October! he needs to quarantine for 2 weeks before that though cause he's coming from vic. You guys might bump into each other!
Kara Chapman it’s very likely considering I’m going infantry as well
In The Trenches With Cas Ofc not ;)
Good luck 31 platoon👍
SoS right on mate some great friendships about to be made
Looking forward to enlistment on the 8th of September
Rob great news so close mate what are you going in as matey
@@inthetrencheswithcas1762 Thanks Cas! I'm off to infantry!
Cas, great video! Thanks a lot for the tips. I'm actually at the mantra right now awaiting departure to kapooka tomorrow. Any tips for me as I'm going in as an MP. Any advise for 1RTB or something to assist with the role. Cheers.
Anyone here born after 1986 you need to get your citizenship done or have a passport I found out no one born here is a citizen unless they do the test or have parents born here before 1986 them I have to wait 3 weeks just to become a citizen but I'm keeping my head up training hard and not slowing down for anything
Ryan Nightingale first I’ve ever heard of this mate hope it works out for you let me know
@@inthetrencheswithcas1762 will let you know thank you for the reply
Ryan Nightingale here to help mate you could be a future VC winner
Hey Cas i have a question.
I am currently enlisting in the ADF gap year program as an infantry solider. I will be sent to kapooka in January or Febuary. I have passed all the tests and sessions and just finished up doing the blood check. However, i plan on doing the 4 year contract anyway, i know the army is for me, i am incredible excited and just biting at the bit to go. In your opinion mate, is there much point in me doing the gap year program THEN going the 4 year contract or would there be some reasons for me to choose the 4 year contract from the get go?
I would love to hear your thoughts mate.
Bug yes mate because you may slide straight over to full commitment at Kapooka etc hey Kapooka is the same for GAP year
Epic thumbnail by the way it’s freaky
@@inthetrencheswithcas1762 Thanks for the response Cas. Keep it up mate
@@bug4561 how was the gap year mate I applied for it just seeing what could i expect cheers mate

hey Caz I have a question I'm getting going to my enlistment ceremony Tomorrow night and then quarantining in Sydney for 2 weeks because I'm from Victoria, so my training will start on the 14th of September, do you know what platoon I will be put in?
Is finger-snapping a big thing in the Australian Army?
How long does the Australian Army take to teach to snap fingers?
Lol totally confused on this one man ...
Finger-snapping definitely not made up. What is the point?
👍👍
GR1D there you are did you have KFC lol
I had a big plate of silverside 👍
Cas, what the hell is an administration bag? didnt have tht in the 90's
Yes you did mate I am referring to the civilian bag that got taken from you the day you turned up to kapooka that contained all the stuff like civies that you went on to wear at the Canberra War memorial etc or to the Vic hotel after march out.
Great video Cas, well done mate and love the Donald Trump pen at the beginning🇦🇺
P K ahh yes these are there for those that care my man AK must be stoked at the moment hey
In The Trenches With Cas Hi Cas yes mate AK is pretty pumped, arrives at Singleton today. Thanks so much again Cas for all your help along his journey with The Australian Army, what you share with everyone through your streams makes them all so very much better prepared for their new lives. 👍🇦🇺
What is this point system i hear about?
timothy neuendorf mate it comes down to every person is unknown when they enlist and it’s only what you do next that determines your reputation and ability to work with others that can lower perception so it’s less earning respect and more keeping it so 100 points is the honour system ..
Don't stash a jelly donut in your foot locker , you don't want to be that guy . I saw a movie once where a guy did that and got caught by the sergeant and it didn't end well , trust me .
Hey Cas, here to ask about my enlistment as infantry soldier into the adf. I currently have this down as the only role on my application as there is nothing else of interest to me after looking through everything and having unlocked everything on my aptitude test. I’m curious to ask if having 1 preference is going to poorly impact me as I’m constantly asked by case managers whether I’d like to add another preference/preferences. Thanks Cas! PS I’m only 16 and a half and applied as soon as I turned 16 and a half as I’m incredibly eager to serve and ultimately join the SASR or Commando regiment.
Auzzie hey mate I hear you I’d say put down Cav as well then you have 2..
Mate if you chose only one and there are no positions available then you don’t get in at all..
If they ask for three give them 2 if they ask for three again then give them three
when you say Cav are you referring to cavalry?
@@inthetrencheswithcas1762 Hey Cas, is this true if you don't put down more than 1 preference, and say you get in but the job position is all full you don't get it? I would have assumed you just wait until a position is available? can you elaborate on this? Thanks!
Applying for only 1 position isn't too bad just make sure you've done a lot more research on the chosen role and show how eager you are in your interview's during your assessment session. I was the same as well, I only put down Infantry and passed all my interviews.
14th September infantry cheers caz mate 🤟🏾
See you there mate only a few days keen as Fuck.
Do you get to keep your army camo uniform at the end of kapooka?
You should have four of them and the answer is yes not sure about Army Reserve but I believe they do to, are you thinking of enlisting?
@@inthetrencheswithcas1762 I'm 16 right now and I'm just looking to pass year 10 to go in, that's my goal. I want to go in at the very start of January, I believe you have to be 16 and a half to do a trade.
Anybody enlisting 26th January
Sam what are you going in as make sure you stay with the channel to drip feed you knowledge..
In The Trenches With Cas going in as infantry mate, yeah I plan on it you’ve been a huge help throughout the whole process. 👍
How much drill is involved as an infantry soldier?
can some one please help me with 1 simple question i have about sign up????
Brent Smith ask then
@@inthetrencheswithcas1762 unfortunately i was silly enough to have my licence suspended. so im worried that if i was to attempt signing up that my driving record would be a reason i could not join.
thanks for your time.
I don’t think it will affect you if you be honest about it and let them know that it was a mistake and how you have matured after it. I had a friend who got in with a drink driving charge and it’s not the best look but didn’t stop him from chasing his dream.
Hey cas, does ALL of these tips regard to reservist platoons?
Of course mate it's all about the team at Kapooka no different for reserves if anything it's more important for reserves
In The Trenches With Cas what about the team leader thing, will that happen in reserves such as being a 2ic?
DieselDuckFan2001 yes mate of course it’s something you do between yourselves off the record

Hey Cas, your videos are really selling the Army to me haha. Do you know much about Electronic Warfare Operator blokes and whether they seemed to enjoy their roles?
Originally planned to go Navy but my application got denied due to a Medical Class 4, which I'm trying to appeal D:
Funny you say that was what i enlisted in 1991 to do as a CORP Enlistment but changed to Infantry while at Kapooka the course has changed a lot and I am so glad I went with Infantry but that is just in looking back on an amazing career I am not sure if the course is still 40 weeks IET that is a bloody long time hey.
It's odd. Now I can smell face Camo paint.
Quick hide the nerf blasters.
I always use chalk based it's amazing and a pleasure to wear without coming off in your sleeping gear like a lady forgetting to take off her makeup after a one night stand.
@@inthetrencheswithcas1762 yeah the oil base 3 tone kits need a scrubber to get off. And have that smell.
It's odd I was watching the vid and had had and could smell the Camo paint. Never used the Camo cream sticks but people swear buy it.
1st of march any one
Will my knee injuries be an issue for joining the army?
If you want to go to infantry YES, otherwise you will be treated as a case by case consider army is like being a professional athlete but potentially for a career far longer than said athlete, no idea how bad your knees are but the army won't take on a liability they will have to pay for but not get capability from matey
In The Trenches With Cas thank you so much for the response. Love your videos!
