A Beginner's Guide To Champagne Jacques Selosse Style ( and A Visit To The Domaine)

Champagne Jacques Selosse is a legend. Those who know about this producer already know what I am talking about. I also know a lot of champagne drinkers who does not know Selosse, no problem. I also met people living in Champagne, France, working in the champagne industry, but do not know about the name of that house at all, no problem. I also met people who feel sexy when they talk about the Selosse bottle that they drank last night and they will not stop talking about it, no problem. These will happen, because Champagne Jacques Selosse is a rockstar and it will make people talk, there is no doubt about that.
Among all this fuss, winemaker of the house Anselme Selosse did keep pushing the boundaries to create this fermented grape juice in a very unique form and he created a "style" for his champagnes, a style that some beginners would have difficulties to understand if they were only used to "Brut Reserve" category of champagne in general. In this episode, I tried to explain this situation with my own words and experience while adding comments on my visit to the Domaine.
