The Champagne Houses You Should Know Series Episode 2
In these series, we will keep it as a "quick dive-in-deep" into the producer profiles, their styles and their champagnes. With all the respect to the Grande Marque Champagne Houses and their work for years, there are also small producers in Champagne Region that you really should know if you are into Champagne. There is no doubt that many people know such brands like Möet&Chandon, Dom Perignon, Krug etc. and we all appreciate them. But there are also excellent producers that are much smaller but still deserves great attention.
In this episode, I introduce you another favourite of mine, the champagne of finesse and elegance, Vilmart. Based in the Premier Cru village of Rilly-la-Montagne, they are one cult producer of Grower Champagnes, especially famous in USA among the sommeliers. Vilmart is now run by 5th generation, Laurent Champs, and is a part of the amazing producer's group called Les Artisans Du Champagne.
