At 3:51 a piano riff takes root, a simple 8-note progression. 10 seconds later the violin joins in, and I wish I had the articulation skills to put in words how that makes me feel. It feels like I'm falling thru space indefinitely but it's not a sinking feeling, just free fall. The first time I heard it I was caught in my tracks, the song had come alive. Orchestral post-rock is a surreal out-worldly experience.
I like how they can express so much without words, it's amazing... You can forget about all those famous popular bands nowadays. I think this is what music really is, a song without words and then again with a statement, which evolves from the title and the music. :] Yey for good music!
I know it's beautiful, but it is not my work, I just uploaded it here to share with Others. This video was made by Kurtis Hough and if You go to his website, the animation section, You will find this video there.
I feel this an adequate moment to express overwhelmingly, my adoration for this exceptional piece of musical art. My heart wanted to jump out of my chest, and came close to doing so...
this group really has captured the essence of the minor scale so artistically. The repetition really makes me think about all sorts of artistic things too.
This extravagant group of keys strung together expresses a pure msterpiece whilst showing dreamy melodic keys being played in a Suttle tone which makes the viewer of those piece daydream peacefully throughout days and days without reality being expressed once whilst this peace is being played
This is very beautiful. If you like this listen to the piece that I think this was inspired by, from a composer/serialist that wrote and writes some heartbreaking music. It's quite old: Arvo Part - Cantus In Memoriam Benjamin Britten
gotcha, that makes sense. it makes me think of bombs falling on a quiet english town during WW2, personally. the damage of the bombs being persistent and widespread, and changing irrevocably the nature of the town. i dont know if that makes sense
i think that is the beauty of abstract art, there is no right or wrong answer to what its means. that might be the meaning you wring out of it, but everybodys different, so we all might see different things
Oh, that is one of the most haunting and terrifyingly beautiful things I've ever experienced, I did not expect this. The part where it shifts from light to dark is strangely bewitching and emotionally stirring to me, I can't put my finger on it, but there's something about it that really moves me, this entire thing gives me some serious chills.
Nice animation. BTW the song in this video is only a movement of a 23min song titled "Lonely As The Sound Of Lying On The Ground Of An Airplane Going Down". It appears on their debut album, "He Has Left Us Alone But Shafts of Light Sometimes Grace the Corners of Our Rooms" which came out in 2000.
is just amazing ... no more words and I couldnt tell something near about the way how it makes me feel ... I think that this band is one of the best, I like Mono, GY!BE, Sunn o)))and i couldn't stop to listen this beautiful music...
Very Beautiful music, that haves a deep meaning..thanks ,piotrtom for shareing this with us. And yes i have to agree with Dragnim, it would be very intresting too meet someone that listens to this kind of music.
I have to start listening to more of this band their amazing. This song sounds like a much slower version 'sit in the middle of three galloping dogs' in the first half.
Can someone please tell me why we can't like videos multiple times? Now I have to be bothered to log on from multiple IPs to show my appreciation for this song! Belissimo.
When you see the video, several different thoughts come to mind. The soul, said previously by fastlane, but it makes me think of a machine, or maybe a clock, in a sense that there are no pauses, it just keeps on going with nothing impeding it's progress, but then eventually winds to a stop, regardless of nothing being in it's way.
@Ostendere May we all embrace the music. Notes are notes, rhythmic phrases are rhythmic phrases. Stop treating music like an item. Start treating it like a language.
@mdvo5 Should not forget about the title of the song which in a way fortells the real meaning of the whole song. Looking at the title I can see some evidence of treating the song to be somehow connected to resurrection or Jesus Christ's "rise" but I think this "rise" refers to our daily "getting-up" procedure and has nothing to do with religion. It's all about starting another rushing day, being dissatisfied with our conditions etc.
@KafelObrotowy well the white growing rings could be representative of the halo and the overall ascending violin riff could be symbolic of ascension to heaven. or not.
He Has Left Us Alone... is still their masterpiece imo.

wow what a comment on such old video mate, hope you're still one of us
The seeds of hope fall into greed then grow to drown out the light.
So very awesome. Love A silver Mt. Zion, Godspeed You! Black Emperor, and Explosions in the Sky. Truly epic
I find it that fate has brought me to the same bands too ^_^ Either that or the algorithm lol.
Yes these 3, right there, are my favorite post-rock bands. Each has its unique and amazing way to exist.
This song goes in to my inner thoughts!

This is so awesome, extensive use of strings in a post rock band makes such a great sound :)
