My chosen excerpts from the C.S. Lewis broadcast... "So what's really at the beck of the difficulty is this idea of God having to fit too many things into one moment of time. Well, that of course, is what happens to us. Our life comes to us moment by moment. One moment disappears before the next comes along and there’s room for precious little in each. That's what time is like. And of course you and I tend to take it for granted that this time series, this arrangement of past, present, and future, isn't simply the way life comes to us but is the way all things really exist. History isn't just a story of bad people doing bad things. It's quite as much a story of people trying to do good things but somehow something goes wrong. One’s point of view are the things that have to be changed. The change won't for most of us happen suddenly. And I must admit that for most Christians, it'll only be beginning for the very end of our present life. But there are some in whom it goes further even before they're far enough for you to see it. Their very faces and voices are different. When you meet them you know you're up against something, which so to speak, begins where you leave off. Something stronger, quieter, happier, more alive than ordinary humanity. No man who cares about originality will ever be original. That principle runs all through life from the top to the bottom. Give up yourself and you'll find your real self. Lose your life and you will save it. Submit to death, submit with every fiber of your being, and you will find eternal life. Look for Christ and you will get Him and with him everything else thrown in. Because the very first step toward getting a real self is to forget about the self it will come only if you're looking for something else. God has infinite attention, infinite leisure to spare for each one of us. You're as much alone with him as if you were the only thing he'd ever created. When Christ died, he died for you individually. Just as much as if you’d been the only man in the world."
Julianne, you have an amazing bluegrass singing voice, but it's this Love of Christ that shines from you and your family that draws me to The Petersen Family. God Bless you and your family! Thank you for shining the Light! God Speed!
You don’t know me from Adam, but I am so proud of you for being the young lady that you are, as I know your parents are. You are an inspiration for an old man during what I’m sure are the last worldly days.
Nice! I'm 63. I've been a Christian (Catholic, actually) since I was in my early twenties. I never got to read C.S. Lewis until a decade later when my three children wanted me to read it to them. I ended up reading the Narnia series entirely twice at nights after work over a period of several of their formative years. Our kids were home educated so 1 - 1/2 hours of bedtime reading gave mommy a nice break. The second time around I developed voices for all the characters. It was a blast. I've read most of Lewis books. He was a genius. If you have never seen the biographical movie about him called Shadowlands (1993) you ought to watch it. Thanks for posting this, Julianne. BTW: I'm an amateur mando player and I have been watching with great enjoyment your development as a mando player. Isn't it just the coolest instrument??? I'll try & remember to pray for college success for you. Good luck and God bless.
Beautiful video, Julianne. I only discovered C.S.Lewis as an adult, at the same time as rediscovering Christ. I wish it had happened earlier as many wrong turns were taken. Lewis had a knack for putting things in the simplest terms, while elucidating the greatest mysteries. His Christian writings are like Narnia books for grown-ups. As the basic story unfolds there is always a sense of something transcendent, something wonderful beyond, Someone calling. I hope college brings you many opportunities and blessings.
i didnt discover C S Lewis until my early twenties. i never broke a sweat just thinking until i read his work. He prepared my mind for Ravi Zacharias, another of my favs. enjoy the adventure of college, enjoy the moments, the challenges, the silliness, the pressures, breakthroughs, and the little victories. savor the moments.
Thanks for sharing your personal self. I've always thought time to be somewhat like a river, dip you hand in it today and again tomorrow, and never do you touch the same water again. Yet, God, who created it all, the river, the water, and me, is the same today, yesterday and tomorrow. Regardless of our individual circumstances, we Christians are truly blessed. And you Julianne, are a wise young lady who continues to be a blessing to many of us who listen to you and your family, not only because you all are especially talented and entertaining, but because you bring a joyful wholesomeness to screen that is so lacking today in America, Thank you, and God bless y'all!
Young lady you are a bright light in a darkening world. Your smile is contagious and the world needs more souls like yours. God bless you and your family. ❤️❤️🇺🇸💯
I was a bit disappointed this wasn't you singing a song... Then I watched the video and now I'm happy again. Love you little sister in Christ! Thank you for sharing. I needed this!
as hard as this modern world tried to teach me that its only my personals desires that matter, I always felt, and never really lost the feeling deep down. That there's something bigger than ourselves. and we need that relationship with the most high to truly be whole.
Good author, good lines! I love C.S. Lewis and his BBC radio broadcasted reflections. It's better read, than heard. :) All of his books are great. :) Thanks for nice 3 minutes!

Just found a collection of C.S. Lewis not long ago and am going g through it like the way he thinks wish more could see the way he did. I think perhaps this video came out at the right time for me. Thank you
C.S.Lewis was and still an amazing person. This video was such a bless to watch! I admire your faith in Jesus, from a Christian to another, it was very inspiring to see you sharing this message, God bless you and may use you to spread the gospel by your music or amazing videos like this!
That’s wonderful. Thank you so much. Your family are like a breath of fresh air. Diolch yn fawr. That’s “Thank you” in Welsh. Lots of love from Worcestershire, U.K. x
Thanks Julianne, very entertaining AND meaningful...I’ve never heard CS Lewis’s voice before, that was nice too. I feel like see the Spirit of Christ in your family in how ‘lovely’ you all are compared to virtually all people your age, it’s a real testimony and encourages me greatly. (I was one of the other ones till Christ changed me through much pain, eg, IV drugs, crime, etc.) Keep up the great work and walk!
I very much admire your faith. That was an excellent film. Deep and beautifully made and while I myself don't share your faith I very much admire it and the peace you get from it. Very best wishes for your studies and thank you for the beautiful music and song. (hopefully this makes sense. )
What a wonderful thing to share, Julianne. I really appreciate it. I discovered C.S.Lewis fairly late in life, compared to you. It was not long after he died (the same day as JFK) and I was in my very early 20s. I was agnostic at the time, but the Holy Spirit knew that Lewis was just the sort of writer who could draw me toward Him. Later, when I had been a church-goer for several years without being saved, I finally came to Christ, but there was no one in my church to mentor me. Lewis filled much of that void and I think of him sometimes as the midwife of my second birth and sometimes as my godfather.
I am amazed that a young person could have such a beautiful mind... what an amazing piece just put together... I love things that make me think, thinking bigger than me and bigger than my moment at the present time. Julianne you are a beautiful woman, with a beautiful heart n soul. Always think for yourself in school and life, never be a sheep. And know, to put no other gods before Jesus. Best of luck during college and life, Jimmy O. / Ohio
Fantastic video set to some timeless and theologically sound words. Great job! I recall a friend of mine a long time ago telling me that if I were the only person in the word, Christ would still have died for me. I made her cry with my thought that if that were the case, then I would be the one driving the nails. Her renewed realization of the depths of His love at that moment were a huge blessing to the both of us. Anyway, thanks for posting this! You have a real talent with mixing pictures and words!
Thanks for putting this out there Julianne! It’s not easy to have faith in this day and age, and seeing folks like you share your faith encourages the rest of us to do the same.

I'm so glad you and your family love the Lord, I love to listen to those who love the Lord. It brings an extra "Je ne sais quoi" for me...btw your version of "Gentle on my mind" is the second best I have heard, the best being Glen himself...
That last part reminds me of “only man in the world” by Lion of Judah. Not trying to talk about other people’s music. Just thought that you might enjoy the song as much as I do. Thank you for this video. It’s awesome to see other believers doing music on a professional level and seeing Christ use them. I love listening to y’all’s music. You and your family truly inspire me. I hope to do music for a living one day and be a vessel for God’s glory through it. Good thing I get to be a vessel for God’s glory either way! ha. Sincerely, Justin
