Great review! You made me take one step closer on getting this mixer. I’m in no rush but when the time comes, this might be the winner. Thank you again for this great review, it helped know you also had the same version of the vestax mixer I have.
i did the same thing just like u no cash no need for alot of the bells and whistles, so i go this used for less then four bills.... just to have fun and learn to scratch some more peace and njoy bro.. i love mines...
Got the Numark Scratch a little over a year ago for basically the same reasons. I come from the Numark, Gemini error were mixers only cost one hundred to two hundred dollars! I was using a Rane ttm56s and it was deffinitly the Best and most expensive mixer I ever had. Seeing how these new battle mixers were changing the game I started studying the Pioneer S9. I fell in love with the S9 but was not ready to pay $1600 for a mixer!!! When I saw Numark Scratch I figured half the amount of pads, half the price. I got the Numark on Cyber Monday last year and I have been very happy with it! I ended up switching out the cross fader for a better innofader PNP2 and have had a whole lot of fun with it!!! For the price you can't lose! It is a very solid mixer and with the paddles and the performance pads it's a great buy!!!
I still love the mixer. But to be honest, I do hope they discount the S9 over the holidays with the S11 now out. Because there are things that the S9 has that the Scratch is lacking. BUT, at the price point I'm killing it on twitch against some of the other DJs with the "industry standard" mixer. If you have the money, get the flagship model, else the Scratch will do you fine.
As you get use to it, a cheaper option to upgrade might be an add-on controller ie: DDJ-XP2. That's what I use with my Numark Scratch, I'm loving it and I didn't have to spend a grand 🙂
1000% agree, I was considering that option and still saving money. By far this is the best budget mixer. Funny thing, I just won an S11-SE and yes it has awesome bells and whistles. BUT at the end of the day if I had to spend my money, I would still get the Numark and an extra controller and do pretty much the same stuff I'm doing on the S11 but way cheaper. If you have the cash laying around, get the S11, if not, the Numark is a great choice.
@@djd-man4255 i hvnt got a big budget to work with but in terms of bang for buck and this mixers capabilities, its in my ball park, thanks for the review despite over 12months+ ago✌
Couple quick questions--are you able to record your mixes into your laptop with this mixer only being a 2 channel? And are you able to configure the “echo out” effect? I know these are old school questions for a somewhat old school mixer now but those are the 2 main questions for me. I still have an SL3 interface box stuck on serato dj 2.5, with dicers and the vestax effects plug-in, so im weighing my options to either get this mixer or upgrade to the reloop flux interface box so i can finally upgrade my serato software with stems. But if i go with this mixer, i wanna make sure i can still record/input my mixes into my laptop with it and configure the echo out as the effects pads only says “echo”.
Thanks man. I find myself in kind of the same position. After 10 Years of not DJing. I want to find my way back into the art. Back in the days, I was a quite ambitious turntablis (1999ff.) Setup: 2x 1210 and a 05er for Mixing and a 06er for battlestuff. So your video is exactly what I needed. What is your experience after longer period of time. Still convinced?
I hope you get back into it. This was a piece of my life that was missing for 10yrs as well. See my replies below, but I don't have the Scratch anymore. I was lucky enough to win an S11. Now I would never go back to the Scratch after being on the S11 for over a year now. BUT... if I had never won it, I would still be on the Scratch. It was a great mixer and the cross fader was really nice. But just being on the big boy and experimenting with it, I can't go back. My advice, if you're willing to read the manual, watch some UA-cam videos on the Pioneer and will experiment and open up its features... then yes save up your money, the S11 is well worth the price. But if you are only going to blend records and cut, then the Scratch will do you fine. It's just I see these massive mixers and DJs aren't doing anything with them... they are computers waiting for a DJ to program them. I've been really opening up mine these past few months. I got this mixer a couple of years ago and mostly works fine but I cannot get the pads to produce/play any captured sound in cue, sample or roll modes. The buttons do light up but that's it. I'm using Serato DJ Pro 3.0.4. Any suggestions for what the issue could be? I'm using a Dell Latitude 7490 laptop with specs as follows: Processor Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-8350U CPU @ 1.70GHz 1.90 GHz Installed RAM 8.00 GB (7.88 GB usable) System type 64-bit operating system, x64-based processor. Thanks in advance for any recommendations.
I no longer have this mixer, but just wanted to ask that you do have your cue points set up in serato and can play music via the control vinyl? Also, I would up the ram to 16gb, granted that isn't your issue now, but could become one with all the new features in serato 3.0 and beyond.
@@silverback1017 I haven't done any cue set up in Serato as I didnt know that was needed (there's not mention of it in the Numark instruction manual) - how do I do that? Thanks
Ironically this weekend I WON an S11se. So I will be selling this mixer. The Scratch has been a nice upgrade and transition from my 05 and I still recommend getting it if you dont want to drop $2K. I was just fortunate to win the newest flagship, if I hadn't I would still be rocking the Scratch for the foreseeable future.
I have the S11-SE and love it! You will enjoy it! I do enjoy the sound from the reloop elite mixer and for house music/blending the reloop elite is a nice edition.
Fully understand that, BUT I would recommend spending another $150-$200 and getting the DJM S5 if you can. That gets you in the realm of the big boys, but keeps you under $1k.
Yes, there are better mixers out there, but most DJs never scratch (no pun intended) the surface of what those $1000+ mixers can do. For the price, this is a great mixer and most DJs will utilized a lot of it's features.

Thinking of gettin this mixer myself but can the sample still be used without the dvs?

Do the effects work with vinyl? I got it for £300 mainly for recording and effects
I don't have the mixer anymore, but I checked with a DJ that does, and he said, "No, the effects are only for serato and not actual vinyl."

Any answers on why I only get sound from one side of the mixer??? Can’t figure it out for nothin…
One side... meaning only channel 1 works or only the left side (no stereo).
