There is an odd conflict with your channel. On the one hand, you moved away from ordinary things like your original videos, but on the other hand the channel did take a shift that is more artistic as it covers things that are "ordinary" in the sense that those are things we live with on a day by day basis. In a sense, mass surveillance is indeed an ordinary thing (in the 21st century) but its not an intuitively ordinary thing. I personally was happy with the form the channels started as but it is still an interesting twist on that original concept so I guess I will see where this is all going.

This quote from Neil Postman is relevant, as at the end of your video you cover the main issues Huxley's Brave New World contended with:
What Orwell feared were those who would ban books. What Huxley feared was that there would be no reason to ban a book, for there would be no one who wanted to read one. Orwell feared those who would deprive us of information. Huxley feared those who would give us so much that we would be reduced to passivity and egotism. Orwell feared that the truth would be concealed from us. Huxley feared the truth would be drowned in a sea of irrelevance. Orwell feared we would become a captive culture. Huxley feared we would become a trivial culture, preoccupied with some equivalent of the feelies, the orgy porgy, and the centrifugal bumblepuppy. As Huxley remarked in Brave New World Revisited, the civil libertarians and rationalists who are ever on the alert to oppose tyranny "failed to take into account man's almost infinite appetite for distractions." In 1984, Orwell added, people are controlled by inflicting pain. In Brave New World, they are controlled by inflicting pleasure. In short, Orwell feared that our fear will ruin us. Huxley feared that our desire will ruin us.

You had people like Lars Ulrich saying shit like “the kids just aren’t as rebellious anymore.” Well there’s a reason for that, CCTV is everywhere and if someone does anything rebellious today within 2 seconds everyone’s got a phone out and is recording them. Therefore anything naughty you do you get caught for.

After the collapse of the Berlin Wall, and the not so nice experience they had with the secret police, they had a policy of not tracking their citizens. So it might be possible to cut back on mass surveillance if you have a bad enough past of it

Btw.: 1984 was published, not written in 1949. It was withheld during the war, and the original title was 1948. But it was a hot potato and thus was published after the war and with this new, more distant title. You see, Orwell thought of his vision as to be unfolding in his present. Also check out Anthony Burgess "1985", a critical essay and alternative novel more aptly depicting 1980' ahead.
