Parry and Rend. With Superior Thunderbolt, Tanny owl and Hanged man's Venom. I finished it quite easily, but I mess up with the choice just after this fight so I had to do this again :(, that time I used Dancing star with Whirlwind. And the previously mentioned potions.
People often argue on what the best BaW ending is. I personally think there's no good ending. They all have consequences. Even though he was blackmailed, Dettlaff did end up killing hundreds of people. So Syanna and Dettlaff both had to die, but Regis didn't deserve what happened to him. It's amazing how CD Projekt Red plays with your head lol
Pretty much why Blood and Wine was so amazing- there's so much gray morality crap going on. There's no true "villain", just people who've been shafted to the point they resorted to horrible measures. While both Syanna and Detlaff both resorted to very evil means, their anger and spite at the situations at hand were very much justified. Creates believable and somewhat sympathetic antagonists; more games could learn a lot from how they handled this.
I wanted to have Annariette alive but Syana punished for she deserved a punishment, maybe even by the Elder One. But maybe that had influence on the scene back home at your vineyard...dunno.
There's an ending where Dettlaf survive and Regis don't have to kill him and become a pariah among vampires, but Syana will die in that ending killed by Dettlaf and Anna will be pissed at Geralt and send him to jail :D
Zyad Hakmi i got that prison ending first sadly (bc regis bae) the only good thing from that was getting a drawing of a woman in a little optional quest in there. then Geralt's all "hm this'll look nice on my wall"
Wooslayer MCOC ciri is really nothing compared to master mirror (literally nothing) ,, doesn't matter how powerful she is ,, he can stop time itself,, ciri would be dead in seconds
you just have to roll when the moment of silence arrives before he uses the bat swarm, also you can beat him in six hits if you use a tank built with a lot of potions, but i prefer using ligth atacks you do kill him quickly but it´s a lot more enjoyable.
Dettlaff van der Eretein: "If you acknowledge any gods, start praying now!" * * * * * Geralt of Rivia: "AREEES! DESTROY MY ENEMIES! AND MY LIFE IS YOUUURS!"
I played Vampyr and Blood and wine dlc And to be honest both final bosses was harder than entire Dark Souls 3. Blood and Vine and Vampyr has showed me that vampires are alive , they are emotional like humans. In the good end of Vampyr we can see Jonathan who is trying to safe Lady Ashbury from suicide. Both games shows that vampires can love and being agressive because of emotions.
@@Leohast well i did and umm... well dettlaff's skull is on my wall at Corvo Bianco and 'O Dimm wants me to do certain tasks that tend to be harder than what he had provided me for the man with the heart of stone... I wouldn't say everything went bad, cause I got rewarded by the duchess!
Did you ever hear the Tragedy of Dettlaff the Vengeful? I thought not, it's not a story The Nilfgaardians would tell you, It's a Toussaint Legend. Dettlaff Van Der Eretein was a Higher Vampire so old and so powerful, he made the King of The Wild Hunt look like child's play. Dettlaff had fallen in love with a human woman, who when she disappeared from his life, he was convinced she was kidnapped. He was greeted with letters telling of her being held hostage and in order to free her, he would have to kill 5 Toussaint nobleman in an act of Vengeance. Little did he know that the kidnapper was his beloved who had used him from the start, in a mad fit of rage he killed her but was soon struck down by Geralt of Rivia and Regis, a Vampire who's life he had saved. Ironic... he did all those horrible deeds for the one he loved but never for himself.
TheSzymax Yet he is still a beast. Worst is he has a bad temper. Nevermind syanna cause we get to plough her and let her forgive her sister in the end. Lol!
Detlaff was emotionally unstable and deserved to be killed in my opinion Imagine you are a powerful and immortal being such as he, would you murder hundreds of innocent civilians simply as a way of getting a woman's attention who was responsible for breaking your heart? Vampires are described as emotionally rich (i think), but that does not excuse his actions One of such great power should learn to have restraint and a sense of responsibility greater than he had; his actions were brutal and unnecessary His disregard for human life during his moment of rage might be attributed to vampires' superiority complex over humans, which is a sign of a severe lacking of the compassion any sapient being should possess, immortal or not Syanna was a wicked person with a terrible grudge on those who did her wrong, but you could argue her intentions were just, what those of Beauclair had done to her, a person of even royal status, over some vague superstition, was wrong She murdered those who wronged her, not indiscriminantly like Detlaff did Planning to exploit a higher vampire was dangerous and foolish and she deserved to be punished, but the innocents of Beauclair did not I remember walking through the streets of Beaucliar during the vampire attack and thought to myself "jesus christ this is overkill"; i was surprised anyone managed to survive at all in the end, the place was bloody devastated lol
After beating this vampire, I am surprised as to why anyone in the witcher universe even decides to fight against someone like Geralt. Seriously, the wild hunt stood no chance, the only reason they were strong was because of that frost magic. Once Geralt found how to counter that, it was game over for Imlerith, Caranthir and Eredin.
karankenZ that said, Geralt isn’t supposed to be invincible. He’s extremely skilled but there are many beings that outmatch him. That’s what’s so legendary. Witcher or no, he’s still just a man. That said, Dettlaff’s fight is one of the only ones that made me feel like Geralt only won by being absolutely perfectly on top of his game. The higher vampires were well depicted as basically being dark Demi-gods. Not just monsters, but demons.
In the books Geralt is certainly powerful, but not invincible. In reality he would stand no chance against higher vampires, or even many of the most skilled mages. In the game it is ofcourse different
@@jellebos1481 lol he could defeat any vampire in the books as 'only vampires can kill vampires' bullshit was for the game. Also just pointing out, Vilgefortz would make Dettlaf his bitch
@@batkaya3521 When Geralt discovers Regis is a higher vampire in the books, he tells Dandelion, who in turn asks him if that means trouble. Geralt responds that if so, he's not sure he can win this fight and hopes for everyone's sake he won't have to find out. Lorewise, he struggled with a Bruxa and lost in fair melee fight to a mage who didn't even use magic (aside from a durable staff), so it's not far-fetched to consider him an underdog in fight against Dettlaff.
I was incredibly surprised when Syanna disappeared in Detlaff's hands. All the emotion and I really didn't want anyone to die, so when he tried to kill her and she disappeared I immediately was taken aback. Didn't even think about the ribbon. Great story, great writing, great song, incredible game. I simply cannot get enough of it.
I feel like I'm one of the few people that doesn't think Syanna was nearly as bad as Dettlaff. Was she a bitch? Yes. Did she attempt to massacre an entire city? No.
@@thatrabidpotato8800 Detlaff had no evil intentions, but was blackmailed by Syanna. That is the difference beetween them. Also Detlaff warned them multiple times that if Syanna wasn't delivered to him there would be consequences, Detlaff did everything he could. Syanna on the other hand is an absouletely whore and evil because she had a shitty childhood. And Anna is naive and stupid. She doesn't deserve to be the ruler of Beauclair. The ending where they both die and Detlaff goes free is the best ending.
@@mucurovic4665 "He warned them multiple times". Doesn't matter. It doesn't matter how many times he warned them, he never gets the right to attempt to massacre a whole city because his girlfriend dumped him. Don't make excuses for him. He had plenty of evil intentions of his own. Syanna can be redeemed. Dettlaff can't.
@@thatrabidpotato8800 How on fucking earth syanna can be redeemed after BLACKMAILING a HIGHER VAMPIRE into killing and mutilating HIS OWN FRIENDS? you expect the higher vampire to fucking sit idly by and say i forgive you syanna but i don't want to see you again? what the fuck? Detlaff literally had no evil itentions from the get-go he is fucking forced to do it otherwise his "love" is going to be killed. And when that same"love" is found to be the one blackmailing him he tells that he wants a confrontation with syanna and it is his fucking right after what syanna did to him. Yet every single turn rejected because anna is an idiot. Detlaff overstepped his bounds by atacking the city and should have gone for the citadel only instead. But still he did it after so many warnings, he is justified. "syanna can be redeemed, detlaff can't" YIKES edit: "he never gets the right to attempt to massacre a whole city becuase his girlfriend dumped him" an another YIKES from me there. Syanna didn't simply "dump" him, she literally blackmailed him into killing his friends. How is that for "dumping"?
Honestly go on estsy and see if there are any custom leatherworkers there. Get some good screenshots and hand them a good amount of cash. A great jaket thats full length and well made should be in the $400-600 ballpark. (Its worth it bc you dont replace these things. I have my mothers and shes had it since the early 90s.)
Nothing is ever a Violen ^^ Was listening to Gears of War soundtrack the other day and I believe that used a Cello or Double Bass, after somebody also said "When that violen kicks in" lol
Definitely one of the most powerful creatures Geralt ever came across ! Dude was able to bring a whole city to it's knees without even breaking a sweat . Let alone his fighting abilities .
This boss on Death March was on par with dark souls. "Sweet, this isn't so bad... Oh shit he transformed, better pop my Quen shi-" *BOOM* *[You have died]*
Its definitely on par with a lot of bosses, but nothing on the hardest 10% those games offer. I played witcher first, the DS3, my first fromsoft game, then W3 DLCs, and then DS3 DLCs, all of those bosses are harder for most people, even if you take into account, that you get better the more you play. The combat system in witcher offers a lot more variety, but it can also be exploited a lot more if you know your stuff.
@@Carsu12 difficult base on how you play is not artificial but the boss having a spammable one shot attack is artificial at its max you dont lose because you didn't learn his pattern yet like souls games, you lose because an op AOE that literally rip even quen apart thats artificial difficult because detlaff without that attacks is a breeze in the park he only have like one combo
Well the sad part given mythology geralt could have taken his head showed it to The duchess Dettlaff would have regenerated in a few years. It would have given him time to get his head on straight.
As Geralt dodges bobs and weaves Detlaff, laughing in his face, thinking " Oh another easy boss fight," Detlaff becomes frustrated with the agility of the Witcher, and transforms into winged mode. Geralt laughs and put up Quen shield. Geralt says " As soon as he attacks I shall heal myself with the damage and then atta......IF YOU ACKNOWLEDGE ANY GODS START PRAYING NOW." !!! Aaaauuugh! *you have died*
Addam Abdullah Not me.I'm so Op that on Blood and broken bones I can get past that form of his on his first landing. He's the one that needs to start praying.Lmao!
I didn't pray once on Blood and Bones. Dettlaff isn't that diffcult. His bat swarms is the only thing that's a pain in the ass considering it stuns locks you and takes away 75% of your health or if your unlucky, one shots your ass.
It's a shame you barely get to hear this one because of how short the first stage of the fight is. This track is hands down one of the most badass battle themes in the entire game imo
I started hating Anna when she compared hunting a vampire to hunting foxes, and then letting vampires swarm the city because she was too selfish to let go of her sister who was planning murders.
She was the reason her sister was exiled in the first place, she didn't want to lose her again. Guilt and love didn't allow her to put her people first. As for vampires, she grossly underestimated how dangerous they are. In the end, humans are just like vampires- emotionally rich.
Well I like how they shook this one up with his different forms, first half felt like fighting one of the wild hunt leaders or Olgierd while the second half felt like fighting the griffin or a monster: perfect use of Geralt's skills.
Kritherion he wasn't mad because he was tricked in to killing people, it was mainly the fact that someone he loved deeply (vampire emotions are even stronger remember) lied and deceived him
Attacking Beauclair was the final nail in that metaphorical coffin. I get it, the pussy make you crazy, but the innocent little colourful Touissant children didn't do anything to him and like fuck was i letting Cap-i-tan Baldy Scar face die.
Im in love with how morally gray Blood & Wine's endings are. I can't help but feel shitty for both Dettlaff and Syanna, as they've both been through so much. Both wanted revenge on those who have harmed them. While I think the best option is to put both of them out of their misery, none of the endings feel truly satisfying, and I find that fuckin fantastic
Regis in his feral form looks like an actual bat! Not sure on what breed Detlaff is based on, but If you take a look Detlaff had traditional number 3 fangs. Common in vampire desings. While Regis has the frontal fangs of a vampire bat!!! (Google them, beautifull crearures) And thus creating a supperior jaw aligment for drawing blood.
I love the feeling this track gives you. The way the violin sounds so jarring and harsh and at the same time, the vocal work gives you a sad feeling like "I don't want to fight you Dettlaff, but you have to be stopped". The unrelenting rage and inconsolable grief brewing inside Dettlaff finally being unleashed is the only way to explain how I take it in. Gives it an epic feel and ties into the story very well. 10/10 would play again
I love how tonally dissonant B&W is. In the dreamy vassal state of Toussaint, lies a dark secret. Vampires, able to wipe out the human population of this state by themselves, are hidden amongst the regular townsfolk. And when you really start to explore, you find that not everything was as it seems. For the Beast of Beauclair is none other than Dettlaff, a Higher Vampire, one of the strongest races in the Witcher Universe. Hidden beneath those movie-like hills that stretch beyond Toussaint, is the Unseen Elder, who could kill everyone before they realised they were being annihilated. Even a noblewoman is a Higher Vampire. Blood is hidden amongst the Wine, blending in plain sight, and Geralt must uncover the truth behind the brutal murders. This DLC was perfect.
Those who say that detlaff acted naively over being hurt by a girlfriend, you do not understand. You should have payed more attention to " the curse of the black sun." That curse in real life, translates to sociopathy or psychopathy. These people are not "psycho," they are often more intelligent than people who are not. Extremely charming, usually very attractive, usually amazing lovers, and completely and utterly devoid of emotion or conscience. They exist for one reason, the emotional destruction of the good people who inhabit the earth. They get a "high." feeding on the sadness and despair of those around them, and indeed try to effect that change. Imagine someone who showed interest in you, married you, made you believe that you were the most wonderful person in the world, then changed and began making you feel sad and distressed, all the while eating this despair energy, and receiving pleasure from your pain. Suddenly they cheat on you, leave you, use you, degrade you, and you find out later that they specifically targeted you for mere amusement, while you , broken, are considering suicide. Detlaff was not justified, but he was also not weak or naive. That curse is real.
That's a bit of Hollywood depiction of psychopathy, though. They aren't more intelligent than average, or particularly attractive. They are (as you said) devoid of empathy and conscience, but also highly narcissistic, and often badly lacking in impulse control. They can be quite charming and certainly extremely manipulative, mostly because they're such utterly shameless liars. Normal person, when he's lying or stringing together contradictory statements, feels stress that often shows, and when he's caught, tends to be ashamed (or deflect that by becoming angry). Psychopaths don't, and so circumvent a lot of methods we use to detect lying. Their pathologically high self-esteem helps in charming others, as well. They aren't necessarily sadists, either, though when they are, things can get seriously ugly. At the very worst, serial killer ugly. They're just completely amoral. Sure, they may hurt others just for the thrill of power, or to feed their delusions of superiority. Mostly there are sort of rational goals, though, and hurting others, as one said, is just like "squashing a bug". Smarter, more controlled types may poison their work environment and convincingly slander you to steal the promotion you earned. They may also play the sort of social games you depict, and make you look like the bad guy or crazy bitch to others, as well. The sort of scum that fills the prisons all around the world beats a gas station clerk half to death for a case of beer because he forgot his wallet and didn't want to walk three blocks back, and gets promptly caught because he couldn't bother hiding his stupid face (which the police knows perfectly well) from security cameras. Not that it was his fault, because it never is. Still, psychopathy is exactly what came to my mind as well when talking to Syanna. And then I realized just how twisted the Curse actually is. Not only does it seem to create psychopaths, but with its creepy myth it practically makes sure the girls get treated in humiliating, traumatizing ways. Psychopathy appears to be something you're born with, but man, can you ever make it worse that way. O'Dimm would be proud.
Well, not really. This "curse" was part of a book story and it's not clear, what the curse really does. The thing is, that those people with the curse are normally treated not like humans. Some experimented with them, some were banished. So it could also be, that not the curse made them like this, but the humans around them.
Also known as: Succubus.... in a way. Btw. a good pop culture example for such a character is shown in Gone Girl. Only watched the movie and it is truly amazing and disturbing. But on topic: The curse was never clearly shown as a curse such like uttered by the Crones or similar. It was just said she had one and people acted like she was cursed, which might have actually put a label on her, which was the actual curse. That drove her into being the villain everybody saw in her and she was satisfied by taking rvenge. If all environment acts like you are cursed, you will start believing in this, since the only thing you get is negative confirmation. hence she was in puberty and only about 14 or something? Basically still a child, who got mistreated. And that is all you can do when grown up when you never experienced anything else. Dysfunctional families create dysfunctional offsprings.
No. Curse of Black sun is just superstition. In "lesser evil" Renfri was one of these people, but she also suffered horrible childhood by her mother in law wanting her dead. Then there is Eskel's unexpected child, Deidre. She also was cursed. Apparantely, those born under curse have mutations etc. so, if you kill her in w1, they cut her open and there is no proof for curse of the black sun.
Eredin was the final boss of the Witcher 3. Dettlaff was the final boss of the Witcher, as a game series. Blood and Wine was, after all, the end of Geralt's journey along the Path. And damn if it didn't end well.
Detlaaf is a worthy foe for Geralt's final battle. Truly is the hardest boss and a formidable foe to have. Him settling down with Yenn and later remaking the School of the Wolf in Vesemir's place. That's how the story of my Geralt goes.
Well, the game strongly hints that Geralt is completely tired of this shit. Even if you choose "i would like to stay a witcher" in the final dialog with Regis, Geralt says smth like "well, i would like to settle down, but I just can't live another life"
Geralt just wants to chill and he's fundamentally opposed to the "greater good" morality of putting innocent kids through the mutations. Witchers dying out seems to be the end.
Blood and wine is my favourite dlc of any game ever because of Dettlaff. He is not the one who ordered the murders, but as a victim of circumstance, he chose to do something way worse than what was done to him and felt totally justified. The arrogance of higher vampires is just through the roof, and that’s why the only way to stop him was to let him have his way, or kill him. No middle-ground, no compromises. And that was what made this story so perfect, none of the choices you made (and this applies to the main game of Witcher 3 as well), felt satisfying. You are never a hero in this game, most people hate you, and you can easily make enemies. The only person in this game that makes you feel loved 100% of the time is Ciri. It’s no happy ever after fantasy story, it’s if the real world was filled with magic and monsters.
Am I the only one who felt right with this boss battle? I felt from the first time Detlaff and Geralt fought that this was inevitable. Even moreso after he set the vampires on the city. The clash of the titans, Geralt and Detlaff. I dunno it just felt like the resolution I was thinking of since the story started.
'You and he are not so different. You've both noble hearts, yet are wont to perform ignoble deeds -- when circumstances force you to, of course.' From the moment Regis said that I felt a showdown was inevitable. The whole 'two sides of the same coin' trope (not to use the term 'trope' to imply its a bad thing).
Perhaps predictable, but QUITE well set up :P investigations of seemingly unconnected murders, the afterparty conversation with Regis, Orianna, Henrietta AND Dettlaff, then Rhena's betrayal; you empathise and understand his outrage, but his minions laying siege to all of Beauclair settled it: no way Dettlaff could walk away. Time to end the Beast of Beauclair! :D
In terms of visuals sure but i have to say witcher 3 really did not have that good boss fights. If detlaff is the best in the game that just shows that cdpr focused more on other areas in devoloping the game. Doesnt matter much though because the story makes the game worth playing 10 timer over. Nothing is perfect
I would like to take a moment to comment on Geralt’s extraordinary feats. Keep in mind that i am a new comer to the series having only played the third installment. Nevertheless, i have seen some glimpses of his achievements (and downfalls) in both the books and the first two games of the series. Before delving into the details i want to inform you that English is not my main language. Therefore, please excuse any grammatical, /vocabulary/spelling errors should there be any. Such mistakes are inevitable as at the time of writing this analysis. Whew, with that out of the way. Let’s begin: Geralt of Rivia has shown some incredible feats during the game. Even more so that what i had expected based on my, albeit little knowledge of the books. He is said to be one of the greats swordsmen in the books. In the games, i truly believe that he became THE greatest. Having learned his last lessons from Vesemir, defeating all of the Wild Hunt’s main players and finally, defeating Olgierd von Everec. An immortal who has undoubtedly mastered his craft based on the countless duels he had been into. Not disregarding the fact that he also was using black magic. A very high and dangerous form of magic. Regarding the Wild hunt, Caranthir is ment to be their strongest. Yet, Geralt managed to defeat him in a duel which is something, Eskel could not. Eskel, based on my limited knowledge of the books is said to have displayed a greater level of swordsmanship than that of Geralt’s. You could argue that Eskel was fighting a completely healthy Caranthir whilst the latter was slightly wounded in his fight with Geralt. Even then, i still doubt that Eskel could have taken him on with all of the Elf’s teleports and use of arcane powers. Geralt has shown to be the better fighter against enemies with teleportation abilities. Another proof of this is Geralt’s “snowball fight” with ciri. She teleprted all around the place. Notwithstanding, Geralt still managed to win (bonus the heartwarming hug between them
Undoubtedly the hardest fight in the entire game. This guy made the wild hunt look like school children - and I love it that way, it really hammered the idea that higher vampires are a big fucking deal. Geralt & Regis have been friends for around 10-15 years and they are basically as basically as close as Geralt & Jaskier, but Regis & Detlaff go back hundreds of years, this was an epic struggle far beyond even Geralt's depth.
Dettlaff deserved better imo, he was treated like an animal throughout his life, then betrayed by syanna, and it made him insanely unstable over time. I really wish things had gone better for him :'(
you could see geralt was trying his hardest to avoid fighting this guy.they are like gods, geralt just mere mortal. he redeeming grace that he not just any mortal. he is a badass, accomplishes the impossible. A legend
Something I haven't seen anyone draw to attention is the emotion in this soundtrack: the wild rage, the fear of a f*cking vampire in berserker mode, the grief of that vampire that aflamed his rage, and still... The theme of a hunter. A hunter of monsters, just another contract
In my mind, i think I imagined Regis a bit shorter than it was in TW3, with sort of a permanent grin and of course, long hair. But when I saw Regis' picture before playing BaW, I absolutely loved what CDPR did with him, they absolutely nailed him.
*My sister puts on vampire outfit on Hellowen* -Hey brother, do i look like a real vampire? *Me catches flashbacks about Detlaff* -No sister, you aren't
Man, CDPR are masters of writing interesting characters. I mean every character from BaW has things that you can like about them as well as things that make them equally bad. There is, truly, no black and white.
Every fantasy game should treat the OG legendary beasts like The Witcher treated vampires with Dettlaff, like the final bosses they are, i was fighting Dettlaff imagining i was fighting Count Dracula himself. Imagine a boss fight agaisnt THE Werewolf, THE Ghost, THE Witch, THE Lich, THE Bogeyman, all with a well deserved tough as nails fight.
I wanted so badly to do things Regis way, help him save his brother. And it's hard not to feel sorry for Dettlaf, everything hes been doing, it's all just to be reunited with one of the very few creatures in his millennia old existence he ever loved. But then the Vampires charged into Beauclair and I knew, there was no saving Dettlaf. He had been overcome by the darkness, his soul left with nothing but hate, and he'd gone too far to ever be forgiven. All that could be done now was put him out of his misery
I just finished Blood and Wine and I needed to come back for this song. The drums get me everytime. If my song didn't sound like this if I was a final boss, I dont want it.
They were both human, pointing the guilty one is wrong in a situation that convoluted. She had her reasons, and he had his. But they both put innocent people at risk, so they both had to be stopped.
If you see it from human to human PoV, Dettlaf is probably the antagonist for genocide almost everyone in Toussaint but remember he are vampire, being like this is like breathing to us, he try to became more humanitarian like Regis so it's like denying his own nature, so please spare him and let Regis help him to redeem himself for what he did.
+Joshua Mentore His actions were understandable for a while until he followed through with his promise by attempting to destroy beauclair. Hundreds or thousands of innocents there
This is literally the only boss fight in all or most of the games i have played that i did not enjoy. It's not because he is difficult, honestly even on Death March he was easy, the difficult part was killing him. I feel for him, i do not agree entirely with his actions and decisions but i don't blame him either. Syanna, you are the true Beast of Beauclair.
He had the choice, he could fucking stop and think, instead of just going to a murderous frenzy. If there's anything that storyline tells us, is no matter how much you love her, never become a monster for anyone, even if it's your truest love
Such a tragic thing. You having to kill him, or suffer being shamed by all of Toussaint, despite everything you did for them. Regis is the one most heart broken. Having tk cjoose between his two friends, Detlaff, and Geralt. That is why, I let Detlaff kill Syanna and then go. Because I just couldn't bring myself to make Regis make a choice. And if I had, I'd rathee he chose Detlaff. Because timeline wise, as well as emotionally, Detlaff has more meaning than Geralt! But still, wonderful writing by CD Project Red. Betaeen this, and choosing Djikstra or Roche, it was the hardest decisions ever. Choosing Djikstra meant a better Temeria in the future. But Roche is your friend. Choosing to slay Detlaff meant you recieved high honors in Toussaint, but Regis is your friend, and you indirectly hurt him.
If you are having problem with this boss bat attack. Here is a tip from me. Just before he launches the bats forward bats sprung beneath him downwards. If at the exact moment when the bats sprung downwards You make a long roll, You dodge the attack 100% of the time. Thank me later ;)
Dettlaff fight was awesome, a high vampire that has the typical aristocratic looks but fights like a true and formidable foe, makes look Eredin boss fight like some kindergarten stuff, only the one is spooky is the Legendary Man of Glass, whose name in the Witcher community resonates with terror.
Does this track have a name in the official OST?
I think it's called "The Beast of Beauclair" not sure.
That's the one. Thanks, my dude.

"Who taught you to fight like this?"
"The Witcher you slew!"
Dettlaff and Imlerith best bosses

I like to think that CDPR made the fight like that on purpose; given how you could cheese every other major boss fight with Quen.

Instinct yeah they were tough, but you could fight them 1 on 1 as well :)

Wonderful story.

Masterwitcherian thumbs up for username! :p
growmania thanks! :)
Syanna turned into a beast because of how people treated her.
Detlaff was emotionally unstable and deserved to be killed in my opinion
Imagine you are a powerful and immortal being such as he, would you murder hundreds of innocent civilians simply as a way of getting a woman's attention who was responsible for breaking your heart? Vampires are described as emotionally rich (i think), but that does not excuse his actions
One of such great power should learn to have restraint and a sense of responsibility greater than he had; his actions were brutal and unnecessary
His disregard for human life during his moment of rage might be attributed to vampires' superiority complex over humans, which is a sign of a severe lacking of the compassion any sapient being should possess, immortal or not
Syanna was a wicked person with a terrible grudge on those who did her wrong, but you could argue her intentions were just, what those of Beauclair had done to her, a person of even royal status, over some vague superstition, was wrong
She murdered those who wronged her, not indiscriminantly like Detlaff did
Planning to exploit a higher vampire was dangerous and foolish and she deserved to be punished, but the innocents of Beauclair did not
I remember walking through the streets of Beaucliar during the vampire attack and thought to myself "jesus christ this is overkill"; i was surprised anyone managed to survive at all in the end, the place was bloody devastated lol
@@keenaneriksson6346 If the fight was a cutscene, Dettlaff would've killed Geralt in seconds

I didn't pray once on Blood and Bones. Dettlaff isn't that diffcult. His bat swarms is the only thing that's a pain in the ass considering it stuns locks you and takes away 75% of your health or if your unlucky, one shots your ass.
Dettlaff's "I have neither woman nor bruxa left to get laid" theme

The Last fight against Dettlaff actually had noteworthy phases (Not to mention bad ass cutscenes!)!
concur. I felt like even imelrith was more fun than eredin or olgierd.
Well I like how they shook this one up with his different forms, first half felt like fighting one of the wild hunt leaders or Olgierd while the second half felt like fighting the griffin or a monster: perfect use of Geralt's skills.
How about Iris' Greatest Fear?
By this time I'd had enough of coddling him for Regis' sake. It was time to settle things the Witcher's Way.
I know right? Same, Regis didn't seem to mind either
Kritherion he wasn't mad because he was tricked in to killing people, it was mainly the fact that someone he loved deeply (vampire emotions are even stronger remember) lied and deceived him
SpecialNewb killed him
There is also the fact that the thot also made him kill his friend, which is one of the 4 victims.
Love this. Btw, Dettlaff looks sick in this form, but Regis like a big rabbit
I wouldn't pat that rabbit though.

Fucking going to replay the DLC after this song.
Nice! Might as well replay it too. Can't ever get enough of this game lol.

O'Dimm would be proud.
well said, sir. well said.
You could see the pain in Regis' eyes when he realised he had to fight against either Geralt or Dettlaff
I just have a live action version of the Witcher going around in my head. And this fight with this song would be a thing of beauty.
Yeah, but don't let Netflix touch it or they'll ruin it 😅
Henry Cavill could still be Geralt though, he is the best thing out of that mess!
I've been drawing for 3 hours with blood and wine soundtrack and I've never been so productive!
Fight with the Dettlaff is the TRUE final boss fight of the Witcher 3
I was kinda disappointed with Eredin.
Pure Adrenaline Rush!
Michael Stark I killed you
Blood and wine is my favourite dlc of any game ever because of Dettlaff.

Such an epic boss
Am I the only one who felt right with this boss battle? I felt from the first time Detlaff and Geralt fought that this was inevitable. Even moreso after he set the vampires on the city. The clash of the titans, Geralt and Detlaff. I dunno it just felt like the resolution I was thinking of since the story started.
Not just you, perfect ending
dettlaf was a fucking bastard there was nothing to pardon him
Sir Greggins de Florida I did feel inevitable. That doesn't mean it felt good. Dettlaff was a tragedy from start to finish.
Imagine possessing such powers and still be an emotional weakling who is easily manipulated. Man, this world is strange.
This is one of the best boss fights I've experience, it truly lived up to it's build up
In terms of visuals sure but i have to say witcher 3 really did not have that good boss fights. If detlaff is the best in the game that just shows that cdpr focused more on other areas in devoloping the game. Doesnt matter much though because the story makes the game worth playing 10 timer over. Nothing is perfect
Dettlaff got done dirty. I mean, no excuse for a city-destroying tantrum, but holy crap I would have stabbed Syanna myself for what she made him do.
Therefore, please excuse any grammatical,
/vocabulary/spelling errors should there be any. Such mistakes are inevitable as at the time of writing this analysis.
Whew, with that out of the way. Let’s begin:
Geralt of Rivia has shown some incredible feats during the game.
Geralt & Regis have been friends for around 10-15 years and they are basically as basically as close as Geralt & Jaskier, but Regis & Detlaff go back hundreds of years, this was an epic struggle far beyond even Geralt's depth.
well detlaff isn't even just any higher vampire. I believe he is the strongest one we know, don't know about the books tho
Hundreds of years? I thought Regis and Dettlaff met when Dettlaff resurrected Regis.
Dettlaff deserved better imo, he was treated like an animal throughout his life, then betrayed by syanna, and it made him insanely unstable over time. I really wish things had gone better for him :'(
@Jimi T. Vampire's aren't like that they live longer lives with different perspectives
i mean, he didn't exactly have the best way of coping with things but i love him nonetheless
the soundtrack of the witcher what made this game even more perfect. I never saw a game with such an amazing soundtrack.
One simp to rule them all,
One simp to find them,
One simp to bring them all
and in the darkness bind them.
That was funny but Detlaff ain't no simp man; he tries to murder that bitch or does depending on the ribbon.
First time I saw Dettlaff, my first thought was "Jeremy Irons!"
THE hardest boss in the game!
The ofieri mage:
Am I a joke to you?
Really feels like a Dark Souls soundtrack...which only makes it better!
Long Johnson and it felt like a dark souls boss fight
Dark souls is a pile of unplayable crap with poor music nothing in comparison to the Witcher.
If you acknowledge any gods, start praying now.
AffirmingToe No truer words were ever said.
What the fuck you think i'm doing you goddamn bat!?
Damnit Dettlaff, why'd you make me kill you? We could've accomplished so much together.
it's kinda crap you don't get anything off him like his coat or something
Lelouch Strife yeah I really wanted his coat or a Dettlaff trophy to hang from Roach
Doubt Regis would allow it lol
MrWhitey998 lol can just imagine Geralt about to juggle his knife to cut the head off and Regis be like "DUDE WTF?! Dont do that he be ma friuend!"
Darkavenger_13 I would like to
Geralt of fucking Rivia “Geralt Immediatly stop cutting my friends head off Or I’ll have to verbally assault you!”
This song can make any final boss battle from any game more impactful and amazing.
"And what could a monster possibly have to say to a witcher?"
"He may wish to apologize."
No matter how many times I had to restart this fight, I never got tired. I kept a save file to replay it.
😎😎🔥
Just heard a guitar cover of this song in Cyberpunk 2077. Caught me offguard
which?
I would have felt sorry for him, if he didn't have an anger issue and caused chaos and killed so many innocent people, just because he felt betrayed.
you could see geralt was trying his hardest to avoid fighting this guy.they are like gods, geralt just mere mortal. he redeeming grace that he not just any mortal. he is a badass, accomplishes the impossible. A legend
Something I haven't seen anyone draw to attention is the emotion in this soundtrack: the wild rage, the fear of a f*cking vampire in berserker mode, the grief of that vampire that aflamed his rage, and still... The theme of a hunter. A hunter of monsters, just another contract
Really, Dettlaff looks more like the Regis i imagined from the books, Except happier.
I imagined Regis a little like the higher vampire from the "carnal sins" quest.
Yeah Regis looked way different in my mind, too. But in the end I think CDPR did Regis justice :)
Gandalf for President
true
ikr
In my mind, i think I imagined Regis a bit shorter than it was in TW3, with sort of a permanent grin and of course, long hair.
But when I saw Regis' picture before playing BaW, I absolutely loved what CDPR did with him, they absolutely nailed him.
Although this boss oneshot me on deatmarch I loved the fight. This is what a vampire should be instead of sparkling in the sunlight
*My sister puts on vampire outfit on Hellowen*
-Hey brother, do i look like a real vampire?
*Me catches flashbacks about Detlaff*
-No sister, you aren't
Man, CDPR are masters of writing interesting characters. I mean every character from BaW has things that you can like about them as well as things that make them equally bad. There is, truly, no black and white.
CDPR wrote none of these characters lmao
@@ExySmexy Lol wut, this video is literally about detlaff who is a game only character.
@@karthikkumar6861 wait what.... Damn I didn't know
Super epic theme and boss fight as well.
All that could be done now was put him out of his misery
it depends on who you mean/who it is
I just finished Blood and Wine and I needed to come back for this song. The drums get me everytime. If my song didn't sound like this if I was a final boss, I dont want it.
Ironically, Detlaff was far more human than syanna ever was.
This is truly an epic song.
poor Dettlaff... :(
Lied to by a bitch and geralt had to kill because of her
The saddest thing is u have to kill him in order to get the good ending
+Joshua Mentore His actions were understandable for a while until he followed through with his promise by attempting to destroy beauclair. Hundreds or thousands of innocents there
Yes but he was also betrayed by Syanna. He lived without hurting anyone until she appeared .. I do not like her. :(
+Tinani so fucking tru, but Regis must be in pain killing the guy that saved his life
Please make more awesome witcher content, i'll buy it! i'll buy it all!!!
If you acknowledge any gods please do more dlcs
If you acknowledge any Gods, pre-order Cyberpunk when it's available.

Me : Yo Gaunter'Odimm , this kid wanna fight me
Dem drums!!
"I only wanted the lass! You tricked me both!"
"Didn't plan any of it"
"SILENCE!"
"I just wanted the lass ! You tricked me, both of you !!"
"Didn't plan any of it"
"SILENCE !!!"
The Beast of Beauclair vs the Butcher of Blaviken.
(Gets constantly hit by bats and reducing health to bare minimum even with Quen on and is also running out of potions)
*This is fine.*
I got one shotted by the bats even though I had the mastercrafted Ursine armor. haha
The Supreme GentleVampire and his beta uprising.
the final boss we deserved.
You know you are fucked up when the boss's theme is not some alternate version of Geralt's theme.
"i found out that my girlfriend just used me hmm what should i do oh right let's let a horde of vampires to the city yeah that's a good idea"
@Jimi T.
He wanted Syanna. Anna was protecting her. It's pretty obvious what would happen.
0 regret killing him
Ah yes, the girlfriend that manipulated me to kill people for her
RRRAAAAAUUUUUUUGGGGHHHH!!! If you acknowledge any gods, start praying now!
Translation: Raping time
This was the perfect fight to the end of the DLC
i must appreciate CDPR for giving such looks to higher vampires , both regis and detlaff looks really good when they transformed into vampires
