I love how they explain leshens being so much stupidly stronger in MHW than in Witcher because of how much more rich the forest is in MH than it is where they're normally from.
It's the little details. *Also the fact that no one in MHW gets the idea to use silver weapons against it, nor does Geralt think to share that little tidbit in the first place, thanks Gerry.*
Good thing we got silver rathalos equipment now so we may properly deal with it.

@@gondeazidws6051 Haven't played so couldn't say if I would like it or not. I know its a long shot, but I'd be very interested to see what they would pick for a dark souls crossover.
Ds1: Maybe a Manus or Seath Raid boss.
Ds2: A fight with Ds2's Sihn the Slumbering dragon (raid), or Dark Lurker (tempered/advanced version would be raid boss).
Ds3: Or perhaps 3's Nameless King (advanced/tempered version would be raid) or demon prince (raid).
In Witcher 3, he's a strong foe, but nothing that is too overtly problematic if you've been working upward.
In MHWorld, Behemoth looks under his bed for Ancient Leshen every night.
I think your forgetting that capcom cut most of a behemoths abilities with the introduction of it so it wouldn't be too unfair. Behemoths are friggin terrifying. Not only can they summon a gigantic meteor but they also have wide arsenal of magic at their disposal as well as the ability of bipedal combat with weapons. And the fact that behemoths are immune to most types of magic to boot.

Technically hunter weapons normally doesn't work on Leshen, but Behemoth doesn't have such immunity.

A trial for the right to exist in its domain. The Leshen had been here first. Was this Leshen the oldest of its kind? Perhaps the oldest being to inhabit this world? Geralt observed a fir, twenty meters tall, at the least. Surely the Leshen was older than this tree. Three crows, two black and one pale as snow perched in its branches. The pale one seemed to meet Geralt’s eye and emitted a call, totally unlike that of a crow. Was it a warning? A challenge? A greeting? Geralt understood. This forest wasn’t the Leshen’s domain or territory, the forest was its garden. The trees it’s children. This Leshen would not die today, nor in a hundred hundred of years. Geralt closed his eyes and lowered his head, in respect and in acceptance of the Leshen’s will. Before he could open them, the sound of baying wolves split the forest’s eerie silence. The Leshen’s terms accepted, the trial had begun. Geralt drew steel rather than silver, and began the dance.

@@Idmtbh124 I find it especially clear when in Kaer Morhen quest where you go with Lambert and meet trolls, Lambert is surprised when Geralt suggest peaceful option. ,,We are witchers, duh, we kill monsters". Nope, you are a judge first, executioner later; if monster is not dangerous, then you should explore peaceful options for coexistence to happen. In whole playthrough I didn't spared only Morkvarg, because in his case it was obvious he would go back to murdering and killing people left and right, he understood nothing.
@@exquisitecanineaficionado This right here. It goes to show that Lambert isn't really that good of a witcher, as if his personality and attitude towards everyone else wasn't enough to show that. Witchers are suppose to be calm, collective, and neutral. They do not always kill first, especially when it comes to monsters that are sentient enough to reason and communicate.

@@the_furry_inside_your_walls639 lambert exposes himself on the path with geralt. He rather had a life he chose, be it as miserable as it could be but being a witcher solved nothing dor him. In the end he comes together with that sorceress so happy end probably. In any way he lost his protegee, someone he cated about, he killed his father who abused and violated him. His character is totally plausible. Loyal but cruel and unforgiving.

Not gonna lie, my first encounter with a Leshen in Witcher 3 was at level 10, trying to do the Griffin School treasure hunt. I saw random roots shoot out of the ground and was like “okay, weird”. Then I go into the grotto and a Leshen teleported in and cornered me lol

I have never played MHW, but sll these comments saying how incredibly difficult the Leshens were in it makes me incredibly happy. They were one of the few monsters i was disappointed weren't super powerful in W3, so seeing how they did these badass creatures right in a different universe does my heart good.

@Cussundria Kneal You wont believe from 100party with HR 100(level) players only 1 party that can complete the quest (on my experience) i only done this quest once ,
FYI acient leshen in MHW got 65K HP+ while players one hit only deal 30-100 damage (more if u use Great sword) and it can Teleport then do 1 Hit Kill with root while u will fail the quest when ur party Dead 3 times
Yeah, Ancient Leshen was like your ultimate challenge in high rank Monster Hunter. Hell, it still hits hard even when you're wearing master rank armor XD

The Leshen's are probably some of my favorite monsters in the Witcher series, if not of every kind of media. They just emit mystery and power, just one look and you can tell these creatures are older than most things, they've been there, seen it and survived it. It usually feels like such a shame having to kill them, so if it can be avoided i always try to spare them.
Indeed,they have always been one of my favourite monster overall,but oh how i love a gopd fight against these almost godly creatures!
I feel like my favorite kind of Leshens that started out as Windego’s like the ones in the DnD universe. Not only to they control a large section of wildlife, but their also able to manipulate it in order to catch and devour humans and non-humans in large masses. These Windegos are also the most sentient, making them increasingly terrifying.
Well, leshens use to be evil and selfish creatures so you'd rather rethink about sparing their lives

Agreed. I always let the Woodland Spirit live just because of how much I like Leshens. I think some of their mystique stems from the fact that they’re based on real world mythology.

Having finally fought Ancient Leshen in MHW, I don’t think I can ever replay the Woodland Spirit contract in Witcher 3 without having PTSD again.

Witcher 3 version: Hard boss, nothing to overcomplicated if you know what you're doing. Pretty fun fight with good music to boot.
MHWorld version: Extreme Behemoth, Arch Tempered Kulve Taroth, and Arch Tempered Xeno'jiiva check their closets, beds, and dressers for one of these.
Honestly ancient Leshen is not as hard as extremoth purely because there's no ecliptic meteor.
Took me 3 tries with randoms. over 50 attempts for extremoth and still not done yet.

nah ancient leshen is more annoying than hard. My only complaint is that it's root attack animations are so similar to each other that it's hard to distinguish whether it an aoe or not before it's too late.

This is a The Witcher 3 song, but almost everybody remember it for another reason
The Witcher 3 crossover event for MHW used a number of tracks from the Witcher 3. The Trail was used for the normal Leshen hunt, both while you're playing as Geralt and when you play as your hunter.

@@EdgyZiggy Haven't played in a while, but I believe at pretty high hunter rank is becomes a 9 star quest you can play as the hunter with 3 friends. V e r y hard

Yeah, I think that's the Ancient Leshen. It's an event quest. Leshen and Ancient Leshen are classified as separate monsters. You can only fight Leshen as Geralt
Well you can also hear a little bit of the small arena theme from Freedom Unite in it. Never played the Witcher 3, but I know where part of the theme comes from. And I'm here for it. Hell, it even plays during the fight with King Gajalaka, fittingly.

I loved Leshen as a monster in MHW at the beginning... Until Ancient Leshen came out and turned out to be the new Behemoth Extreme.
Actually to me it's just around regular behemoth's level IMO. It was hard but I'll always view behemoth as the hardest monster.

As a MHW player this track fits his MHW fight perfectly - gives the feeling that you’re fighting something extremely dangerous and otherworldly. 🔥 💀 🔥

Well at least it didn’t mark anyone at the village cause you wouldn’t have killed it properly cause it will just come back. Yes it mastered the power of marking and if someone gets marked you may have to kill or banish them.
@@teresa-mh9tw maybe in the forest parts of the Guiding Lands? Then it could posibly have the option to call upon Shamos or maybe even Girros and Wulg as well as Jagras for aid.

For most people this song means a dance with an Ancient Leshen. But for me it means an epic duel with the "Dragon" Forktail of Fyresdal who could effortlessly two shot me and +20% dmg heavy attacks did slivers of damage. The contract was lvl.26 and I just hit lvl.22 BUT wearing overall lvl.12 medium armor with a lvl.8 sword at 0% durability (I'm very stubborn sometimes) no alchemy of any kind either. Just a bunch of alcohol (I like the effect) and faith in quen! To top it off there was a storm with rain and light fog. All combined with this song truly was an unforgettable experience ⚔️🐉

Leshens are cool monsters. Theres two contracts on them, one in Velen and one in Skellige if you want to see them. They can also be found randomly in forests

@@alextronic4503 I remember I was hunting this Griffin gear in that abandoned tower and a leshen teleports and surprises me while I am in that cave of noxious gases before the vampire.
Not only it was way higher in level than me but I also had to be careful not to choke or explode to death.

i was in the dragon slayer's grotto searching for the Griffon gear and as im oiling my silver and poping a dose of Cat to fight the Ekimmara, a fucking level 20 leshen roars behind me and im freaking the hell out cuz this thing is 9 levels higher then me then fucking dies of poisoning cuz its stuck in the poison gas. after that i walked out of that cave with a leshen mutagen and griffon diagrams.
i was one happy Witcher.

Well, yess, we are the problem. Leshens are essentially gods of their respective forests, so I would think they do not like their homes and shrines destroyed by humans.

Now imagine if that leshen near Novigrad grew old as well and marked someone from the city. You'd have to purge harder than the eternal fire priests in order to kill it.
The eternal fire's belief, eskewed and fanatical as it might be in its current form, do come from the real danger of monsters in the Witcher's world. The witchers and its many schools would not have been needed if the world as it is is not that dangerous - and seeing how necrophages and Hags will literally enter homes to steal children while real ghostly entities will kill anyone who enter their forests and one will see why Geralts ilk and extreme beliefs are needed to exist in such a world.

To this day, I still don’t quite know if killing it was the right thing to do considering the stances of the parties in the mission, and that to me is fantastic storytelling. Giving you the option, laying out facts, and letting you decide, for better or worse, it’s what the Witcher 3 does remarkably well to me, that so many of these side stories still stick with me so vividly.
As for its appearance in Monster Hunter, I’m still seeking therapy to this day.

The witcher 3 is an eternal game, a timeless masterpiece from history to graphics to music (I still remember the soundtrack of skellige, not to mention that of novigrad or velen, they are all masterful pieces). in this game everything is close to perfection (apart from the Combat system, which I really appreciated). I mean, I finished this game a few weeks ago (including all the dlc's) and I am constantly homesick for skellige, for Toussaint .... the witcher 3 has been an epic journey, which I will never forget.

When I listen to this music, when I exercise, my breathing sounds like hoo. hoo. hoo.
The intro really remind me of "Cutthroat Terror on the High sea". Well it's fitting though cause that is pirate game and Skellige is a land of raider, Viking and Pirate.

Well... Skelliges inhabitants pretty much are Vikings.
I'd've loved if they implemented another monster or two from the Witcher world into this game, imagine if the likes of a Fiend or a Basilisk made it's way in.
I'd love it if the Witcher world took in a MHW creature as well, I can imagine the fun Geralt would have hunting a Rathalos or Odagaron.

Interesting thing here:
The violin parts are not only present in the Witcher 3: Wild Hunt or Monster Hunter: World but also in Monster Hunter Freedom Unite small arena theme as well. Play this theme at 1.25 speed, it’ll match the small arena theme. Vice versa if you play the small arena theme at 0.75 speed to match this be as well.
At this point I’m expecting a remix
I played the track at both speed and i have to say 0,75 is not so much of my like, but It has his own good touch, and 1,25...

Despite having played Witcher 3, fighting him in MHW makes me think, gee Geralt, how the hell do you even do this by yourself?
That's the difference between a genetically modified human specialized in hunting monsters and an adventure, i guess. XD
Funnily enough, humans in MH are actually pretty genetically enhanced too, being descended from basically ancient super soldiers. This is why they can lift such heavy things with ease and survive extremely deadly attacks, like Nerg's Shrapnel. Granted, the Armour staves off most of the damage but if a normal human was put in that Situation, no amount of Armour would save them. But other than their Strength and increased durability, they're nowhere near Witcher Level. Magical Signs, Increased Toxicity Resistance which allows the consumption of potions that would normally destroy a normal person's body, years of rigorous and sometimes brutal training and an extended lifespan. I guess it all boils down to the Magical Aspect of things and which side has more advanced technology.
@@thewhompingwampa2671 Don't forget though, while it is possible to solo this fight in MH, it's clearly not designed with solo in mind. This is supposed to be a monster so fierce, it takes an entire group of hunters to take it down, where in The Witcher, Geralt's enhancements make it so he can solo it, at great risk even still. But I agree, even Great Jagras would require a Witcher in The Witcher game. But our Hunters are on another level from those regular people in that universe.

I think during the fight against regular Leshen, Geralt comments on the Leshen being unusually powerful, and theorizes that it could be because the Ancient Forest is absolutely abundant with greenery (and potentially the energy of the Everstream flowing through it). Considering this, the Ancient Leshen might've been so powerful it'd make sense if it can floor hunters easily, possibly even Geralt had he stuck around to see it.

I am sure he did not say its a 'good' spirit but more like a guardian and protector. Protector in a sense that it guards the dark forest part where the A. leshen rules, thus preventing pirate raid to pass through the woods, and a guardian in a sense that it guides the villagers to become better hunters and fighters by being guile and smart.

I remember wandering in the forest in Velen and suddenly i saw a leshen in front of me it was so fuckin scary and my level was low so i had to run i tried to go back to fight him when my level became higher but i didn’t find him:(
There are 2 wandering leshens in velen. Might even be the same dunno. 1 is close to the village where you can meet leto. The other is at the dragon cave where griffin set is hidden. That one got me good the first time i explored that area. First i saw a slender shape disappearing right behind a tree in the distance. I walked there slowly but could not see any thing. Then i turned the camera and he used his root attack right beside me. I was scared and died since i was lvl 8 and he is lvl 20 or so. Most amazing monster, unfortunately very harmless once you know its patterns.
I went to him first i was at lvl 16 and he was 25 , i went to him again when i reached 27 and it was like “how do you like that sliver?”
