  • UCS Turbo tank anyone? No, I don't think so... and it absolutely isn't because of prequel hate (though that's probably part of it).
    The MOC in the thumbnail is made by Juggernaut Bricks.

    honestly I see those technic turntables (in assistance with more technic support) to be more than enough to hold up the juggernaut? like I dont get it? ok like look at it like this: it isnt ONE of these wheels holding everything up on its own. its 10 wheels, spread out evenly to support a body that would mostly be a hollow shell held together by interweaving beams. like I really don't think it would even be heavy enough to collapse it?

    • @tHEshAMOT
      @tHEshAMOT 7 місяців тому +2

      Mechanical components like these turntables are not suited for a lot of fast rotation as would be in wheels. It would wear down fast. These are good for occasional turning. But I can imagine Lego could pull off some kind of bearing to support large vehicles. Or maybe something like 92908 part could be used here.

    • @jaylinnell5251
      @jaylinnell5251 6 місяців тому +1

      I've built a MOC of the Mobile Lab from The Lost World: Jurassic Park, and the weight would surprise you.
      I've also built mock up "Firearms" out of Lego, too, and they are about as heavy as you would expect of real firearms of the same size.
      Let me put it this way: The more pieces you have, the heavier the item is. The heavier the item is, the more stress is put on the axels/other support pieces, particularly if you're making a wheeled or tracked vehicle. The more stress on the axels and supports, the more likely they are to break or otherwise fail, sometimes resulting in something aerospace engineers refer to as "Rapid Unscheduled Disassembly".
      Parts of any material have specific maximum tolerances they cannot safely exceed, and if those tolerances are exceeded, there is a high likelihood of the part breaking. There are no exceptions to this rule. Guns detonate if the chamber pressure is too high. Electronics short out if their power supply is being overloaded. I could go on, but I really don't feel like it. And I'm tired, so I can't think of any more examples at the moment, anyway.
      My point is this: The turntable part you pointed out was designed with specific tolerances it can perform within. Taking something that would likely weigh multiple pounds/kilograms and placing the weight on even 10 of those things would likely break the pieces, or at the very least put so much stress on them that they wouldn't last too long. Plus they're not meant for prolonged constant turning, which is the whole point of wheels anyway.

  • @Froggsroxx
    @Froggsroxx 6 місяців тому +2

    All I can think about is that the axels of the juggernaut would absolutely get ruined by any terrain because they are both fully exposed in the front and also reach down to the bottom of the wheels, which completely negates the point of an all terrain style wheeled vehicle 4:26

  • @TheLightLOD
    @TheLightLOD 7 місяців тому +3

    I'm pretty sure Lego could figure out a way to do the axles, just abuse the holes in Lego Technic gears to link multiple axles together. Then use the big turntable as a bearing.
    The bigger problem will be the combination of number of pieces and size. Sure things like the Eiffeltower and the Titanic are large, but they are large in 1 direction. The Titanic can easily be split into smaller pieces, as can the Eiffel tower. For the Turbo Tank that becomes more difficult, with having a roughly 50 inch long and I'd guess 20 inch wide size.
    I guess the biggest problem will be matching pieces. The wheels alone would need to be new moulds as there are no 8-10 inch diameter Lego wheels. Moulds don't come cheap, so they would heavily increase the price of the kit. Assuming Lego would be willing to go through the lengths to create such a kit with all required new pieces added, then still I'm imagining a Lego set in the $2000 USD direction that not many would (be able to) buy.

  • @verios44
    @verios44 7 місяців тому +4

    If you look at some really big technic sets like the D11 bulldozer, 9800 excavator, 13000 crane, etc they are all pretty heavy and can hold their weight.
    Heck the UCS ATAT is practiclly a technic set with a skin of system pieces on it. I do think a UCS juggernaught is possible but more on the midi scale. No bigger than the gunship.
    Also if Lego simply used some strategic use of steel compatible technic axles and gears it might make all the difference.

    lego has been known to make sets that are just for display. the idea of lego is that you can rebuild and reshape your set with everything you have, but in the ucs atat there are some parts that can not be taken apart. thus it would make sense to target the adults who are the primary custemors of lego these days, and get one set out that cannont drive, but is for display only and looks cool. either way the idea is very good for another ucs set. • @nesyboi9421
    @nesyboi9421 5 місяців тому

    I feel like they still probably could do it smaller, and have it still be sturdy enough. The thing has what how many wheels? 10 total? That distributes the weight across at least 5 axles, meaning each individual axle is holding up a lot less weight than if it were just one. You could go overkill and do 10 different axles and have them not connect in the center and spread out even more. I think Lego hasn't designed one yet simply because they just haven't gotten to it, and have been working on other projects, as opposed to the idea they couldn't do it with current pieces.
    *To sum all of that up: Having so many wheels would probably distribute the weight up enough for it not to matter, Lego just probably hasn't gotten around to designing one yet because of other sets they are designing.*

Honestly don't know how it made it past qualoty control. The lower half of the suspension where it connects to the wheel literally go PAST the wheels and dig into the ground. Liike, I'm barely a mechanic, but even I know that if you suspension is what's touching the ground, and not the wheels, then not only will you vehicle have horrible ground clearance, but it also literally won't be able to move... at all.

    Quadruple the size can be less parts. You just use large pieces and leave sections of the internals empty. Steel axles or larger abs axles could work. The problem are displayability, who has space for that, and even more so, despite what you might say, the biggest issue is hate for the prequels. Sort the Lego Star Wars sets by piece count and almost all come from the original trilogy. Prequels are more niche.

    The juggernaut is kinda weird with scaling anyway, since throughout Star Wars media its size varies by a factor of 2. Just looking at the Battle of Felucia from the clone wars, it appears to be barely taller than an At-Te, and those are pretty well represented in scale through regular play sets.

It being in scale with the 2022 AT-TE is good enough and that wouldnt be so huge that would break the technic pieces since would likely make the super structure hollow to include play features and space to store mini figures. @@nemisous83 You have to remember that a lot of that is due to LEGO building techniques and the fact that minifigures aren’t proportionally a one-to-one with humans. LEGO has extra structural things they need to build out that aren’t in the ships in-universe and minifigures are way thicker than people actually are-I’ve heard that proportionally, a LEGO figure is about the same as a 600 pound man. So yes, it cannot fit the same amount of troops, but that’s because it’s LEGO, not the scale.

Choosing big, scary things over economic, practical things is a great way to seem powerful for a little while and then come crashing down. • @jamesalphonse1099

      @@crazydog1750 people will make any excuse for this horrendous movies. How is the story amazing? Palpatine wanted to get senate to hold a vote of no confidence in episode 1 so he could become the new chancellor, but he directs the alien dudes to 1) kill the Jedi and destroy their ship (how will they report back about the crisis?) 2) establish a comm blackout on naboo (how will they reach the Senate about their crisis?) And finally 3) have the queen sign the treaty to make the invasion legal (thus negating the need for a vote of no confidence...?) The story was written by a dumb fuck 8 year old. The original movies say Anikan was supposed to be a good dude tragically seduced by the dark side and good friend of obi wan, right? But from the moment we see adult Anakin in episode 2 the only things he does are disrespect Obi, disobey him, and generally just be an angry, amgsty murderous psychopath. We never actually see him be a good dude at all anywhere in the movies. He's just a fucking bad guy from the start. The entire Jedi council is dumb as fuck too, they're like "this boy is a grave danger to us all... Go ahead and train him up anyway." None of it makes any fucking sense whatsoever.

    • @crazydog1750
      @crazydog1750  7 місяців тому

      In a very technologically advanced galaxy with incredible communication technology, Palpatine knew that news about the invasion of Naboo wouldn't be able to be contained. He wanted the Trade Federation to get into trouble, but of course, he wouldn't want the TF to know that. So he "helped" them get try to get an info blackout going and assured them that he could make the invasion legal so that they wouldn't get in trouble. He used them, you gotta understand that what Palpatine tells his minions isn't always gonna be the truth.
      And, as a matter of fact, we do see Anakin doing good things throughout the movies (he volunteers his skills to help strangers get off Tatooine, he is unable to sit by and do nothing when several destroyer droids ambush his friends and jumps into action, he tries to save his mother, he marches into a droid factory in a desperate attempt to save Obi-Wan, he saves Obi-Wan from being left for dead on the Invisible Hand, he wants with all his heart to save Padmé), with his darker side sprinkled in (slowly getting more intense as it goes on). If Anakin was 100% good and absolutely zero bad from the start, how would it make sense for him to become Darth Vader? You gotta show him making bad choices-but just because someone makes bad choices doesn't mean that there are absolutely no good qualities to be found.
      And, yes, the Jedi Council was idiotic, but that's kinda the point... they became so engrossed in dogma that they lost sight of emotional intelligence and said "Well, if he's the answer to this prophecy then maybe we gotta trust it." They were just so focused on rules and government and internal power structures they had almost become villains in and of themselves.

    UCS in my eyes is for static display with minimal moving parts or some interactive parts. The whole move ability of the legs for the ATAT is to change poses which makes sense. Having the wheels not move on the turbo tank wouldn’t really be a big deal.
    Also to note many of the UCS sets are not scaled correctly. Not by minifig or 3 stud scale but by their actual dimensions. The UCS LAAT is a prime example that the troop compartment is far larger than it should be when compared with the cockpit or vise versa.
