  • BUY, LEASE OR FINANCE A CITROEN C5 AIRCROSS FROM OSV - bit.ly/3qGYwh1
    Citroen's C5 Aircross is, according to its maker, 'the most comfortable SUV on the market'. Quite a claim, given that this isn't a large, luxury crossover but is targeted at family buyers currently considering volume mid-sized models in this class like Nissan's Qashqai and SEAT's Ateca. This revised version gets a more assertive look and higher equipment levels, plus its smarter cabin is still one of the most spacious and flexible in the segment.
    The legendary Citroen 2CV had a reputation for being able to comfortably traverse a ploughed field. That apart though, this French brand can't call on much customer recognition when it comes to vehicles cable of functioning off the beaten track. That has to change, given the current European obsession with SUVs and the company is depending on its Aircross range of models to convince customers of its crossover credibility.
    The first signs in this regard have been promising for the Gallic maker. The little C3 Aircross, launched in Summer 2017, has sold well in the small supermini-derived SUV sector. This family hatch-based C5 Aircross, which arrived here in 2018, has proved to be equally important. Citroen claims that it brings 'a fresh level of overall comfort' to the segment and there's an efficient range of engines that includes a petrol plug-in Hybrid version. Here, we look at the usefully updated version of this car.

    The magic carpet ride as claimed by Citroen was not air suspension like your typical Bumpy Landrover. it was Hydronumatic suspension created by pumping Mineral oil around the suspension system and the use of Hydrogen filled suspension spheres The aircross is akin to the old Citroen Visa and it seems to cope very well with speed bumps and potholes, tyres can have an effect on this to. Tyres seem to last at least two years which is good when they cost £80 a corner. we hyave the 1.5 diesel which returns about 37mpg around town and at least 55mpg on a run which isnt to bad for such a large vechicle, the 1.5 diesel 8 speed Aut6 weighs 1400kg the 2.0 litre diesel has a higher weight and higher towing capacity.

    Great review. On the strength of this review I went and test-drove one of these and ended up buying one - the plug in variant. The review gives an accurate and realistic sense of what the car is like. Personally I love the comfort, quietness, space and decent plug in electric range. My son gets to drive a variety of SUV hire cars for his work, and says this compares well with those.

    Good comfortable car let down by by the base models 1.2 puretech engine. The puretech engine is badly designed with the wet cambelt and much too small for this size of vehicle.

      So why did it win engine of the year 3 years in a row beating vw 3 cylinder it was a defect belt was the problem not the engine?

    • @majorrgeek
      @majorrgeek Місяць тому

      @@sejautie - the puretech engine is notoriously bad as well the C5 Aircross has cheap torsion rear suspension which no matter what type of dampers still makes for a more jittery ride
