The theme of this film feels like legacy for sure. Noa to Caesar, Mae to humanity. Even Mae calling out Noa is such a good parallel to when Caesar first spoke.
There's just something about the recent ape films that feel like novels brought to the screen. I know the classic film(s) was an adaptation from a book, but man.... I don't know how to put into words how much this latest movie in particular feels like it came from a great classic novel. It feels like something I would have read in my childhood; an epic tale of survival, struggle, discovery, cooperation, betrayal, and hope. This movie is just a perfect example of the hero's journey. It's amazing how they immediately got me attached to a whole new set of characters after watching and LOVING the previous 3 stories. This might be one of my favourite films now. Thank you for reacting!
It feels like a high fantasy story. The Eagle Clan are the humble Shire-folk, while the Humans are almost like fallen elves. The speaking Humans we meet have technology that seems alien and magical to this world. Proximus' Masks are the evil warlord who has a court wizard (Trevathan). Raka as the wise mentor of an order of mystics like a Gandalf or Obi-Wan. You could reskin this whole movie as a Tolkien-esque fantasy and it would work 100%.
Mae bringing gun with her meeting with Noa, just proving humans will never live together with apes. She thought he was gonna kill her because that's what she would do if she was on his place.
I became a Planet of the Apes fan due to the first trilogy! Rise, Dawn, and War are among my favorite movies ever! And this actually isn't the final film! The producers said that if this movie did well critically and financially (which it did), then they would make two more films after Kingdom. And if the current trilogy succeeds, then they'll make a 3rd and final trilogy for the Planet of the Apes!
@@piusdoe8984Kingdom did do well it made more than War did and the next film is already being discussed . The director said in an interview recently that they were going to continue with Noa and Mae and that there are 6 movies in the pipeline
@alisonscott1469 How does this comment have any likes....Kingdom did nowhere close to War....War made over 100 million more at the box office...Kingdom barely broke even. It's did not do well. Maybe you should actually look at up before pretending and making sh!t up...
Yeah, definitely not the final movie, lol. Apparently Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes is gonna be a trilogy of films (probably focusing on the emergence of intelligent humans and a tentative cohabitation), while Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver (the writers of Rise and Dawn) have claimed they'd like to do another trilogy (my best guess being around the breakdown of peace and a return to chaos for apes and humans, except worse; I mean these all sorta tie back to the original five films somewhat in terms of theme and a breakdown in peace would make sense to close out the series) - bringing the total of modern Apes films to nine. So potentially five more films to go. Not that I have any complaints. Literally every movie has been absolutely phenomenal.
loved this movie. Noa is such a fabulous spiritual successor to Caesar. and the story is getting more mythic too, it makes going back and watching the first trilogy feel like history is being made.
I was NOT expecting the prologue with the OG’s, I miss them. Maurice, Rocket, Bad Ape. I kinda wish they’d been able to do a Nova cameo with old footage or something (since the actress obv grew up)
Fun fact from another anime I watched, Zebras are actually donkeys. The tail is what gives it away, horses have full hair tails and donkeys only have hair on the tip of their tails
Crazy good movie , it def sounds like Proximus Caesar mixed Caesar's teachings with Julius Caesar's wordings and became a dictator , it's probably why he's wearing a crown
For you and me, and the other six people who saw the REAL first movie and now are seeing this new franquise. The music when they arrived to the bridge, the crosses with bodies, the hunt of the humans, Mae speaking for the first time and shocking the apes, the ride in the beach with the remains of ancient human civilization, the same doll saying "¡Mama!"...there are many eastern eggs in this movie.
I love how this movie uses several different callbacks to the original movie. The beach, the scarecrows and soundtrack during the bridge scene, and the iconic shots of gorillas on horseback hunting humans in loin cloths.
They did say this was going to be the beginning of a new trilogy, but unfortunately I haven’t heard much people talking about this movie. I like this movie a lot so I hope we get more of it.
@@IAmKyndle They did the same thing at the end of Dawn of the Planet of the Apes. You could hear Koba breathing at the end of the credits. It meant nothing lol

Whoever directed the live action Lion King could learn a lot from the directors of these movies. The apes in this movie actually show emotions, while still looking realistic.
I’m guessing a cut version of the end credit scene was suppose to be Noa spotting the Icarus re-entry to Earth. They were at the observatory with a telescope looking at the starry sky, it is way to convenient of a scene setup to not be that.

I get that it's not exactly a "Normie" movie but please all reconsider watching the original Planet of the Apes movie. It provides a lot of context for these new movies.
I read years back the opening to this was Maurice teaching humans and apes in a classroom setting about Caesar. Then it would've gone into this story. i think originally Eagle clan were Caesar's descendants
6:08 Anaya’s reaction 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 For those who didn’t know, Anaya’s the name of the male ape who fell back, and Soona’s the name of the female ape next to him
I saw this movie in cinema a few days ago and i really like it, same with the trilogy. I was shocked how good this picked up from the last one but also established new things and evolves upon the themes of the trilogy.
They are going to worship the ALZ retrovirus instead and in this movie's deleted scenes we learn that they Noa and Mae were looking at some unnatural object in space through the telescope 🔭 which is why we see Noa and Mae both looking at the sky in their respective locations at the end. Now it could either be The Icarus or it could be space station where the rich and affluent went to escape and have been bioengineering themselves since becoming the feared mutants in this franchise. Whatever it is something is coming from the sky in the next installment given that ending
The thing with the Planet of the Apes franchise is that there's kind of endless potential for storytelling, without the need to rely on the audience seeing other installments. For instance, this movie works on its own. Yeah, you get more context if you saw the original series, but a lot of that context has been lost and reshaped to the people living in this time anyway. All you really need to know is that a virus made apes smart and killed most of the humans, and the story stands on its own otherwise. So if this franchise really did become sprawling, as long as they had good writing and directing, and weren't afraid to tell novel stories that don't rely on previous installments, then there's really no downside. Personally, I would love to see a story of a society of apes in the African jungle. The virus easily would have spread to them, but they wouldn't have any knowledge of it or of the world at large. And you could tell a story about them making first contact with some human tribe or something.

What a wonderful day for a reaction to Kingdom of the planet of the apes and part one of a new trilogy. This is not the end normies there are 5-6 more movies in the pipeline for this franchise and i can’t wait to see what happens next. I love this movie just as much as Rise, Dawn, War. Noa is a great protagonist he’s not at Caesars league just yet but i’m sure he’ll get there. I saw this twice at the cinema in Scotland when it came out and watched it again and again when it came out on streaming. I’ve already ordered my dvd of it too. This film made my cry at the beginning because it was so unexpected and the audience felt like part of the family saying their goodbyes. The last movie i cried at and still do is War for the planet of the apes and losing Caesar. Other characters i love in this movie were Noa, Anaya, Soona, Raka. Proximus was great but i found the big gorilla henchman Silva more intimidating. Mae i don’t like, she’s shady, trying to drown the eagle clan and having a gun hidden behind her back when saying goodbye to Noa. Humans suck. I’m sure you’ll enjoy the movie and look forward to your reaction to Kingdom and what the next part of this ape trilogy is going to be called. There were two endings for Kingdom the first one was Mae shooting Noa after he gave he Caesars window symbol but it was dropped and the one they went for was with Mae hiding the gun behind her back according to an interview with Wes Ball. I can’t wait for the second film in this new trilogy hopefully we get to see Noa, Raka, Anaya and Sonna again i love them just as much as Caesar, Rocket, Maurice, Blue Eyes, Cornelius etc
I'm glad that they went with this one. It wouldn't make sense for her to shoot him after giving her the necklace showing he holds no hostility towards her.

This is a start to a great trilogy, I hope. The original apes movies always ended quite.. disastrously. But those were just the product of the times. The trilogy with Caesar was a great Humans vs Apes scenario, but I want to see Humans and Apes come together.

This is a start to a great trilogy, I hope. The original apes movies always ended quite.. disastrously. But those were just the product of the times.
The trilogy with Caesar was a great Humans vs Apes scenario, but I want to see Humans and Apes come together.
Just watched it today came here right afterwards 😂.
