- KPM Main Series has hit the 1000th album and to celebrate, we have brought together a handful of legendary and much-loved composers from the original KPM 1000 Series of the 70s to collaborate on a new album.
Produced by Peter Cox and recorded in London with an incredible big band, it features a collection of newly composed classics by the likes of Keith Mansfield, Alan Parker, Alan Hawkshaw, James Clarke, Brian Bennett and John Cameron.

All KPM music should be available to the public via CDs, iTunes and other streaming services. These guys recorded amazing jaw-dropping music. I'm particularly fond of their music of the '60s and '70s. Thank you.
Most of it actually is available on Spotify, but the albums are listed under the composers and not KPM except for the album titles.
I discovered Hawkshaw by shazaming a song used in a 1971 CBS special report on the problems of urban traffic and automobile safety. The song was "Drive On".
I loved their music for all my life without knowing who the hell composed them .. i knew the names and KPM only a year ago … i am 40 years old 😅

my favorite kpm songs are “music to drive by”, “scotch broth”, and “in a bossa mood”
I'm Generation X so my childhood was late 1970s and early 1980s. This was the music of my childhood- the themes to dramas, comedies, action/crime/adventure, horror, cartoons, and commercials & bumpers. These sounds were later sampled in Hip Hop music by the 1990s! These men wrote the soundtrack to my Generation's lives.
RIP Alan Hawkshaw you music legend.
Possibly some of the most underrated musicians of the 20th century, the KPM series has been incredibly important and influential to hip-hop and many sample based genres that have formed since.
Keith Mansfield summer's coming the theme song to the movie rabid. Such a beautiful and amazing song.
MF Doom has sampled so much of their work on his rap album With danger mouse.
I’m 23, from Italy. In 2017-2018 I got into what you call “sampling” or “crate digging” and came across this music. As soon as I listened to it I fell in love with the orchestration and the arrangements. You had this big lush sound conveying any kind of emotions and energy that I can’t explain. As time went on my musical taste changed and I was caught into this music to the point that I didn’t want to sample these giants anymore but I wanted to be like them. You know, sampling is easy, you just press buttons, change pitch and all that stuff but the process of ACTUALLY MAKING the music it’s on another level. See, this is what I like of this music: quality musicians who put out quality music.
I was quite pissed when I discovered that some people would refer to it as “Elevator Music” because to me it sounds kinda disrespectful. It clearly doesn’t make justice to the amount of work that there is behind to come out with these ideas.
By the way, seeing all the names I came across during these years united in one video was a “bro, no waaay” moment 😆
Industrial Sabotage and Riot by Johnny Pearson are still my favourites in 2023!!
Amazing to see that these old chaps are still going strong!
music to drive by
This is probably the only music made today that will stand the test of time. Reminds me a lot of the Seeburg background music records from many years ago.
I big highlight of my past career as a radio producer was getting my first KPM set of about a 100 CDs and there was a track for every possible single occasion, all of it parcelled into 60", 30" 15" takes with stings and stabs for jingle packages and station idents. There were other music libraries available but most of the time it was hard to beat that KPM sound. The composers were the best as were the session players.

Summer Songbirds 1973 is my top ten favorite albums by KPM 1000

Iconic!
My favorite production music catalogue and world leader, step it up and get the REAL best of the best together , to create a truly magnificent album, recorded at one of the BEST studios in the world . ANGEL studios . Massive congrats to the KPM team !
Interestingly, although celebrating almost exclusively, the work of British composers, ignores the irony that most of the original recordings were made in Brussels, Munich and, above all, Cologne, not the UK. But many UK session guys of the time were still in the lineup! No question though that KPM's inspired management carved a truly massive niche in the international market with this new approach. Well done everyone, then and now!
My greatest congratulations!🎉❤
Awesome! I remember some of their music was used for NFL films in the 70’s and 80’s. Loved it!
The kpm albums were all top notch.
