Alan Hawkshaw passes away (1937 - 2021) (UK) - BBC News - 17th October 2021

You may not recognise the name or face but chances are you will have heard his musical scores, which have been in many television programs and films for decades. He died yesterday at the age of 84 and his birthday was last March.

William Alan Hawkshaw BEM was a British composer and performer, particularly of themes for movies and television programs. Hawkshaw worked extensively for the KPM production music company in the 1950s to the 1970s, composing and recording many stock tracks that have been used extensively in film and TV.

The KPM library album "The Big Beat" from 1969 has been reissued and is available to the general public - VERY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED, it contains the Dave Allen theme "Studio 69" and a ton of other great Hammond-driven melodies that will be familiar to not only UK viewers but also some US viewers who were around n the early 70s (the American Lung Association commercial where the young kid is emulating his father - "like father, like son", then the dad lights up a cigarette..."like father... like son?" That theme is also on this album. again, VERY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED, great listening.) RIP and thanks for the music Mr Hawkshaw.
