Imo, this game has one of the best soundtracks ever.
Found u again
helllllll ya one of the best
100%
the Brain tracks introduced me to acid techno as a kid... also the Thomas Bangalter tracks!! I still listen to the genre till this very day, some quality electronic music right here!
Suits the high pace style of this game. Licensed tracks would have ruined the experience.
This was honestly my favorite Midnight Club game. In my opinion it was the most challenging with the most interesting race routes. Learning to dodge traffic and learning the best routes made every win feel like I really managed to overcome something. The characters' taunting, the high speeds, and the enemy drivers really add to the pressure. It gets really frustrating but that makes it all the more satisfying when you win.
I kind of missed the characters having voices in MC3. The taunting and chatter added personality, but also made it feel good whenever you shut them up by finally beating them.
Also, motorbikes are overpowered.
yes my favorite to best one ever
Yes 2 is the best. Great atmosphere, soundtrack by not well known artists and loved the unlicensed cars
About the motorbikes, you are 110% correct with that statement. Although i don't really like the Monsoni. The thing is way too heavy, and it has slow and bulky handling. Overall not fun to ride. The L.A. and Tokyo bikes are good though (I forgot the names).
Having grown up with electro playlist of classic NFS, the soundtrack in Midnight Club 2 is considered one of the best racing game playlists for me.
It just feels so good to drive with those trance tracks in background.
I agree. I loved the majority of Midnight Club 2's soundtrack
Los Angeles was my favorite playlist.
I FUCKING HATE ELECTRO. But for Midnight Club 2 it's PERFECT. No other soundtrack would have been able to match the high paced, adrenaline crazy style of the game. MC2 actually might be my favourite racing game of all time. I loved everything about it. Literally.
Exactly, that soundtrack is weak af, and annoying, I o, the mc3 entire atmosphere and the soundtrack (specially hip hop) are way better... Mc3 just crushes this one.
Techno-Trance\Acid-Techno is really a thing in this game, totally drive me mad and concentrated at the same time, the rush is awesome
The game got me into the trance and dark ambient genre, I adored rockstar for promoting the works of these lesser known underground composers, whoever put the list together had a very nice taste.
Brain series is my own best thing outta this game.
Hated since 1st play, but after some skips - it became my BEST IN THE ENTIRE LIFE sounds.
TB-303 POWAAAAA!!!
Still listen to "Silver Screen" to this day
same
I have the whole soundtrack in my playlist of playlists
Same!!
love that song
IN A MUSIC
Come on R* we need a new midnight club!
True. Midnight Club (especially LA) was always one of my fav racers, just because you have to start as a noob with bad cars and slowly, with effort, you would get better and better. Almost like a racer-RPG. It's hard but never really unfair, the tracks are fun... damn, just gimme a MC:LA for the PS4 with even more content. I would love it.
@@LexTakacs yup! My favourite one was Midnight club 3 dub edition remix!
Exactly
@@LexTakacs midnight club LA sucked
@@pp3k3jamail Okay, that's your opinion then. I loved it.
The soundtrack in this game is one of the huge selling point imo. It gets your adrenaline pumping like no other. Especially in a racing game as fast paced and intense as this one.
Compared to the other Midnight Club games in the series, one of the things that I liked in this one is that the 3 cities featured in this game has totally different vibe and feelings to one another. Unlike MC3 which did feature other cities, but they all felt the same. From the slower paced Los Angeles to the batshit crazy and intense Tokyo. The pace in this game jumps drastically as you progress, with appropriate genre of osts in different cities matching the progression. I liked this very much and its something no other Midnight Club game or even other racing games has achieved for me.
They literally made this game like a drug lol. Short cutscenes but enough to make you appreciate having a bigger purpose to the game than just racing, high speed racing, traffic coming from directions you can't see, big jumps, crazy fast nitrous, electro music to do your head in and if you fuck up, well, the game has a restart button that puts you back in action immediately. This game just doesn't quit bruhh
I use a large portion of the soundtrack from this game in my real life hard driving/racing playlist. Not that I would ever do that. 🤫
MC3's did not feel the same.
The opponent's monologue is actually entertaining. It gives every racer some character and individuality. That's a major feature missing from MC3 which made it get stale after a while. That's why they added it back in LA and made it even more character driven.
The menu music in this game is absolutely iconic
look at this little shrimp Who does he think hes kidding posing like that think he can race me in that car still I must try to be nice yo
HEY BRO FOLLOW ME
*crashes in the PC version*
totally unrelated, but your profile pic made me want to revisit the last 3 songs from that album
I love your photo i love black flag
For my car huh? Let’s go!
Midnight Club always had a dope soundtrack and very fast gameplay, the checkpoint system is so much more dope than Underground series where you had fuckin walls for each track making racing repetitive after a while. And the city felt much more live in MC series, with pedestrians and all that. Meanwhile Underground you'd be driving in a dead ass city with some minimal traffic bothering you from time to time.
Damn Mixes This
Midnight Club doesn't hold a candle to Underground, the worst thing about this game is that the game mode with random checkpoint scattered in the area is not skill based, it's just trial and error, and i personally hate games that use trial and error at such a degree. I got to Tokyo and then gave up, it wasn't that enjoyable for me, and when Underground 1 came out, i finished it a couple of times.
danetz88 Lol no. The unorganized checkpoints were all about map knowledge as true for the entire Midnight Club franchise. Beats mindlessly following a linear map with almost zero map knowledge and atrocious rubber banding AI.
@@danetz88 Same here. Plus you could mod your car, which I found more appealing. Although I loved driving a bike in MC because you could slip between oncoming traffic
@@danetz88 I played this game waaaaay more then nfs underground
Midnight Club 2 Remastered needs to happen
Alex Renteria absolutely but it never will
@@anthonyhodgson2934 yeah Rockstar is notoriously cheap. They don't wanna pay known actors anymore so they're not gonna re-up on old music licenses...
As someone who has played every midnight club... 2 is the most enjoyable for the serious racer... The atmosphere the game created is unrivaled... Is 3 a more polished game... Yes
it's my favorite
@ciaran perry Seemed fine on my side.
@ciaran perry I played 3 on pc using an emulator (PCSX2) and it was slick as heck. No lag whatsoever.
i agree 2 is definetly the best the soundtrack is just one of the best and love the characters
The more you played online, the more you understand how bad your driving skill are XD
(played during 2013-2015, was such a good time to be alive and play CTF races)
Driving a black Porsche 911 in Japan, I see you're a man of culture as well.
Is that a reference to wangan midnight
@@dragonrider2868 yes it is.
I just bought two 911s because of this comment

Midnight Club 2 always looked like the perfect Arcade Racing to me. It's a game clearly focused on the gameplay, on the racing, in an intense, fun and unique way, rather than a cool, hardcore or realistic one. It provides ridiculously fun physics with a rather enjoyable story and a cool multiplayer mode which... RIPs for most of us.
As said, best arcade racing game imo. They don't create games as dedicated to pure fun as this anymore.
I actually love when video game bosses shit talk, they make me laugh.
BOOOOORRRIIIIINNNNGGGGG
My favourite part of MC2 is how handcrafted the campaign mode feels, every race tries to be different from the previous one (With music, scripted events, weather conditions, track layout, sometimes the event itself) and it never feels repetitive, and of course the car and music selection mix perfectly with each city
It took me 13 years to 100% Midnight Club 3 Dub Edition Remix, I was too young back in 2006 to understand it or have the patience. I completed it 2 months ago and it really felt like a huge achievement since it's difficulty is more or less the same as this game. I hope R* brings the series back one day. That's be great.
I found midnight club 2 to be way harder than 3
@@ryanhilden1443 it was I think, I remember playing it on pc about 5 years ago and after unlicking some supercars I couldn't progress, I was stuck.
Your opponents trash talking you often was always entertaining. It makes it all the more satisfying when you beat them especially during the more difficult races.
HOW YOU SUPPOSE TO BEAT ME
IF YOU DON"T HAVE A CAR!!!!!
I really have to say that The MC:2 Soundtrack had a really huge influence in my taste in music. those brain tracks and stuff from Art of Trance is incredible!
ACID TEDCHNO 4 LIFEEEEE
Brain is also not a single one-wonder.
Code series (done by the same people) - is a huge bet, but more relaxing, imo, but sounds good anyway!
Always preferred Midnight Club II above the other games in the series thanks to its city selection. Each one looked, felt and played uniquely, with Paris taking the crown for me. Also, can't help but love "Round About Midnight" being Parfait's theme.
Midnight Club 2 was amazing and hard as hell
Alex Renteria switch to a more calm soundtrack in the later races! They are not that hard but the techno sounds make you go insane
Savo Paris race

I cannot wait for you to review Midnight Club 3. That was my favorite racing game on the PS2!
Biggest Crime of that game is not being ported to PC :(
Ooh that was my 2nd. NFS Hp2 was more appealing to me for some reason
Most wanted too
@@nikbond188 thats sucks, but not alot because you can easily emulate it using pcsx2.
@@nikbond188 emulated in pcsx2 at 3x resolution is pretty great though
Seeing this at 2 am during my finals weekend, thanks for making my week man for this review on my favorite racing game
I have very faint memories of this game, I only remember getting as far as Hector. So with 1 and 2 down, there's only...
*House Real Big...*
Car Real Big!
Belly Real Big!
Everything Real Big
*Rims Real Big...*
pockets real big
Thumbs up if you unlocked the Batmobile kind-of-looking car.
The one with the jet engines? I loved that thing.
A core memory of mine for gaming is the race against Hector for the “RX-7”. I can still hear Hector’s chicano voice instigating me; Tre Little’s Put Your Top Down playing faintly in the background while I follow homeboy to the race all to see the cops surround us and we having to make a run for it in a stormy midnight. That shits engraved into the back of my mind lol
The blonde girl Haley and Gina made my pp happy when I was a little kid. Damn . One time my dad caught me looking at the female characters and said "mate, what's going on?"
This game was my childhood. Probably one of the first games I ever played. Thanks for the review mate!
I always loved midnight club 2 and it will stay the best game I ever played. the cool atmosphere, the unrealistic but yet enjoyable driving physics, and the early 2000s techno music combined with various opponents you have to face during your run made the game a masterpiece to be honest, it made you feel like you are actually participating in illegal races with notorious drivers all around the world and each time you beat an opponent you look forward to discovering what is next, what is the car you have to acquire and who is the next racer and his background. You beat them one by one until you meet the world champion, that moment when you feel you are ACTUALLY challenging a real racing world champion, not some easy typical AI.
and then it comes the last checkpoint of the final race against Savo, that moment when you realize it is pretty much your first start point to the whole game, and then when you cross it you feel sad because the game is over but happy because you feel you accomplished something after some real hard work, and proved yourself to be a real professional driver. Another note that is worth to be mentioned is that the girl at the beginning of the start line of the last race is exactly the same one from the first ever race against Moses...
MC2 will always stay in my heart, #LetsKeepMC2Alive
I didn't watch the video yet lol :P
Me and my mate would just mess around in 2 player split screen on the PS2. Good old days of Fun on simple games like MC2
Alpine stars jump jet, atenaa round about midnight. AXUS when I fall in love. Art of trance. DJ Robert and the Martinez brothers electrified. Bluemarten home videos. Man this game had a bumping soundtrack. You also get to race mob bosses rich Japanese dude and different person from across the world. The twins where pretty cool.was it difficult, yes, but it was fun. To bad they had to go mainstream for the 3rd one.
Captain Planet exactly!!!
Lets remember Our first crush in this game.
Cocaine
Mines was Haley aka Android 18
imma be honest i thought gina was pretty cute in a really weird uncanny-valley way
Gina ♥️
The twins!
You get the biggest weight lifted off your shoulders when you beat this game
"I played the PS2 version because of the precise analog stick driving" Really? The PC version supports controllers!
I thought the same thing... xD
and the PC version allows you to listen to custom music too.
PC version also allows fishtailing
@@lt1s142 You can laugh at me, but I've been replaynig this game since 2005 and never even tried fishtailing.
@@MidnightMan04 Aww yeah, I always loved to throw my favourite bangers in and listen to them in-game! It was only natural to do it in GTASA afterwards.
One of the greatest games I’ve ever played soundtrack is really good and memorable. But man this games caused so much rage when I was a little kid
the soundtrack in this game is amazing its unbelievable that from the time I was kid I have through out the years looked and occasionally played this game since I was a kid best midnight club to me the music brings back so many memories
Good job with the review. This looks awesome! You should take a look at Midtown Madness 3, Burnout Paradise, Driver San Francisco and Test Drive Unlimited 1 and 2 if you like open world racers
Midtown Madness in general. While the first one's better, he'll be able to compare MM2 just fine with MC:SR, because the game's made in a same engine, plus the controls are similar with also similar types of races.
@@knucklesfan463 Totally agree! The thing is, and correct me if I'm wrong, but MM 1 and 2 are both pc exclusive and came out in the late 90's. MM 3 came out on Xbox so it'd be easier to get working
What about la rush
Driver San Fransisco is the most underrated game on the Xbox 360 generation
@@saaaahduuuuude1228 I agree 100%.
Pretty cool that they had a Thomas bangalter track in the game (Thomas is the silver robot from the electronic duo daft punk)
This game had the best electronic music. And that is not an opinion.
3 also had an amazing soundtrack but also had more rap and introduced Rock and metal songs.
LA was a complete let down, not only did it sound much more generic and mainstream it did not have the depth and complexity and variety that 2 had, in terms of hard acid trance techno and house.
@@PACKERMAN2077 They had a justice remix in L.A and some other good electronic songs, rock was a let down and rap was mainstream
Best Midnight Club game by far
"you were the one who always had my heart you know"
damn, that game alongside NFS Hot Pursuit 2 and the first Star Wars Battlefront was my childhood, still love its soundtrack.
More videos please ! You are so good at making reviews for games man :)
Keep it up !
The fake EM1 Honda Civic Si and DC2 Honda/Acura Integra were my favorite cars on the game 🙌🏾‼️
Ah yes Midnight Club 2 the Dark souls of Racing games.
Never played Midnight Club, but I LOVED the front cover of this game as a kid!
Makes me have a tear in my eye knowing midnight club is gone colorshed.
ColourShed not ColorShed
I don’t know how many people remember/know this, but if you fall off your bike, you can press start right away, and when you unpause you can ghost ride your bike
Oh wow, I remember I did that once, but I didn't know how did I do it. That explains it, thanks
I did that too. But did not know how I did till now thanks lol
Should've played the pc version with a controller
Hard to find anymore. It's not for sale. Have to find a used physical copy.

do Driver: Parallel Lines Review
*when car chauffeur game featuring triggery cops meets brutal gta gameplay
I found Driver Parallel lines to be kinda boring. The cops are super easy to loose in '78 but stick to your tail like mad in '06. The later would be great if they didn't all have shotguns! Driver 1, 2, and 3 did it a lot better with the cops just trying to ram you.
I loved you could ride choppers in 70's NY
Righteous!
@@zensoredparagonbytes3985 Wish the handling was a bit better though. Cars in the Driver games handle great, but Reflections never seemed to get the hang of bikes. Still think the 3D era GTA games had some of the best motorcycle handling, Midnight Club 3 was pretty great with it too.
@@scottthewaterwarrior I don't recall having too much trouble handling bikes in DPL. I just loved the Harley sound of the choppers. In this one they were much tougher to handle. Not because of the bike but because of the race layouts.
I skipped MC3 but I did buy MC LosAngeles for PS3. The bikes handled perfect there. I even got through the entire game on a bike. I think there were only 3. One of them was the Ducati Monster and another the Kawasaki ZX. Which was ridiculous OP.
Good times.
I loved how the rivals always talk major shit during the races in these games its part of what makes them great
Took me almost a month to beat Haley's first race. Her races had a lot of tight turns that required a car with good handling, also she killed me on straightaway. I think I eventually beat her using the Stadt (Farid's car) or Rsmc (Shing's car). Haley's theme music was good too.
Aaah, the nostalgia! Thanks a lot for this....Wholeheartedly agree!
Keep bringing in the classics!
I've been waiting for this since I subbed to your Channel.
For the next 15 minutes and 21 seconds my body is yours.
This game introduced me to the open world concept.
One of the best games of all time and truly the best racing game in history got it this game brings back so many great memories I still hop onto my PS3 from time to time just so I can play it since my PS3 is backwards compatible for it
crash bandicoot nice 👌🏽
This was my first playable GTA game when I was a kid on the PlayStation 2.
This is one of my favourite games in my childhood. I remember when i saw the first screenshots in a magazine, i was blown away. At this time, the only racing game i owned was Midtown Madness2. I loved the foggy style and idk why but i was totally impressed by the street lights. The following month i got a demo of the game, but unfortunally my pc was to weak to run the game. But i was so in love with it, that i just enjoyed the menu, espacially the background Music of it. Every morning when i was getting up and preparing for school i started the demo, just to listen to the menu music. A while later i upgraded my pc and was finally able to play the game, and listen to its outstanding soundtrack. Still today, 18 years later, i have an mp3 of the menu music on my pc and let it frequently run, relax and get nostalgic.
I started playing MC2 two days ago on my PC using an XB1 controller with a PS2 emulator and I swear this is harder than it was on PS2 but this is honestly a very fun, but very hard game.
I was always passionate and lived my childhood playing through MC3DER, hours just customising cars, and from time to time I'd change over to MC2 and it was a lot harder to say the least. In fact I've never finished it.
As a young kid, the trance began a love that carries on today and so did thr car styles and whatever else, it's highly influenced my life.
Over these past two days though I have, like many people gotten stuck on Tokyo, Ricky's second race to be specific. I thought it was harsh filling the previous race in the bus depot BLOCKED with like 16 buses and ruining the run then and there.
Paris was pretty challenging at times and sent me into a few frustrations and bringing me back to the raised voices, with more swearing, and I haven't felt like this in a lonnnnnng time with games.
But yeah... that is the weird thing about this game is you just want to finish it.
Unfortunately it doesn't feel rewarding anymore, unlike MC3 where you'd unlock a whole class of cars but in MC2 even if it's a favourite song and it really suits the environment, well you either get that one song or music off which is annoying.
Like I'd persist so hard and go over a race so many times that when I finally beat a racer and win their car it didn't feel like the pain was worth it unlike MC3 when you see that screen freeze for a split second and then the car key icon appears after winning a race (usually after a tournament) and that was the thrilling brain chemistry release. MC2 just doesn't do that unfortunately and racing doesn't feel worth it.
Tokyo in the DUB Edition Remix is a breath of fresh air compared to the walled up nightmare that Tokyo was, which I found quite disappointing when comparing the two.
Like in the fish market and wharf there's so many boxes and containers to navigate around in MC3 you just don't have those obstacles and floor the nitrous up the ramp. The cut outs in corners of buildings are a lot more forgiving in the north west side of the map, like there's not one large support but many pylons to crash into and ruin the race. Not to mention the buses and traffic, I swear are planted to really fuck up the run. Sometimes they are in 3 but this is ruthless.
In my head from memory I loved the game and the music but now that I'm putting in thr hard yards and not just the cheat code howhardcanitbe0, I'm really seeing how brutal and unforgiving this game is.
Possibly due to the emulator but when I turn pushing the analog stick all the way to the side, sometimes the car barely turns and refuses to go into a powerslide, making a race even more infuriating. I know in the pause menu I cannot scroll down and can only scroll up, and in air controls do not work when wanting to roll the car backwards, so a car will only nose dive.
However cruising around in MC2 is fun because the feel and aesthetic without the pain, it's still a fun game to drive in... especially when you get more than one song to listen to
My favorite in the series love the characters and the gameplay is just fun
Midnight club 2 is my favorite open world racing game. It was challenging especially with the bikes but it was worth it.
Somebody gifted me this game back in the days and I really enjoyed it playing on my pc... The two wheel drive was really lit for me and kind of mastered this technique... Being said that the races where they got random checkpoints and you have to choose the best way to win them was really frustrating for me but later as I played the game remembering shortcuts in a map become easy and I started dominating... I really started to love this game and after watching your review just made me to reinstall it and play... ✌️
I missed playing Midnight Club 2
I really happy when I beat the game and unlocked all cars
Midnight Club II was my childhood and youth. The cities, cars, my goodness.
Going on the west of L.A. to enjoy sunrise next to the ocean was my guilty pleasure
I played this game so much as a kid. And, oh my God, the music!
I remember getting so frustrated as a kid when I couldnt conplete a race but I still had fun racing, cruising, and playing the battle modes. Wish I could play it today
one of the best reviewers you are
Have you ever came accross the Pc platfrom Midnight club 2: Modern Edition. This was a edited game were all cars were moded even the toyota tacoma street car was also moded and used as a car as well in the game and because of this game i had more time to enjoy especially online Capture The Flag was such a blast i felt like i was playing tag with the girls back in elementary💯💯
man I had the exact game version like you when I saw it I remembered the good times
Hey bro love your reviews. Do you think you could review The Getaway on the ps2? would love to get your view on the game.
This is the only game that genuinely gave me an adrenaline rush.
Omg people are still playing this iconic game.
Midnight Club 2 is the Racing Game I grew up playing, it holds a special place in my heart. The Difficulty is what makes it great in my oppinion, it doesn't get boring. You can win any race in any car if you're good enough, but if you're not good you'll loose no matter what car you have. Soundtrack is perfect for the type of game. Only thing i somewhat miss is the costumization options, but I'll overlook that gladly for the more rewarding and more difficult gameplay compared to NFS
I'd love to see a video on Race Driver: Grid especially in light of the new grid being announced.
Great video, man. Plan on reviewing MC3 as well?
MidnightClub 2 was the first one I played but didn’t complete the game. I’d usually cruise online back then. A classic masterpiece.
still playing this today. got the luck to get a steam key before they throw it out of the shop.
loved it in my childhood, love it now.. awesome racing game
Loved this game back in the day. Especially the motorcycles.
Midnight Club 2 was great but Midnight Club 3 was the Bomb and also had a Killer Soundtrack!
Got this one the PC but I remember not liking it that much. I think it was right after the first Underground and I was looking for other street racing games. It was later with MC3 and Los Angeles that I fell in love with the series (especially 3).
MC2 was my first favorite racing game growing up. Took me and my friends over a year to beat LA and we thought that'd be the end of the game. Currently speedrun MC3r. Every MC has been very different in feel.
