I would say I was shooting for it to be more like GTA IV bikes, though the handling systems are completely different so you can only do so much. I hate the bikes in GTA V as well. My goal was more realism, so weight transfer should just be part of the normal handling of the bike. If anything, I'd say using the weight transfer button makes them feel like GTA V.
The car losing control during a jump could be avoided if you use the special moviment ability, but the rest of the physics problem looks better with the mod.
@@deth1634 The special ability is not just leaning. The bikes already lean. I think it's pretty clear that I was saying it's not realistic to magically turn way tighter at the press of a button. @@SoloDallasII I liked it before where you can weight transfer in anticipation of sharp turns, and then use the regular (albeit, more precise) steering to weave through traffic. This new adjustment seems a bit redundant, no?
@@IronMan-ds5bi There is already speed sensitive steering, so if anything the special ability was redundant. It’s a lot better in my opinion and would rather play this version then the original. My god, I was more mad in the Paris level then anything else and my got the handling. I finished it, painfully so but this, I could enjoy better 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
This mod definitely makes the handling better and the game easier. It's refreshing to see a mod that rejuvenates the mechanics because most MC2 mods change stuff graphic wise but never really touch the game mechanics. I just wanted to know, in assets_p, did you changed any files outside of the ones in the tune/vehicles ? I suppose these would be the only modified files but i just wanted to make sure because I have been working on a mod pack that replaces every drivable car in the game with real car models and i would love to play the game with both my mod and yours.
The vehicle tuning is really neat and a good change I think. I do like the arcadey style of it all but some vehicles were somewhat unusable with their weird stats, or only usable for one race. I can't agree with the scripted ambient changes though. The chaos of stuff like the buses and oncoming traffic, while difficult, is part of what makes this game fun. Maybe it's me and my years of replaying this game, but you do actually get used to it and develop the skills to think quickly to dodge stuff.
I thought I was the only one regarding the game's difficulty. When I had the OG ps2 version, the races were insanely hard as a 7 year old, and I had to use the difficulty cheat to make it easier lol, especially at the Savo races (Looking at you Savo unordered Paris race).
Yes, I'm playing my way through old racing games in order of release date. Currently on Driv3r. I wish all these other games were as easy to mod as MC2. If I can, I'd love to do MC3 when I get there.
Amazing job on the steering and the brakes man. But I can't get behind making the races easier. The scripted buses/trucks are not that hard to dodge, you just gotta think ahead. As to the excessive traffic, if 12 years old me managed to complete races at full speed without a crash, you can do it. Don't set limitations on yourself just because it's harder than most racing games. Driving in the middle or the side usually allows you to go through any situation. Also, the problem with the landing was on purpose so you'd have to use the mass control. You didn't fix the landing, you removed the usefulness of mass control.
But then it's just memorizing the script, that's not engaging to me. As far as traffic, I just want to enjoy the game, not pull my hair out doing 20 takes just to finish a race. It's still challenging anyway because the non-scripted traffic can still surprise you, but in a way that's not predictable. I'm not sure what you mean about using mass control. Does it not brake if you land perfectly on all four wheels at once? Regardless, it's definitely a bug, the game's developer that I spoke to said it was.
But I can understand why somebody who has played the game many times over the past 20 years and knows the races like the back of their hand would find it too easy now.
@@SoloDallasII Well, that doesn't seem enjoyable to me. If a race takes less than 20 takes to complete, where's the challenge ? That feeling you get after you finally beat the race you've been struggling with for weeks, months, years in my case... there's no other feeling like it. People don't like challenge nowadays it seems. Even my little sisters just give up on anything when they don't succeed on the first couple of tries... I don't understand how one can be satisfied by beating a race that didn't take 20+ tries to complete. About the landing, I didn't mean the brake thing, I meant how you corrected the way it lands. The brake issue, that you mention at the end, is still there. I still find the races hard, to this day. I can't just go in and beat Savo's races on the first try if I didn't train for a few days. That's what I call interesting and challenging. There are a lot of tricks to succeed through traffic : 2-wheels driving, finding shortcuts, hugging the sidewalks, driving in the middle of the road... none of them is easy, but they're all challenging and definitely within the reach of anyone above 12 years old. I mean, there aren't even that many tracks with intense traffic, it's like 1 out of 4.

The stone roads can kill acceleration, especially for bikes, makes handling jittery in places where it NEEDS to be precise, and if you turn sharply, as a lot of the time you are required to do, the car will flip over. Even the AI has trouble with the acceleration and flipping.
Maybe that's included in the more realistic part, but given how everyone else in the comment section has been having a good experience I figured there must be something at least a little wrong.
I'll try going through the rest of the game at 60 and get back to you.
@@nonamenogame9545 Interesting, I had no idea about that. I can't imagine even higher top speeds, it's already crazy trying to dodge traffic as is!
@@SoloDallasII I beat the rest of the game at 60 fps and it was a little better but the problems are still there.
To give myself more of an idea of what changed I went and did howhardcanitbe9 at 30 fps in vanilla MC2. This also helps expose the problems with vanilla since you have to be near perfect.
I'll be posting a review on Mod DB detailing the issues I found, how it could be improved, and an overall critique of the mod, what it's trying to do, as well as why vanilla MC2 is important especially in today's state of the racing genre.
@@nonamenogame9545 I'm not sure I follow, so is it harder because your top speed is limited while the AI are not? Or are the AI limited as well?
Did you also fixed the fishtail glitch?
What is that?
@@SoloDallasII It's a famous MC2 speedrun's glitch, where you make zig zag with the handbrake repeteadly. For some reason, the car gains speed with that, wich is ridiculous, because even starter cars can reach 249mph with that...
how did you make the assests file readable? I opened them in notepad++ but i couldnt decode them to normal text
You need to get an unencrypted version of it. The one included in my mod is not encrypted.
@@SoloDallasII i got them unpacked. would you happen to know what tweaks would make the cars fly harry potter style? I want to play ctf in the air online but i can only make the cars float by setting the gravity to 0.
@@ez1826 That, I have no idea. Sorry haha
Tks, but what directory or folder should I install it in?
Right in the main game folder. You should see a file in there by the same name: "assets_p.dat"
bro because why delete NOS from all cars
Tutorial please! I'm trying to mod MC3 to be more realistic! I want to change handling, performance values, and car engine sounds because some of the sounds are straight awful.
How can you mod MC3? Wasn't it only for consoles? If there's a way, I'd like to give it a shot of my own. Assuming it uses similar handling physics, these links may help you:

@SoloDallasII yes it was but I'm running it on emulator, I assumed you were doing the same for mc2 I use cheat engine and hex editor to mod games, I thought that's what you did
@@johndupreeiii9736 No, this is for the PC version.
@@johndupreeiii9736 Where did you get this cheat engine?
@SoloDallasII I just downloaded the cheat engine lmao it's literally called that, you can change hex values in the game. Also, I have a hex editor that can change hex values in the iso file of the game.
reducing traffic and scripted vehicles is a bad move the game needs to be harder
They not supras
Nice job.
What even is the point
game is piss easy its only really difficult at howhardcanitbe9
