So, it is very important to identify the age of your antique blanket chest before assigning it value.

So late 1800s maybe from what I saw thanks

I live in Minnesota and I just purchased an old Pennsylvania Dutch blanket chest for 40.00. It has six boards and a breadboard top. The hardware is hand wrought iron and it has rose head nails and very nice dovetails. I've been researching and I think it is from around 1790. The people who owned it, had it in the family for over 70 years. It is primitive looking. The guy sanded the surface of it, so it's down to bare wood. I would like to paint it like the Pennsylvania Dutch did, possibly a faded dusty blue with an old timey american flag and eagle. Should I paint or stain it or should I leave it alone? I'm going to glue some nice ball feet on the bottom to get it up off the floor a little. I'm not going to be drilling any holes in it. Thanks, Rhonda

I have a curved top handprinted chest which appears to have hex designs on it. 1910 is painted on the front. Can I post a photo and get some feedback?

Hi Paula, we are really not set up to do specific evaluations... I would just advice, that many times reproduction chests have painted dates on them (to make them seem older than they are.) You may want to get an appraisal from an auction house... Best of luck, thank you for watching!

We just got an antique chest from a consignment shop, they said it was Tibetan but not much info on it the wood looks very old and some pieces of what looks like newspaper on the inside of that time era. Look Chinese writing, Tibetan, Japanese writing. It is missing the lock and key and also the inside middle level on the inside. How much could this be worth?

Hi Rachel. Without seeing your antique chest in person, its really hard to do an appraisal. However, I would say, if you feel it looks old and valuable, it may be worth it to have it appraised. Most auction companies can do this for a fee. Best of luck, it sounds like a beautiful piece regardless!

Hi Carlos. Antique chests can be worth a few hundred dollars or thousands. It really depends on the age, style, condition and rarity... So if you think you have something special, you may want to get it appraised by an auctioneer or appraiser. Best of luck. Thank you for watching!
