    While I ordered mine before the launch mail went out and I haven't gotten it yet.... others post "long term" reviews. So I assume you got a pre-release model. How long is long term?

    There is no WAY I want my phone in view while riding, so a dedicated but discrete nav device is perfect - the Moto was good, I’ve ordered a Moto II.

  • @AwareWolfOnWheels

    I ride wearing polarised lenses so using my phone as sat nav is pointless cos when I look at it the screen blanks. Considering a moto II for myself.
    Pro tip, if you have your entire life on your phone then you need to reasses your life.

    3:58 How did you do this? I have a Moto and am not able to save roads/points of interest. Which firmware version do you have? I have been waiting for this feature so desperately. I did even write the Beeline team to suggest implementing it and now I see it here but trying it with my own Moto (pressing left and right simultaneously) does nothing..
    Bonus question: Does the Moto II also have it?

    Hi. I had the old model which although it was good I struggled with identifying specific turns in cities as the display wasn’t clear enough to identify a junction. Does the new device work better inside a city environment with multiple junctions in close proximity.

    Can you give some insight into the awesome road or not so awesome road feature. It's a must for me, as some roads turn to poo, too narrow of covered in moss etc, so I need to know how the function works for marking that road as BAD, and when I'm on the great road that I want to ride again, marking that at GOOD. once marked, how do you recall this information???

    The best thing they could do for Beeline Moto 2 is to provide the 3D model of the mount that comes with it so people can 3D print better mounts or attachments that can improve the safety of the existing mount. Those rubber bands are garbage and the clamp they offer will only be viable for bikes that have almost nothing on the handlebars since you have to take everything off to get them on.

    • @BramBergs
      @BramBergs 6 днів тому +1

      You could pretty easily design a adapter that fits on one side the Beeline and the other side Quadlock/SP, so you can use on top of your existing mount.

    Gen 1 was useless in urban environments. Unfortunately I got it after watching other moto vloggers using it, without realizing how the UX would be useless in cities and towns. The new one seems to fix this and other issues (e.g. gpx routes didn't work in my local streets) I have with Beeline, but the increasing reliance on the proprietary app (when it's shut down, the thing becomes a paper weight) and the subscription model creeping in, I'm extra skeptic about it and I'll probably pass. A good mount and a phone with ANY navigation app one might prefer is way more flexible

      I completely agree with the app shut down possibility. I think I will buy it anyway but I am a bit scared. However I don't see what they could do to solve this problem.

      I agree with the Gen 1 being useless in urban environments. I had one and even got Beeline to send me a replacement as the one I had kept sending me in wrong directions (I was trialing it on roadways I already knew). Still no improvement. In the end I just went with a communication system on my helmet. Still not the perfect solution but a lot better.

    I have two questions.
    1. Does the device have built-in GPS so I don't need mobile phone to ride?
    2. Do I need to pay a monthly fee?
    Thanks

    • @Yipcanjo
      @Yipcanjo 24 дні тому +1

      You HAVE to have a phone for the Beeline device to work. It's an external screen for navigation, and not a nav device by itself.
      You do NOT need to pay a monthly fee, but they've added a few features behind a paywall -- like correlating voice navigations prompts -- but it's not required.

    Unlike many comments here I dislike the concept of a phone mount. Having it in your face takes the whole disconnection from smartphone. I just like to put my music and directions via headphones so this is very nice for me.
    That way, I can keep my clipons clean and tidy and still have navigation with a map.
    Price though for it is very steep. Too steep.
    Not to mention the audacity to have a subscription based for audio navigation.
    I'll pass.
    And will it even work well in urban areas? I saw comments about the previous gen uselessness.
    Thanks, UR team.

    Would have liked to have seen more info in the review about the new UI on it to be honest.
    I have the original and love it and I can only assume that it is powered by witchcraft, because since owning it I have used it for a total of 20 hours, 11 minutes and 49 seconds of riding ( 524 miles according to the app) and it is still on 66% charge!

    • @BulletBeena
      @BulletBeena Місяць тому +2

      @@FunWithAJ I think that the 14 hours was for the newer model wasn't it? The original has a 30 hour battery life. I guess it's because it isn't always backlit, whereas the new one is. The old one had a ten hour battery life with the backlight on, but because of the type of screen it has, you don't need the backlight on unless it's night.

    Real long term review mine stopped working (no longer charges or switches on, screen completely blank) after 26 months. No way of repairing or warranty at this point, so a write off. When using item it pairs to your phone and therefore needs a good reception and due to that recomputes route very often on the ride. This is a problem because it’s not just a second but can be a minute or two therefore riding blind at this point. Good points small on bike and easily placed into your pocket when bike parked up. So although no monthly charge need to consider the 2 year shelf life.

    No offense meant but not the best review you guys have dropped. All i got from this is that the gen 1 was useless for city riding and more enduro suited. Gen 2 is slightly better screen size and improvements but thats it. Also you mentioned a negative of phones being used for navigation is that they eat thru battery life. Doesnt this still require phone gps connection and eat threw the same battery life or does it use it's own gps? If they survive to make a gen 3 i hope it becomes a full fledged gps device. No need for phone unless youre doing an ota update.

    7:12 ... anti reflective? Sorry, I can't agree ... in the video I can see the screen shows the surroundings being reflected from the screen. It would be better with a proper matte screen (and 3000 nits brightness, adjustable of course). C'mon Beeline, you can do it (and make it cheaper please). I'm still sitting on the fence and for the asking price I'm not in a hurry to get one.

    Yeah.... no.. its a product none of us really need, at a price none of us wanna pay... garmin and tom tom sales died with smartphones, its a bold play to start making them for the casual user when they arent needed.. (smartphone) a dedicated adventure biker would get a dedicated unit with more real estate..
    I see one reason to use it, moped thieves like to rip phones from motorbikes and probably wouldn't see this.. which reminds me, RoadRash chains would sell well...

    • @Jonathan-L
      @Jonathan-L 28 днів тому +1

      A poor man's alternative is to re-purpose an old phone, put on the Beeline app (free), get a phone mount (cheapie Quadlock clones are 10 quid). I've tried doing just that, but I'm old fashioned and just want enjoy the ride and do without any distractions. If I was doing an adventure ride, then I'd probably get a rugged tablet and running Guru Maps (free and well featured), but of course the expense is in the rugged tablet and the good ones are quite pricey, plus the mount kit required.
