    Nicely done as usual, here is a little trick. On the 3.75 HP engines when you replace the diaphragm B&S says to score a little line with an Olfa type knife on the tank between the farthest appart screw holes. This little bit of resistance helps to prevent the diaphragm from getting sucked in a little the way they tend to do. Just an FYI.
    Keep up the great videos.

    Hello Bruce. My sister had a WeedEater 22 inch push mower that has the 10T802 Briggs & Stratton engine that seemed to go through the diaphragm & gasket periodically. The engine has been maintained as it should and does not use any oil.
    When the mower was purchased new; The sales associate alluded to the fact that Briggs & Stratton had issues with the carburetor diaphragms going bad.
    Recently when the mower started acting up this time around- It had a tremendous amount of crud that had accumulated around the carburetor gasket area. I cleaned the carburetor externally and removed the five screws to remove the carburetor from the tank. The pulse port in the tank contained what looked like rusty water and the screen and pickup tube also had a fair amount of crud. The o ring & retainer stayed onto the intake pipe when I removed the carburetor from the engine. So I proceeded to clean the carburetor and tank in which I installed the new diaphragm/gasket - Also replaced spark plug with a new J19LM Champion.
    Bruce, I had the engine running great at my place- Just like it’s old self. So after I delivered the mower back to my sister; She called me a few days later complaining that the mower was running even worse than before. The engine was surging up & down with the black smoke and was drinking gas. After all of that ordeal, I ordered an complete aftermarket gas tank with carburetor from eBay in which I had to drill out the linkage hole and remove a screw where the air cleaner screw threads in. The front mounting tab had to be retreaded where the 3/8” bolt goes. I also replaced the foam air cleaner just for good measure.The engine starts and now runs as it should.
    Have you encountered any of the OEM Briggs & Stratton tanks causing issues like what I have been describing?.

    • @BrucesShop
      @BrucesShop  4 роки тому

      No I have not. I have had lousy imported diaphragms though.

    • @TheIronDuke502
      @TheIronDuke502 4 роки тому

      Bruce Under the circumstances- I was rather frustrated with the original tank & carburetor and was willing to take a chance on the aftermarket tank & carburetor. What I failed to mention before regarding my sister; While waiting on the replacement parts to arrive for the WeedEater mower, Sis purchased a new 22 inch Toro SmartStow which is a very nice mower which cuts as nicely as it looks. Thanks & Best Regards From Central Kentucky.

From what I now find, the original Murray Ohio Co. went bankrupt in '04. Briggs bought the name. Thus, the J25 that Bruce worked on was made (2010-ish) by Briggs/Murray for JD (that's good!). I was misinformed that the original Murray Co. was still alive & making mowers, including Bruce's J25 & my J46, through about 2011. Anyway, that's why I used the term defunct; I was referring to the original Murray. Briggs indeed offers some equipment under the Murray name; ie, for Walmart & maybe others.
