Thanks Ian. My 13yr old son has just got his 1st board. Of course as a mum I want him to stay safe and have fun. We r currently in Ghana and the waves r great. Your video is very helpful.
Best of luck! So happy I can help him learn more! 🤙🏼🙌🏼
Thanks for your help , been in for the first time this week post operation recovery, totally different from surfing but enjoying the new learning process.
Stoked to have found a way back in the water.
Stoked to hear it. Good luck on the recovery!
@@iaincampbell_ ta mate, my surfing experience seemed to help with wave selection.
Paddling out can't work out if I prefer just kicking or kicking and arms .
Duck diving easy .
Now just got to work out how not to slide out .
Just giggling all the way in , so fun.
@@jezlucas3878 watch the bottom turn video and try implement it to your style some more... Will help you from sliding.
@@iaincampbell_ will do thanks
@@iaincampbell_ another little South Coast session , and slowly getting it .
On one wave something clicked ,and definitely did something right .
If you're getting annoyed buy your leash
Well here's just a quick tip:
I bought a SUP (Stand Up Paddleboard) leash that I modified for my bodyboard, I wanted the extra length because the board kept pulling in the paddle with the tiny leash I was using. I'm primarily a surfer, but my shoulders have taken a few injuries lately. So paddling with "just arms" can "bring the fire" when I'm surfing. It sucks! So when I can't surf (I hate sitting back and watching others in the water) I bodyboard because I can alternate between two front, two back or all four in the Sprint for the wave.
Anyhow....
The coiled SUP leash doesn't pull, and the swivel up on my bicep is long enough that it pushes the leash out of the way with each stroke, but doesn't affect the board at all. Honestly, it's the best thing I ever bought and modified. It tucks under my arm and back. So in the paddle, with the swivel on the right angle... it's like you're not wearing a leash at all.
Honestly, do it!
Chill
Iain is de maaaaaaan! You have no idea how much we appreciate this
I learned the art at the Wedge in 1967. You guys have it so good with all the options and comfort.
I bought my 1st wet suit after my 1st Jet ski, 1984.
For sure it’s a lot easier now then it’s ever been!
Dope video. I’m old af and tried boogieing for first time. Did only the small waves but I was able to stream down a couple. Much easier and safer to learn than surfing. Gonna try some of these tips for sure next time I hit the beach.
You can do it! Enjoy the process…
I really want to either bodyboard or skimboard, what do you think I should do? I like the idea of standing and don’t like the use of peripherals like fins, but I also like the idea of a highly buoyant board that can handle big waves.
Do both. Mix and change it up. Just have fun in the water!
Nice! Definitely applying some of those things. Keep up the good work brother! Greetings from Puerto Rico 🇵🇷 💪
Thanks bru!! Appreciate it 🤙🏼
Great info bru - appreciate all your hard work in getting these clips together !
My pleasure!
I had a board made by Jimmy Linville (J.L. Designs) out of Oceanside California. I asked him what's the best fins to buy. He said the ones that fit your feet the best. I have 3 pair of Yuccas they have the best drainage and fit me fairly well. I have Da Fin. feel great on my feet and work well however I had to cut additional holes because the drainage system isn't great for those shore breaks. I found myself taking off my fins to get the sand and rock out. I also have a pair of Tribe T2 and Tech 2.
As I said, all down to personal preference with this but epic. I had a few boards by Jimmy too.
Thank you! I have recently got a boogie board and this video helped so much❤️❤️
Stoked to hear it. Enjoy 🤙🏼
Thanks for this video. I'm 55yo and just taken this up and learning. My first time out was so much fun ! The salt and sand certainly exfoliates the feet nicely. Can't wait till next time. Cheers
It’s a great time! Welcome to the boogie club. If you have any questions I’m always happy to help. 👌🏼
Nice one! At 51 I'm getting the bug!
Thanks Boogie. Just started last weekend. Very helpful!
🤙🏼🤙🏼
Iain you should make a video about how to beat the fear of big waves i think it would be great cause its a thing I struggled with when i started
I have done something similar to that but I will be doing a lot more this year!
Great summary and refresher Ian
here I am a beginner!😝🤙🤙
Me too 😝🤙🤙
@@skylinegodzilla24 i love bodyboarding in shortbreack 😆🤘
No one asked

i went bodysurfing over the weekend.. and ate major sand.. went right over the top of a big wave and it smashed me onto the bottom.. im pretty sore... but this is why im here... im determined to figure this out!
Keep going and trying new things! It’s a process and you’ve just got to stay in the water as much as you can.
Oh, wow! 😂 I have not had this experience and I have body boarded my whole life (not well, mind you) just casually and very amateurish. I am currently trying to teach my boys and it’s quite a hoot! Keep going, dude!
Nitido mi bro 🤙🏻 bien explicado 😎
going to the beach in a few days and i’m so excited to surf my body board
Rip it up!
@@iaincampbell_ Thanks!! i just got back from the beach today, the waves weren’t huge today but i rode some waves, it was fun nonetheless
Good stuuff Iaian! Maybe you could do a video on wave etiquette for beginners. Also some of us need fin teathers with cuffs that do not touch the skin to avoid cuts.
Yes i recently went out with my fins and they destroyed my ankles
You can get those ones I posted in this video or alternatively, wear socks.
Thanks this actually helps ❤❤❤
Stoked 🙏🏼❤️
Iain if your in hawaii right now or coming soon go to a spot called irma’s, or kaloko beach it’s a fun reef and it barrels 24/7 there
Won’t be back there this year unfortunately…
@@iaincampbell_ Ahh
Boogie everyday 🤙
Sir, do you have a "Best Of I.C. Bodyboarding Hype Video?" Big fan of hyping up with a video before SLIDING.
Not yet. Will have to keep that in the pipeline for things to come.
Thanks bru this heped me alot!!!!
Glad I could help
Good video
Wow!!I love this video.
I'm glad you like it 🤙🏼
Can I do this without the fins and wax
Of course!!
Looking at this video as I’m at the beach about to go in lol
Get it!!
Dude such a good vid!!
Thanks!!
How such powerful waves.l.
Great video
I'm a beginner, and I have a fear of sharks and water depth.. i also don't use fins...
Use fins and get some ocean confidence… overcome those fears and the results will be amazing!
Every single time I go beach, I try my hardest to gain some confidence, but i always worry about falling into gutters and what's below me, usually I only go out to sea about 10m, then I start panicking and start swimming back to shore.
Boogie boogie boogie
I cannot paddle to save my life without slipping off the board, or pushing myself so far forward that my legs can’t kick properly…
I’ve used body boards primarily as a floatation device more than something to actually swim on and have fun with so I’m completely hopeless with using one properly 😅
Well then this video is for you. Should help you understand more. I have more like these on my channel if you’re interested.
Thanks bro I'm only 11 I got 3 boards but I keep messing up on bigger waves
Keep it up! Keep trying new things and enjoying yourself and the process.
hello, is there a video about how to approach and pull an air reverse? thanks
I have spoken about that in a video, check this: ua-cam.com/video/kdrxgZaHeEU/v-deo.html
Great videos my friend.. thx 4 teaching
No problem 👍 my pleasure 🤙🏼
Big Iain, I hope you visit Canary Islands one day and surf this zone ;-)
I hope so too!
Hey Lain, how can I tie the knot for my leash?
There is a tutorial in this video…

So I got the Stealth board, Spawn, and i also got stealth S2 flippers. Are they good for this sort of thing? cuz idk whats good and whats not.
Yes, they should work fine. Get out there and Boogie Everyday 😉
@@iaincampbell_ thank you!!
Hey Lain, I love bodyboarding but I have never felt comfortable going in deep enough water where I can't stand. I just feel like the current of each wave will bring me out farther which isn't really true lol but how do I get more comfortable with going out farther to catch more organized waves?
You just got to get comfortable by doing it more often. Push yourself to get further out and enjoy the waves. I think getting more comfortable swimming and being able to swim well is a good thing for you…
Just bought an 18 dollar board from the nearest Walgreens and wanted to know how to catch a wave, too informational about stuff I don't have
You mean just riding the white water or actually bodyboarding?
@Iain Campbell fine we won't call it body boarding, but I just wanted to know how to catch the wave and ride it in. Great video if you're looking into bodyboarding but not quite what I was looking for
I guess I was looking for an extreme beginning video...
Beginner surfer looking to get into bodyboarding. Is it hard to catch waves on a bodyboard due to smaller volume? I’ve only rode longboards
Not necessarily. If you have your weight in the correct position, it’s very easy to get onto waves. Just need a slight bit of momentum when paddling into waves and you’re set.
Same
Get out there and try it, rinse then repeat.
👌🏼👌🏼
Hi I enjoy your videos.I am an amputee above the knee left leg.Do you think I could do this or have you heard of anyone Thanks John
Hi John, yes you absolutely can. It will be a bit tougher to keep your balance but I have heard of a few amputees getting on some boards and out in the line up. I would suggest try getting a fin on and testing it out. If you have any more questions, please reach out and I will do my best to point your in the right drection.
Good play bodyboard I am like play bodyboard
Hey man, I’m 11 and just got mine today and I am going out to the beach Tommorow with my body board, is it ok if I don’t have fins ??
It is but it also makes it a bit harder. But a challenge is never the worst thing bru 😉
@@iaincampbell_ ok thank you!
Thanks for the info!
🤙🏼🤙🏼
this is a good video, but you do not need all that equipment. just a board and a wet shirt is fine, both of mine are from body glove. the dolphin feet don’t make a huge difference.
As a professional bodyboarder I completely disagree! Having fins helps so much that I dont think I could do what I do without them! As a beginner it will also speed up your progression and keep you safe if you happened to lose your board!
What to do if you have forgotten your fins
Make sure you have a leash and try get some with no fins. I don’t advise it if you’re not a good swimmer but it’s still fun to do.
Does this work with kids? I’ve been learning how to but I don’t have a thick leash, I have the thin one. Does the thin one work if you’re trying to catch medium sized waves?
Thin leash would work but I always suggest staying away from the string leashes… something with strength is always better. And yes it would work with kids 😉
Anywhere in SA got BSD boards?
No idea…
Hello Iain i have been looking at bodyboard but im lost i have been looking at the LEGEND - SIGNATURE ALL ROUND - ELITE SERIES from sniper the only problem is that it has a stringer and i have no idea how to buy one or do i get one with the board im really lost if you fell like a board without a stringer is best for me if you have any recomendations my budget is 100-200 euros i would really apreciate you answering it would help out a lot🌊🌊🤙🤙
The board comes with the stringer in it already. Even the ones that have the ISS system still all come with stringer in the boards 🤙🏼🤙🏼
@@iaincampbell_ so i don’t have to put it in myself
When i catch a wave and it takes me back to the shore and i have to go all the way back getting stuck by the crashing waves what am i supposed to do ? Its so exhausting to always have to get back especially with the fins
The fins should be helping you, not making you tired. Maybe need to try some different fins then…
If you feel you’re getting stuck by the white water, bail your board and duck under the wave.
@@iaincampbell_ thank you
Shalou
Why from Indonesia play bodyboard
Thank you
Im 39 old and im learning 😅😅
Sometimes im afraid of the waves😆 but i love the ocean.
Im 6'2 tall and my boggie board is 42.5, should i get a bigger one? 45?
Thank you for your tips.
Have fun! That’s the bottom line.
I wouldn’t step up to a 45. That’s a massive board with a lot of buoyancy and maybe hard to ride. Maybe 43 to start and see how it feels.
Ich bin jetzt richtig heiß 🔥 Danke
No problem 😉
Wait aren’t rips dangerous? Sorry total newb here😮
They can be. But you can use them to your advantage too.
People die every year because of rip currents, so yes they are dangerous. If you're a beginner I wouldn't mess with them unless you're with someone who has experience and there's a lifeguard on duty.
