As quirky as she was, I was definitely curious about her as an individual. Such great acting back then, the focus in character development was astounding compared to today's films.
You should watch her and Judd Nelson (Bender) in St. Elmo's Fire. They play completely different characters...a preppie couple. You could even say maybe they graduated high school (The Breakfast Club) and ended up changing in college (St. Elmos Fire) lol
one of the deleted scenes in TBC is Ally hugging and dancing herself alone to The Beatles "In My Life" in the music room of the library. apparently it was so intense several crew members wept

Mine too. But I did not know who is she then. And I saw her in short circuit first. Later in life, i had a crush on a real girl. Suddenly I saw the Breakfast Club and figured that she was very alike Ally Sheedy :) So it was a projection. :)
jfunf Yeah! I remember seeing her in Short Circuit and adoring her in that. It was years later that I saw her in The Breakfast Club and fell in love with her all over again! :)
@@743degrees Ally Sheedy was my first serious crush as a young lad also. She's the reason why I adore women like her who might not be considered a typical Hollywood beauty but is still beautiful nonetheless. Even today women like Ally are a breath of fresh air compared to the plastic made up mainstream Hollywood actresses that oversaturate the silver screen today.
I relate with Allison so well and my favorite character. She fit her perfectly. I love how she's so in depth about everything she says. The 80's were such a great decade, I miss it!!
Obviously, Ally was perfectly cast for Allison, as her interview above displays who Allison would’ve become after escaping/defeating her fears. The Psychedelic Furs song, ‘She Is Mine’, comes to mind while watching the above.
She is so beautiful! I rewatched this film recently and was just amazed by how good they all were- particularly Anthony Michael Hall. Beautiful performances from all of them, really!
Damn, the interviewer sounds like trying to flirt with a young girl. So many silly comments and same follow up questions after she already answered the original questions already. Looks like they made her feel a little uncomfortable, although she handled it well. She is so beautiful 😍 I love how she looks and how she conducts herself and what she does with her eyes. 💐
Yeah, what right do these people have asking these kind of questions? The guy is kinda creepy. Too pushy. She don't owe them anything. Back off..Her performance says anything that needs to be known.
Flirt? This interviewer is creepy, as others noted. And, imho, the interviewers - especially the male - is unfairly teasing and manipulating Ally just because he can. This is not any fun. She's smiling because that's her job here. I wish we could have an interview redo. Ally deserves to have her say.
@@otheraccount736e repeatedly asks her personal questions about how she identifies with her character (who is very vulnerable). She answers his questions, but he keeps asking why, trying to go deeper into Ally’s personal life, beyond the character she’s playing. She says she doesn’t want to disclose more (without “breaking her ribs open”) and she keeps concluding her statements, but he pushes the same questions and says he doesn’t know where to go from there (which isn’t her responsibility, it’s his to adapt and change the format)
This was a different time when today's insane "everyone constantly polices each other" social culture didn't apply. People weren't as weak and fragile back then, and they didn't buckle, fold, curl up and die when they experienced slight discomfort or inconvenience. She laughed and smiled through the entire interview. Stop looking for disaster in every situation.
What a fabulous young woman. Got a little Joan Jett about her here. Highly articulate and stunning. Was 12 when the film came out, identified completely with the characters. Now I am a high school teacher, and I still side with the students 🙏
I loved Ally Sheedy as a kid. Saw all her movies... Short Circuit, breakfast club, mail to order, etc etc.... she was a big crush along with Kristy McNichol and Nancy McKeon
I watched this movie for the first time just yesterday and loved it. What a great simple concept without all the over the top preaching, cgi and mindless violence that is so pervasive in today’s movies.
@@joepermenter7228 I think they were even together irl. In one interview if you look up "judd nelson ally sheedy" the first video of you find the part with both of them, an interviewer asks "is there any romantic involvement involved here?" And they just smile and giggle while saying "nu uh" but in a very bubbly way... I wish their characters would've gotten together in the movie 😭😭
It’s remarkable that this is the same actress who played the bubbly blonde “popular” athletic co-protagonist/ love-interest in Wargames. It’s a completely opposite teenage trope and she plays both so compellingly.
I remember when Ali was 12 or 13, she was a budding journalist and did an interview with a champion thoroughbred horse racing jockey, I think his name was Cochran?...I don't remember for sure. It was cute. It was published in some sort of Teen Magazine I think.
Her character in the movie was odd but Ally the person in this look is very endearing with her mannerisms from openness, to laid back, to deer in the headlights. Though she avoided human contact as her character in the movie I love when she gives her full attention and expresses herself here. The way she handles some awkward questions is exactly what makes me like her even more. Sometimes an interview reveals the person and I like this one for what that brought out. She's near perfect.
It’s fascinating watching this interview and then watching the dubbed version in German. They not only found an actor who’s voice would match that of Ally’s, this actor also went the mile to adopt Ally’s Tone and Rhythm and the Mix of air and voice, they don’t put that amount of professionalism into dubbing anymore and it’s a shame! Like a lost art or something…
''Citizen Jane'' was the last movie I seen her in, think it's a 2009 show but she still looks really great,..Alley's now doing those Indie movies I hear, there's one called ''Little Sister'' which I love to see..

great comment about character development.
