I've worked in private buildings as a contractor that required me to sign in. They even demanded I quit what I was doing and participate in their fire/safety/tornado drills. I really wanted to say that I didn't work for them, I only have to follow what's in the contract, but their safety employees are required to know who is in the building so they can know if everyone is out in case of an emergency. I don't want someone risking his life running back into the building to find me, especially when I'm already in the parking lot. Falling and getting hurt isn't a good reason to require an ID. A simple, head count that is anonymous for a govt. building is probably constitutional though.

Hi, I'm not an auditor or anything, I watch your videos because they bring me joy in you fighting for everyone's rights. I am a doctoral student studying disability studies, and I can tell you with 100% certainty that having FOIL requests - or any government service only provided online, is definitely an unconstitutional activity - given IDEA and the push for governmental services (i.e., public education, health, access to government). Relying on supports outside of the government is problematic (i.e., individuals with different support needs needing to get assistance to type, file, and coherently complete a FOIL request - without government assistance), in doing so there is undue burden placed on those with disabilities. This one hit home hard.

Epic fail by him and the sheeple and yourself for not seeing the wrong doing.
That Sargent was absolutely professional and respectful, I was shocked to have seen that.
Sergeant
is a great public servant. Obvious that he knows how to interact with the public and his promotion to sergeant was well earned. Great job Sean!
You should never say that without knowing him. Remember: HE KNOWS HE'S ON CAMERA SO HE'S BEHAVING.
Every public government building needs to have a copy of the "Bill of Rights" on the wall. Every American should know what their freedoms are. This is America. 🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲
That would assume the government's goons can read.
Sgt. McDonough was impressive. He genuinely seemed to be listening to your complaint and did what he could to overcome the issue. Guy's got a level head on his shoulders and made sure not to trample on your rights.
The sergeant did well, especially for a younger man. He tried to de escalate and appreciated you exercising your (OUR) constitutional rights! Keep doing your thing brotherman! we need more brave, respectful people like you out there .. maybe one day I’ll go out and exercise my constitutional rights!
Just what I was thinking, he was trying to help. I want the body cam video and see what he said to the guards in order to let Sean in.

This may have been the best sergeant I've EVER WITNESSED. If we had more officers like him, the world would be a better place. Bless you Sean for being the best auditor, constantly EVOLVING, and standing for OUR rights and bless all the sergeants like this one. I bet if you interviewed him, the outcome would be amazing. It would set an example of how SERGEANTS SHOULD ACT. God Bless America
He just saved his county/city a shitload of money cause that would of been a big lawsuit
JJE SEAN SHOULD INFORM THE CAPTAIN OR CHIEF WHAT A TERRIFIC OFFICER THE SGT. IS.
He seemed to know what the assignment was
Watching this, I'm really proud of the sargeant. Seemed really no nonsense, straight forward, sincere, and just wanted to fix the situation and respect the rights of the public. Next job is to get his officers up to his standard.
The sergeant actually gave auditing tips and helpful information. He took it from a trespass to service. Absolutely incredible, but this is what we are supposed to receive. The bare minimum shouldn't be a win.
what a king ❤
You need government ID to enter a county building? These public servants are out of control! Keep up the good fight Sean!
They can if they want to. But then they have to do it to everyone and not just people with cameras.
I always show 🆔 before I go in and make an anonymous records request. Lol 😂
What a joke
No, you need to JOIN the fight
Hail Victory!
youtube won't let me say it in German.
Never had to show ID in the county courthouse in Kansas
Way to stand your ground. Sergeant obviously warned them of the litigation they were opening themselves up to and that's why you were permitted into the building without identity. God bless you
Should sue them anyway. They only made an exception with him "as he was being difficult" while still demanding ID from other people. They'll still keep breaking other people's rights if that policy is not scratched off. This place deserves revisit later on and even better if other auditor does it too.
Don't be so sure of that. Should get his body cam video. He probably told them it's an auditor-trouble-maker.
Good job asserting our rights. Thanks Sean Paul.
The sarge ought to be commended on his handling of this. If he reads these posts: Thank you sir you are a credit to your profession.
This was brilliant, exposing how messed up this anti freedom policy is. This is an example of how this is not the land of the free. The Sargent was exceptional, never seen an officer like that before. Showing ID to enter a public building that the people pay for is just not right. This has to be unconstitutional. I love your videos my friend. All the way from THE UK. IF I ever come back to the US I want to go on one of your audits with you. I have family in NJ. I love your style of being calm and polite you give them nowhere to go.

This Sarge is freaking awesome man. Love him to the core. What a refresher to see his attitude come from the blue. No entitlement and no arrogance. I wish him and his family all the best in their life. I will be chasing him down to convey my appreciation. You all need to do that. People like him need to know we encourage him.
Idiot. He just let him be violated and protected his idiot underlings. Stalked and swarmed without any law broken, wasnt allowed to film the building or go in to be helped by the actual fkin clerk who yes is required to take it in office and help anyone needing clarification, brknging 2 idiots out that had no clue, leaving with no business done and rights violated.
Unlike many other cops who act "nice" just because they want to look like a nice cop and you see through it, but this Sgt. was genuinely a great guy who kept his oath.

That Sargent was the only officer there with a decent bone in his body. Everyone else was rude, didn’t want to listen to you, and just wanted you to comply with the unlawful search.
But, wouldn't it be " easier" to just comply?
Like it would have been easier for Rosa Parks to just comply and sit at the back of the bus.
Yeah. They want " easier" over " what is right".

There were unnecessarily rude and their responses were those of punks. The department should be embarrassed. The sergeant was outstanding.
Feel sorry for that Sgt having to work with these clowns.

He was laid back, was willing to listen to you, and was willing to work out a solution so you can get back in to get your FOIL requests.
That was easily one of the best sergeants I’ve ever seen; he couldn’t have been any more helpful! Talk about making the PD look amazing….. ummmm, well, that all got kicked to the curb by the other officers who went OUT OF THEIR WAY to NOT uphold the constitution. It would appear that the sergeant should be placed in charge of training the entire dept on deescalation, constitution, how to negotiate with baby security guards, and probably on how to identify to the public and how to treat the public. The man literally hit “A+” in every category, including being a human being AND helping!! Officer, you did amazing and you’re a shining example for every law enforcement officer in the country‼️

All seriousness, that was the best Sergent I've ever seen. That man was calm, cool and collected. He listened well, discovered the root of the problem and made sure no one's constitutional rights were violated. Let's give credit where credit is due. Good Job Sergent McDonough.
I thought the sergeant was just being passive because he knew you were doing a first amendment audit but that suggestion to send a letter to the clerk to improve procedures showed he understood what you were really saying. Seemed like a genuinely good guy
The young Nassau Sergeant for President! Good looking, smart, and knows his job!

The county should be ashamed of itself for such policy and its employees also

These people wouldn’t have it any other way.
Next up! A policy for everyone to keep their government jobs and have ZERO interaction with the revolting members of the public that pay them! 🤣
This video is a perfect example of what happens when men and women don't have the courage to say "no sir" and instead, give in and say "yes sir".
Totally agree. I was always sir and ma'am and if your a public servant you can say that to people.
Most people are taking the path of the least resistance unfortunately
The Truth!!!
The officer really said " why can't you just follow the policy?" That's a dangerous mindset.
It irritates me how time after time, the second a police officers authority is challenged they get pissy and their behaviour becomes completely hostile. Stop bringing your feelings into it, and do your job. This is why there is a massive disconnect. Great video.
That sergeant was awesome 👏🏽 10/10 that’s all it take do your job that’s all you gotta do and do it right
That was a solid Sgt. I imagine he will make an excellent Lt in a few years. Saved a potential lawsuit and was a complete professional.
I don’t understand how a FOIA officer doesn’t know that it’s a LAW you can submit in person
Sean is schooling these public servants!
I literally love your politeness sean.. i am learning alot from u. Stay safe peace ✌️❤️
Another GREAT job, Sean. No code affixed to any sign means unlawful signage. A public building IS PUBLIC PROPERTY. ID required to access public ANYTHING is unconstitutional. Again, you EARN respect, and you have it!
Wow, what a great audit… I really give you credit for always maintaining your composure and being a gentleman, no matter how badly you are treated by public officials. I would fire all the security and police officers with the exception of sarge. It’s clear why the sarge made it to that level cuz he tried to look for a solution and not just shut you down… high marks for him. Again great job Sean and keep up the great job.
Big ups for the Sergeant for resolving the situation. Cops should be on our side, stand up for the rights of the people.
It’s painfully obvious that public employees are rarely if ever accountable.
Some probably are reprimanded behind the scenes.
“But there’s a sign!” People’s critical thinking has taken a huge hit. Over the years we have no longer been educated, rather we have been trained. It’s getting close to the point where they could get the majority to walk off of a cliff just by providing a sign that advises them to do so.
Signs, signs, everywhere there’s signs.
"Do this don't do that can't you read the sign"
It hasnt taken a huge hit, its always been like that.

she is making all the good ones look bad. not all government workers are like that. just like any profession, say, your professions. there's great and then there's terrible. the sergeant did AMAZING
Hospitals and emergency services treat Jane and John Doe's all the time. It is certainly a stupid argument.
Crazy thong is you can give your name to a doctor
She really pulled that fall and get hurt reason out of her as* LOL

Like Seinfeld, Friends and other hit television series, you're a top leader in your genre. The auditing community is growing at an accelerated pace.
