8:03 Ah Business Law. Brings me back to my grad school days. Took a couple Business Law classes. You learn a lot about contracts and the Uniform Commercial Code.
Crossing state lines brings it into federal jurisdiction, not just state. Chuck came up with the figure after realizing how many facilities they had and how anxious they appeared to settle the case. He knew they could make it a very large class action, assuming there was coordination between all the facilities to defraud the residents. Giving such a large figure meant they would withdraw their settlement offer and give them more time to investigate.
You can tell that Chuck definitely knows the law!

RICO is short for 'Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organisation' (passed in 1970 to fight organised crime, but now more widely used) -- a federal felony law.
TRO = 'Temporary Restraining Order'.
Thanks for the clarification! I’ve heard of a temporary restraining order but only in the context of violence or harassment. RICO makes sense as Sandpiper seems very corrupt and fraudulent.
In this case the TRO is different than a personal, domestic violence one. It would most likely be used to ensure that the status quo is maintained at all the homes, no more shredding of records and that the residents don’t mysteriously start getting evicted or face unfair treatments.

@@jmo3457 Yes, they could also seek a protective order. The court could order them to preserve the records. The parties have a duty preserve as soon as they reasonably know litigation is imminent, but the facility has shown it cannot be trusted to do that.

TRO - Temporary Resrtaining Order
If they'd hired Jimmy his life wouldn't have turned down the path of crime. If Walter White hadn't gotten cancer he would have had a normal life as well. It always seems to be one event that changes everything for the worse!
