That's an outstanding mod. As has been pointed out, the original FZR600 had a steel deltabox frame, so mystery solved :) I'm not sure they ever moved to an alloy frame on the 600. The 400 was alloy framed (I had one) and it was a fairly common mod to drop the 600 lump into the 400 frame. Or 600 head, barrels and pistons on a 1WG 400 block, keeping the 400 crank. That's what mine eded up with. It screamed! I like the blue, but it would look better with red and white speed blocks, IMO.

Definitely a very interesting and bold approach in the design and build. The color combination is nice and adds to the respective “back in time” look. I immediately remembered the Ford Gulf racing blue of the Lemans GT40’s of the late 1960’s era. As always, thank you for Racer TV, the Café racers only choice! The bike looks amazing, "but" removing half break system at the front end (the most important brakes on any motorcycle) to "show" the wheel I think it's silly, (as always my opinion), thanks Victor for another great video!!
Indeed. I still don't know why it is missing 1 of the front discs. But other than that, it's a pretty daring project. Thank you Carlos for sharing your perspective. :) Cheers.
Now that has the juices flowing some what, the exhaust is just a pure work of art on its own and the lines through the whole bike make it look factory built. That is some custom job and the pale blue paint against the black and overall aggressive look works better for me than the carbon look. Well done and good luck,
Another very interesting and challenging build that has been finished off beautifully. Although I did like the carbon better than the blue. But that's just me. I agree about the wheels. I think there's only one type of wheel for a café racer and that's wire wheels. Great video as ever 👍 😎 Kind regards Paul from 48 Spokes 🇬🇧
Interestingly, there was a time in which I also believed that evy cafe racer shout have spoked wheels. But then I realized, there are few motorcycles in which alloy wheels look better. In this case, I am not sure, because I have never see a FZR 600 with spoked wheels. Lol. Thank you my dear friend for sharing your opinion. :) Kind Regards Vitor
That is beautiful, it's giving me some inspiration for my modern retro build!!!but it's just welding as I have 3 fzr 600 89, 92, 94 all have steel deltabox frames
Mais um vídeo impressionante e um trabalho de customização maravilhoso, mas tenho que concordar que a escolha das rodas não foi a mais feliz em minha opinião.
What a beautiful bike, I have a 90 in glorious white, as stock as the day it was built apart from the exhaust, which was shit, it now has a Harris brushed ss system, why brushed, to hid the word's "Race System, not for road use" I have never tried to do anything with it because it's just too fukn difficult, but looking at this I do believe you are right, he hasn't welded the aluminum, he's welded the steel to a flange that bolts up to it, it's a bit of a fake but still a good idea & it creates a bike that no one else has, I'm still keeping mine stock though, same with my 1000 & I'm looking for a good 400 to make the set. Yet another excellent post, thank you.
Another great video thank you 👍🏻I agree with your comment about a link to the Ducati frame ! Wonder how it handles , but it looks So good well done Lucky Custom 😎👍🏻

So, just to sum everything up: Cut an outstanding and effective frame and replace it with a couple of randomly arranged tubes. Put a uselessly loud exhaust that will possibly spoil the performances of the engine. Remove one of the stock front disc brakes and leave only one of them. Finally, the icing on the cake: put a set of crappy cross-ply tyres. What a work of art we are witnessing here!... Good job Lucky, but next time try harder.
@Adrian Pomeroy Thank you my friend for your support. I also looked into these helmets a few months ago, and found that they are not road legal, apart from the visor being fixed. But they look cool indeed. :) Cheers.
As has been said steel frame here but most early alloy frames used cast headstock & rear cradle sections welded to extruded sections. Just look at any early GSXR (1985>). No particular magic & a long time before the i3! That being said the i3 is an incredible piece of engineering in its own right.
Thank You for the clarification. Before making this video, I did a lot of research on the Internet, and all the articles I found about Deltabox frames, said they were made out of cast Aluminum. But now I know that only some Yamaha models had this type of aloy frame. About welding extruded sections with Cast aluminium, from what I heard, it can weld, but only very small sections, and not like it is done on the BMW I3. But here is a link to a very interesting and credible video about the BMW I3, and try to see from the minute 32 forward.ua-cam.com/video/uDr4L6BzpP8/v-deo.html Cheers.
The mistake is that although the 750 and 1000 cc versions were always made of aluminium, the 600 versions were always made of steel. Also Deltabox, because that name referred to the shape, not the construction material. Therefore, steel has been welded to steel.
Likewise, in the original fzr600, from the year 91 or 92 which he has used, the fuel tank was made of black sheet steel and it looks original in the transformation. it only occupied the rear half of the entire space covered by the false tank. The entire front end was the intake box with the air filter, which has been replaced by the individual filters. the original fake plastic cap is the one that has been modified to fit the pretty final shapes. I liked it
Sorry to say that you've make a "mistake" ! But it is an understandable one to make. You see the early FZR even though it had a deltabox frame (shape) Yamaha for cost cutting still made it out of steel (it was just for the racer looks)! I am old enough to have had the model that predates this one (FZ600) and read every bike magazines I could in that time period. The FZ600 started life as a 400 for I think only the Japan market, It had an extremely good and praised chassis of rectangular steel so yamaha decided to import the bike and fitted the air cooled 600cc engine from their FJ600. Now I wonder if the FZ600 has been converted to a café racer ???

@@RACER_TV Yeah well you see it was meant to fool people ! (painted silver). It works even better now that most people are familiar with aluminum frames ! But during that time it was still a new thing and manufacturers were still developing how to do it proper, Yamaha did it first on their flagship 1000cc (if memory serves) so for the much cheaper 600 they went with simple trickery instead ! Keep up the good work !

Structural adhesive? They “glue” on some structural panels, even some frame rails on German and other cars, some from factory build and during collision repairs
The fzr 600 of the vintage shown uses a steel frame so the whole premise of the video is mute . The fzr 400 and 1000 used aluminium frames , the 600 genesis was definitely steel framed

FZR 600 is a steel frame. The FZR 400 has the identical frame but done in aluminum. If someone found a 400 frame the 600 engine would bolt right in and that would make one hell of a bike

@@RACER_TV its not you, its that there are actually two different Yamaha FZR600's and Yamaha sold them both at the same time under the same name in the US so all the data is really confusing and a lot of misinformation is out there. The frame is from steel. Also, I would like to see someone pushing the bike into the track, so we can see how good the frame is. OK, beautiful bike but it must be functional too.

Yes, but that is not what I said in the video. I just said it is impossible to weld Die casting aluminium, with Extruded Aluminium Beams. And this is very diferent. :) Cheers.
@@RACER_TV still can be done, also did my research. i weld. not aluminum so i had to ask those who do it. they also toldme what to do and what to use, it can be welded using mig and tig. the most common recomendation was using 5356 wire, pure argon (in both processes) and a good preheat mainly on the cast part. if tig is to be used, balance should be more on the cleaning side.

I love your content and have done for years but you're f*king clutching at straws when you say "aluminium should not rust therefore there there may be other possibilities" Undoubtedly there are other options and questions around how he made this work. But claiming it's a dark art or questionable simply does not apply here. For example, the Audi A/S/RS4 in the right conditions (i.e. mountainous) will see the alloys start to rust from a mixture of abrasion (stone chips) and cold / wet conditions. Especially if there is contact with other non-alloy metals. This could have been the case with this motorbike frame. Like I say, I love your content - but please CONTINUE to do your research and don't just post stuff for the sake of it ... otherwise you'll lose credibility.

Thank you my friend for sharing your perspective. I'm glad you liked:) Cheers.
Another great video thank you 👍🏻I agree with your comment about a link to the Ducati frame ! Wonder how it handles , but it looks So good well done Lucky Custom 😎👍🏻

LINDA !!! grande obra e deve ser uma bomba !!!
Sem duvida. Com menos de 180 kg, e cerca de 90cv, quase que consegue voar. Lol. Caro Francisco, obrigado pelo comentário. :) Um abraço.
So, just to sum everything up:
Cut an outstanding and effective frame and replace it with a couple of randomly arranged tubes.
Ótimo vídeo! Parabéns
Obrigado amigo. Fico contente que tenha gostado. :) Um abraço.
Would be very cool to see one of your renderings of my Buell project ,love how it morphs from stock to custom amazing
I believe the FZR600 was a 'budget' version of the bigger bikes, and the frame was pressed steel.
1:56 bro, sabes donde puedo conseguir el carenado frontal como ese?
This front fairing is the FZR original one, but with some modifications. Saludos.
I love these videos, thank you for your brilliant work here. Quick question, does anyone know what the blue helmet is, who makes it?
Pretty sure it's a modified Bell Moto 3
@Adrian Pomeroy Thank you my friend for your support. I also looked into these helmets a few months ago, and found that they are not road legal, apart from the visor being fixed. But they look cool indeed. :) Cheers.
@Teh_D3th_St4r Yes, they look very similar. But as far as I know, they are custom made and not road legal. Thanks for the feedback. Cheers.

As has been said steel frame here but most early alloy frames used cast headstock & rear cradle sections welded to extruded sections. Just look at any early GSXR (1985>). No particular magic & a long time before the i3! That being said the i3 is an incredible piece of engineering in its own right.

Before making this video, I did a lot of research on the Internet, and all the articles I found about Deltabox frames, said they were made out of cast Aluminum.

I liked it
Sensacional
1:55 el tanque de combustible de que motocicleta es?
The outer section of the fuel tank is the original from the Yamaha FZR 600, but cut to adapt to the new frame. :) Saludos.
Also using the black tip from the original exhaust would extend the muffler, making it more pronounced
Thank you my friend for sharing your perspective. :) Um abraço.
I love it
Sorry to say that you've make a "mistake" !

My first bike was a 2002 Yamaha r6, I just picked up a 92 fzr 600 to turn into a cafe racer

With high possibility of cathodic cleaning, Al3+ can be welded by A.C welding...
If (where) there is aluminium and steel they can't touch or they oxidize very fast due to galvanic corrosion.

The fzr 600 of the vintage shown uses a steel frame so the whole premise of the video is mute . The fzr 400 and 1000 used aluminium frames , the 600 genesis was definitely steel framed

@@RACER_TV its not you, its that there are actually two different Yamaha FZR600's and Yamaha sold them both at the same time under the same name in the US so all the data is really confusing and a lot of misinformation is out there.

How to destroy a perfectly beautiful bike
The whole video is about an impossible weld. LOL Aluminum doesn't rust...
I love your content and have done for years but you're f*king clutching at straws when you say "aluminium should not rust therefore there there may be other possibilities"
Undoubtedly there are other options and questions around how he made this work.
