- Fr Ignatius gives the homily from Our Lady's Chapel, New Bedford, MA, for the Sixth Sunday in Ordinary Time (Feb 11, 2024), reflecting on the relation of sin and disease, and on Jesus will to heal us in body and soul. Father further draws out the lessons of the Scripture regarding our reception of the Sacraments, particularly Confession, and the importance of glorifying God with our life.

When you say merits are restored does that mean my prayers said while in a state of mortal sin now have merit ?

Actually another question do the your merits while in a state of grace get lost once you commit a mortal sin?
One cannot merit while in the state of mortal sin.

Overcoming mortal sins and pride for the Glory of LORD GOD. If we TAKE OFF all the excessive things in life to bring down Pride: TAKE OFF money [only what is enough then give to charity or save for your family], take off excess clothes, take off parties, socials especially gossiping and flatteries, take OFF TV/videos, especially dramas, take off video games, alcohol, smoking, drugs, take off concern on beauty,/brawn and unnecessary shoppings. Take off too much eating. CLEAN the WHOLE HOUSE: build your own NOAH's Ark. Pray the HOLY ROSARY not for self but for conversion of enemies and for others; be under a SAINT, especially in petitioning; and be with your Guardian Angels in everyday chores. READ the most of the BIBLE especially when you do not like to read; then review and "meditate". Attend to HOLY MASS especially when you feel too lazy to go to Mass. Think not about yourself. Never get tired of working for the sake of your family. Do GARDENING in the whole backyard. /. When you feel above than anyone; ask the Holy PRIEST to BLESS you in Confession to take OFF pride. EZEKIEL 9;4. MARK 16;17.
