Mark was unresponsive and bleeding, and this dude first of all refused to call 911 multiple times, then when he gets to her spot he takes the extra time out to turn around and BACKUP into her driveway like he was delivering groceries??? I’m 51 from the DMV, my mother and uncles turned me on to funk at a very very early age. Mark is the smoothest funk bass player I ever heard. Mark and Larry Graham are my top two, that changes from day to day who’s 1#😁He will forever be missed all over the world!

Mark Adams was my idol and made me the type of Bass player that I am today, and like free said Mark was on drugs, I’m from Cleveland, Ohio and I remember I’m at work and I hear Slave was coming to Cleveland at this venue that’s named Mitchell now, so I was so excited and wanted to finally meet Mark in person, but got there and was totally disappointed that he was there, they played that Friday and Saturday night I went on Friday, but after the show I met Drac and I asked him where is Mark, he said Mark missed the show but hopefully he would be at the Saturday show, he didn’t make that show either, the Bass player they had filling in was just a average local fill in, that’s when I knew the rumors about his drug habits was real, talking to the rest of the band members 🕊💐R.I.H Mark Adams💐🕊

Wait, she never done anything with Mark and his music but said she wrote some songs with him. How she know nothing about drugs yet met him when she sung with the Stone City Band.....ok. Oh wait, early when the guy called and said get Mark...he was talking to some girls..it shocked her..yet she says he call girls to get money for drugs..... Ok..a lot of holes

What is this woman saying ? I read that Mark Adams died from getting hit in the head with a blunt object, and was lying in the grass unresponsive. Her story doesn't sound legit for some reason. I could be wrong. This is really sad . I hope that justice is served for his loved ones.

Hummm, I don’t know this woman and she appears to point out all of Marks issues and didn’t pay homage to him. She mentions he had no money, he was addicted to drugs, and refers to him not being faithful. To be in the music scene and didn’t know about drugs raises red flags. I don’t think it’s wise to keep this interview in my honest opinion. Or did they want her to dig herself a hole? She comes across as a hero and a savior and that usually leads to something seriously wrong and the person is a Psychopath. Or it could be a disorganized truth. R.I.P Mark Adams and I hope the truth comes out and justice is served.

Sheena Mitchell-Avery I would love to read this book for free and not donate to her. She truly degraded Mark the whole interview...smh. Just the little bit of what is mentioned in the comments has painted a picture that is getting darker. She is so dismissive of his children and the children mom is troubling. If anyone believes she is 100% honest they don’t have any discernment. She is also calculating with words and emotions and change at the drop of a hat. When she wrote her book she is now open to public scrutiny and examination. She wrote a book about Mark to gain. To put all his struggles out in the public was disheartening. Mark Adams isn’t here to defend himself.

Family: Mark is my brother and you are my family. Most people don't know, but Mark and I rearranged the graduation song we sang at Roth High School, class of 79, and he encouraged me to submit it. The lyrics of September from Earth, Wind and Fire fit the tone of the times and I still to this day sing that song the way we did it at graduation. Mark was gifted with that bass, and I well remember the days he sat on the porch and played for hours, as well as the days the "Young Mystics" played in our basement. Neighbor block parties with Mark, Skip, Floyd, Ray, Marcus and the rest of the band are indelible memories of a wonderful, wonderful childhood of cherished times. Rest well, Mark. You will be missed. Paka, Patty, Tina and the rest of the family, my heart and prayers are yours during this time. Your Sister, Cindy

The man STILL doesn’t have a headstone?!
It’s sad to see how dysfunctional our families and communities have become. I’ve seen interviews of his loved ones on this channel appearing to care about Mr. Adams and his great legacy, but these same people can’t even put their egos and grievances aside to simply come together and agree on a headstone??? And she had one already designed and ready for purchase, based off of what he told her he wanted it? Damn shame.
Mrs. Knapper is a beautiful woman and I’m happy that she has healed from this experience and was able to tell her story, as she is still a part of his story. I thoroughly enjoyed this interview from beginning to end.

To the Funk Music Hall i see where 54 comments have been removed. I read some thought provoking conversations. Where we can agree to disagree. A healthy discourse to a painful situation. Your organization knew that people would have strong opinions As you said SOMEBODY'S KNOWS. So hopefully we can get the solution which is the truth and from there many people can start to heal. Im not naive to think the Funk music did not expect a fiery discourse. Thanks Free, this is a window into the mystery of Mark's passing and an intro to your book "Legendary Bass Funkateer". Your book is a testament to your love and deep caring relationship that you both shared. I am sure it will inspire an exciting movie. But, it is disgusting and ridiculous that some people take a negative attitude and response at the loss of Mark Adams and attack you or accuse you of his death. You are no more responsible for his confrontations or episodes of interactions with others, or his death, than they are. Everyone who knows Free is aware that she is not capable of harming or killing anyone. People who say otherwise are insensitive, despiteful, hateful, jealous, or unaware of the facts and details. Anyone who would accuse Free of Mark's death is very short sighted, closed minded, and has a lot of work to do on themselves. They do not know better. When they know better they will do better. Let us focus on the good and positive to make things better not worse. Free is the sweetest, kindest, loving person that Mark could have known in his lifetime. There is no way she would harm or hurt anyone, let alone kill them. She loved Mark more than he loved himself and did more than enough for him to keep him together and alive. It is really sorry and sad that what happened to him occurred at a time when he was in a relationship with someone who cared tremendously for him Your book is evidence and proof of your solid compassion and unmistaken concern, care, and love for Mark, and everyone who reads it will know and experience the deep connection and unrelenting, unconditional love that you have for Mark. This is absolutely the worst interview I have ever seen.
I'm still trying to figure out the purpose! She's married to another man but STILL trying to be relevant in Mark's life! Truth be told you were his 'come up' at a time whn he was vulnerable..just like the man a month after we buried Mark.. He needed a 'come up' too.. And now it's your hubby.. Wow..
