Cutting off the supply of lithography machines to China, their response is very different?

  • The most important news in the industry recently should be the agreement between the United States, Japan and the Netherlands. On January 28, the United States stated to the outside world that the United States, Japan and the Netherlands reached an agreement to restrict the export of lithography machines and related technologies to China.
Regarding its harm to China's semiconductor industry, we have discussed it in previous videos. Today, I would like to discuss the far-reaching impact of this agreement from another angle. For example, are Japan and the Netherlands really willing to give up the huge market of China? In my opinion, for this agreement, the United States is laughing, Japan is hesitant, and the Netherlands is crying. Why is that? Hi! Welcome to Tech Teller, and let's move on to today’s topic.

in 2011 china was banned from ever visiting International Space Station so by 2020 they started to build TianGong for their own research...guess who is spearheading its way to 6G network which primarily focus on industries. All the talk about 3nm is for very specialized gadgets and most industrial chips use the 28 nm which is easily procurred...on top of that photonic and graphene are about ready for commercialization by 2023-2024...yes the short term immediate impact slowed growth but with replacements already lined up -the biggest losers will discover they lost their major market and will never be able to recover.

Do remember that South Korea, Japan and EU states are all vassal states of the US and they have to follow what the US ask them to do.

Of course the USA would be very happy as Japan and the Netherlands both agreed to cut-off their best customer (China) so that the USA would in the future be able to sell US semi-conductor chips to China at exorbitant prices. The repercussion for Japan and Netherlands is losing the China market as an unreliable suppliers in the long run.

No US won't be able to supply them as US does not have the expertise to make those high end chips .
US only holds some patents just lije Huawei holds lots of patents and cut cut US ever to have 5g
Only Samsung and TSMC have those expertise

@@hkfoo3333 You forgot that TSMC and Samsung were forced, Chips and Science Act, to built semi-conductor chip factories of the 3nm / 5nm / 7nm in mainland USA. By 2025 all these chip factories are expected to be operational.

US will not supply China chips period. They're trying to shoot Taiwan and they're selling weapons to Putin. China will have to make their own chips for that. I mean, NASA went to the moon with a 4bit chip if I remember correctly. You don't need that much computing if you could think for yourself.

    • @hkfoo3333
      @hkfoo3333 Рік тому

@@danhtran6401 China can make its own chips even though not the most advanced ones but these advanced ones using silicons will be replaced with new tech using graphene and photonic chips.
Then China can make the most advanced chips.
China can design the best chips and once able to make the chips it will be a game changer.
By the way US does not make the most advanced chips just like China . It only get others not to supply but these are not following fully.
Once China succeeds it is game over for US
So you believe US use 4bit tech to reach the moon ? Pity you .

The next technical revolution will be in the healthcare system. This will happen within the next few years, changing people's lives for the better, and increasing their life span. Cooperation with China will fast-track this

The saga is overall Dutch lost. Short term wise, they dont make money from selling equipment which China need. Long term wise, China will develop their own equipment and no longer need Dutch equipment. If Dutch has been reliable supplier, the Chinese doesnt have incentive to develop their own machine or will not develop at fast.

3 and 5nm chips account for just a few % of the total chip market. China is producing in the 14+ nm market which is what count. China is reducing orders across the board producing 14nm+ itself. Its total chip market share now exceeds Japan or EU. This really hurt Korea the big US producers. A chip war is real and certainly being fought and China is gaining ground in R&D while the West is losing market share.
