She did a damn good job too! My hair is super thick, and I have range of motion issues with my shoulders, so I could never have kept mine that well detangled without help. Although it never said, she did not go to a stylist for four years, it simply said no combs or brushes. Some natural hair stylists use that as a method for length retention. Nevertheless her hair was very well taken care of during those four years.

@@rjrenee4783 I agree. Is there some sacred rule that a comb and brush are prohibited or something? With all the intricate braiding and decoration dating back to Kemet, I'd say some grooming tool/aid was acceptable.

It's so annoying when people don't read titles! The woman detangles her hair with her fingers, instead of using a comb or brush! Some of these comments accusing the woman of not washing her hair for 4 years is ridiculous!

Chelsey Humphries yes she could have. For tightly coiled hair it’s best and more beneficial to detangle with your fingers because it prevents breakage. It isn’t unhygienic or anything like that.

I also don't comb my natural hair, I finger detangle only. I also have thick, long, healthy, and moisturized hair. Combs aren't always necessary and not using combs doesn't equate to inadequate haircare.

My hair is fine so it breaks easy that’s why I finger detangle. I also make my own hair products that’s how I was able to grow my hair to this length. I’m the woman in the video. No heat, loc method, finger detangle, good homemade products. I’m on IG/FB- EarphGrown

@@amie6587, NAYA CLIP is right. Years ago (2003') I had a relaxer in my hair. I also became really ill that year and I needed to take medication. My hair started shedding by the hand fulls and my "ends" became a mess!! I have always had long thick hair, so to see "major hair loss" was upsetting. My hair stylist (who is "great" and I have had her for years) became worried. She refused to blow dry my hair, because it was in such bad shape. So, I told my stylist to "chop" it off. Now that was 2003' and I never had my hair relaxed again and I only use heat in my hair 3 - 5 times, every 3 months. I am all natural and my hair loves it. I have had health issues over the years, but now that I no longer have chemicals in my hair, when I take medication, I do not suffer hair loss or damage. My situation was sooooo bad, girl I had to "pray" and talk to God about it. I know this may sound crazy, but I was dealing with health issues and my hair loss was so severe that I thought I had a tumor or something. Thank God it was just "severely" damaged hair. Chopping off my hair was a good move. I now have long, thick "soft" hair. Before the chop, my hair felt like dead straw. I understand how you must feel and I truly wish you the best. :)

I remember when, if this head of hair showed up in a salon, stylists would refuse to do it because it would “take too much time.” Thank you for taking the time.
Also, I used to do rollersets on my natural hair instead of blowdrying. Smaller sections and large rollers do wonders for smoothing out Afro hair. I would skip the flat iron though; always preferred big hair. 😊

When I tell you I hadn't been to a salon in years because I wasn't getting good results! Smh I went to a salon just so I could get a professional trim & regretted that decision. I told the stylist I hadn't had a comb, brush, or heat in the last 6m-1yr you would've thought we had bad blood between us! First 🚩was she didn't really touch my hair before washing it (even tho I washed, lightly detangled & put it in twists that morning, prior to coming, just to make her job easier). She took my twists down, took a picture & started scrunch washing my hair (🚩). My hair is fine & easily knotted & I knew I needed a trim (told her this). There was no finger detangling (🚩) when straight to raking thru my hair (🚩). Look FF ⏩, by the time it was time to trim I was in need of a full cut! Cut off 4 to 6in (& that was not all that needed to be cut, called herself leaving some length so I wouldn't be sad)! I was shocked & with her being a *professional* I went with her judgment over my OWN! Never again! And, the finished result left my hair soft & silky but the thinnest my hair has ever felt in my life! This was March 1, 2019. I just showed my mother the pictures 3 days ago! She was speechless/shocked/mad/sad/etc.! 9mths later, hair haven't quite recovered but it's better than it was. I may have some heat damage but Idk. Haven't put any heat outside of deep conditioning & I want to get my ends cut but I'm so scared! Smh My 6th yr just passed & I did nothing but pull it down in twists to see the length. It's so many different lengths now. I'm sad just thinking about. But, it is getting better. I said all this just to *praise* stylists like Eden! 🙌🏾 She is a gift to the natural community & 1 day she will bless this head (God willing 🙏🏾) & I have not a doubt in my mind that if she felt the need to cut me bald, I know she'd be doing the best for my hair (I wholeheartedly believe that)❣s/n: I still tipped the stylist & she charged me for added cut! 😂 Smh Thank you Eden for caring for our hair❣

Black women have such a hard way to go with their hair. If a Black woman wears her hair natural then it’s all good in tha hood and she looks cute; but if a Black woman straightens her hair then she’s trying to show the world that she has “good hair” that’s more relatable to a white woman and she doesn’t really want to own her blackness. Black women can’t win when it comes to hair, but I happen to believe that all Black women are beautiful and have beautiful hair. 🙏🏾❤️
