- It's been a long time since i straightened my hair! I have made up my mind that i wont do it again for about 5 more months. I got a cut about 3 weeks ago and she did a great job but it was a lil much for me lol totally my fault cuz shes my cousin and I told her to cut all left over color off! which is a good thing lol i just miss the extra length.

When you wrap I normally see them go under a blow dryer. And it’s wrapped in plastic and when it come out the plastic it’s like silk.

With washing, blow drying & doing my really thick 4c hair I literally have moments where I stop & damn near cry cuz its so hard to do. 💀
And then my friends with looser hair wonder why I am protecting my hair all the time..a week makes me want to chop it all off :/

T G I had one when I was small not by choice but all it does is weaken my hair and thin it out. I love my hair so I’m just going to have to learn how to do it better😂😩
Don't cry, be thankful for the type of hair you have. I have alopecia & am prayimg for my hair to grow bra strap length. It's doing well cause I believe in & trust God. Be patient & take time doing your hair. Pray & ask God to give you patience when doing your hair. I tell my daughter the same thing, She has extremely thick hair as well. Good luck to you.

My hair is the same way 4c everywhere but the back of my head so weird!
I remember being in 4th grade and going to a salon to get a blowout. At that time, my hair was heat damaged, no protein or moisture, matted, and my ends were so split. I had gotten a protein treatment and this same hairstyle. I was younger, so I was kind of upset that my hair wasn't like my both of my sisters, who were both past shoulder length and mine was chin length. I continued going to that same salon for all of the 4th-grade year (except once when I had gotten braids) and most of the 5th and 6th grade. Already by the end of 4th grade, my hair had flourished. It was no longer thin and brittle to the touch. My hair was thicker and grew a lot in the past few months. I never thought that if I cared for my hair, it would grow so much in such little time. During my 5th grade year, my hair in the back did grow faster than the front, so I got the tail cut off. I was back to neck length, but it was so much are full then it was last time I was neck length, so I paid it no attention. My hair continued to grow. I am now about to start 8th grade and my hair past the sleeves on a short sleeve shirt. This might sound like a little, but after all of this my hair has gone through for the last 3-4 years, this is honestly a milestone. Heat can damage some girls' hair, but heat worked wonders for mine. I hope anyone with damaged hair can find help the way I did.

I would have literally scabs on my scalp from it burning and staying on too long. My hair would just plateau all the time at a certain length at my shoulders.

Thank you for this video. My hair is at about armpit length when stretched, also 4c, but I’ve been going through severe depression and neglecting it so much that there’s so many single stranded knots and it’s so damaged and dry and matted that I think my only option is to chop most of it off and start with maybe 3 inches or so...hoping it’ll be at least 6 healthy inches by the end of the year...been really afraid to go through with it though so videos like yours have been helpful in showing me that very short hair can still be beautiful and feminine and versatile.
Our shrinking is real. People try to say I'm 4 A/B but I really feel I'm a mix of
4 b/c....my hair sits a lil past shoulder length when wet but when flat ironed, to the middle of my back. You went from shrinking to banging& it looks so silky and soft❤💯
I’m excited to try this method of silk press today! Everytime I’ve straightened my natural hair it always ends up a mess. But combing through it and using that brush may be my savior. I love how calm and fun your voice is and the rest of your videos are great too

I’m so happy I found someone with similar hair as me. My hair is indeed 4C but also with looser hair texture at the back, sides of my head and the front 🤧.
I thought I was the only one with multi textured hair 😭😂 so glad there’s more of us we have the exact same thing I have looser curls in the back and the rest is much tighter but I can never straighten my hair on my own it never works out

What temp do you guys set your straightener to? I know she said 410. My hair gets frizzy the next day when I straighten it at 400. I tried 450 (the max setting) recently and it finally came out like a silk press and stayed that way for a week (could have stayed longer but I have to wash weekly for scalp reasons). Just wondering if that’s crazy high. I’m going to try to remember to go down to 425 whenever I end up straightening my hair again to see if I can get away with a lower temp
You know setting and pin curling also helps in maintaining the look as well if you’re talking about keeping it and extending the style so that you don’t always have to run an iron through it all the time. Also covering it with bonnets when you shower or bathe also helps too.

Also, you can buy stockings and cut a part of the leg off and use that for wrapping. In South Africa it’s called a swirl kous, which is basically wrapping your hair to maintain the straightness and style.
