      @@magnus5882 Wow a namesake! Magnus is brilliant at all parts of the game. Openings, middle game and endgames. Based on my little understanding of the game, his understanding of the game is so good that the middlegame is where he has the biggest advantage. In endgames he can play the longest and keep intense pressure. Some people fold under that pressure. His 2nd world championship challenger Caruana drew all the classical games and lost to him in rapids. That is one more thing about him. He can play all time formats equally well. I think he is the only person who has held all 3 time format titles at the same time - Classical World Champion, Rapid World Champion and Blitz World Champion.
      In summary he is a genius with incredible tenacity and dedication. These 3 qualities make him a force to be reckoned with

    The hate Ian got for losing to Magnus last year was so bizarre to me. The amount of disrespect he got strictly for the optics of his play. He just played how he always does and he earned his contendership. How he handled all that publicly made me a fan. Can't imagine having international media turn on you, even your peers and colleagues in a niche as small as Super GM level chess. He must've found fewer friends than expected and I admire how he's shown up in 2022. What a resilient player.

    • @user-gx8dl1dt2y
      @user-gx8dl1dt2y 2 роки тому +1

      He didn't play how he always does. He typically plays pretty fast by classical standards to put the pressure and time on his opponent, like in this game against Firouzja. In the WCC though, he played uncharacteristically slow. He would take long thinks on moves he usually wouldn't, or he would seemingly be paralyzed by indecision on the more pivotal moves.
      That's where the criticism (at least what I've seen) stems from. It wasn't about him simply losing to Magnus, it was about him playing differently from his usual style.

    Candidates is brutal tournament. Double round robin classical between 8 players. But it used to be even more exchausting
    In Yugoslavia 1959 and in Curacao 1962 there were 8 players and it was quadruple round robin. Imagine young Bobby Fischer`s feelings to play against Tal 4 times and to lose all 4 games in 1959. And then there were others : Petrosjan, Keres, Smyslov ... 28 games from each player.

But i like how you think this is "hidden," as if an observation as basic as the one i just laid out took any sort of special extrapolation of psychology. Its completely obvious, but maybe not to someone as shallow as you.

    That's what I was talking.My player is back to claim what belongs to him in this fide I noticed and watched the original matches of Ian whether it's ding or alireza his body language was giving a clear instinct that he is in Thanos mode he on first match any one who play ding will play more solidly I noticed his each movement gesture and what it tells is that he is not here to wait he want blood shed on board .with each move he made his clear intent that he is all in candidates whether he would win it or lose it but not going to play a passive game

    I've gotten behind on looking at these games. But Nepomniachtchi's positions have been looking loaded with attacking possibilities. I think Firouzja might be hanging in there too tough. Showing too much heart or grit. There are some great games this tournament, though. I want to study all of them. 😏

    • @miroslavjanecek9993

      In every classical game on every level you write down moves. That's in case there is some controversy or debate, the arbiter can check the scorsheets. Also it is for players to have the possibility to analyse it later. And also, at the end of the game, both players have to sign the scorsheets to confirm that there is the right result.
      You could argue, that on this level, the games are broadcasted online so there is no need to write down moves. But there are two reasons in favor of writing down:
      1) Online broadcast can fail, some technical problem,
      2) it is a cool thing

    • @miroslavjanecek9993

    • @azir2946
      @azir2946 2 роки тому

      An other reason is that in order to claim a draw by threefold repetition you have to call the arbiter and show him the past moves

    Nepo wins. Magnus vs Nepo II. And Magnus might even lose a match, giving Magnus what he really wants (a fight). Not because Nepo is as strong as Magnus, but Magnus might take him lightly because of the previous experiences.
    These days, all sports or games are about nerves. Other things, not so much.
